Morocco 2016

It's been one of those day's and nights ! Last night we hand wind with a vengeance all night long the van was rolling like a good un. When I looked outside the window I could see only a couple of hundred meters, sand everywhere and it was still blowing hard. We made a run for it headed North and are now at Boujdour, holed up for the night and what a journey getting here. A full tank of fuel averaging 16 mph due to the high winds and sandstorm all day long. Now my fridge is playing up and not surprised with the amount of dust/sand we have had to deal with. Hope the weather is better tomorrow.

Hi matey, it's been pretty bad weatherwise here in Portugal, Rain, wind and floods.
If you are thinking of heading this way when you get back across the water then it might be an idea to book a couple of places first. Armaceao had getting on for 100 vans on there the other night, Falesia were turning vans away an Pedro has been renting space in his neighbours gardens.

No, far to early for us to be thinking about leaving Moroc. We are now snaking our way up the N1 and hope to arrive in Tafroute safe and well within the next week. Were still getting hot weather, just a load of crap coming down from the Noreth East and it's playing havoc with the sand down here.

We have had to batten down the hatches here at Tafarout too. It is gusting more than a full on storm but cold with it. Hoping for a better day tomorrow.

Same here in Zagora. Still very windy but the site where we are (Camping Prends ton Temps) is fairly sheltered so not getting the dust storms. Hopefully better tomorrow but is getting cooler:(

Good weather tomorrow here in Tafraoute. Full sun and wind dropping - had a word with Lynne and told her to be more ladylike!

Slight moisture (some call it rain) forecast for thurs/fri but I blame those on the way!

Can't complain but if it involves the weather I am sure you all will. Just remember here at Taf we are only about 100m below the peak of Ben Nevis and wandering round in shorts, in feb. I feel like a postman.

And the sun is still doing its stuff with the solar panels, giving us more than we can use!!!

Only posted twice!
Thought it would be more than that.

Internet here leaves a lot more to be desired than the weather

Had our bottle of Cremant this morning. The pop of the cork turned a few heads at 10.30!
Then strutted (staggered) to town where I treated the bird to a platter of chicken & chips at the Hotel, not the chicken shack before you shout cheapskate!

After topping up the veg supply and stopping for a coffee we picked up a donut 'tween us for the walk back.

Not one to skimp, I then spoiled the lass with a bowl of slop from the mobile soup kitchen for supper.

Beat that.
And to think I was going to steal her of you
But not now you have ruined her
By the way has lyn read the "bird " bit yet

PS just got all clear from hospital so we will be down into southern Spain after Easter and may be across into morocco

Lynne does not read or post here, only gets to hear the bits I read out to her!

Good news re hospital, we are in maroc 'til mid april then up via Portugal. Hope to see you both on the road. Bonne route

It's been parky and windy here at Tafroute the last two evenings, but it doesn't stop the team from enjoying beer o'clock.

Update on the gas ( we re now in tafroute see above - so glad its working.)

Yes they filled our french bottle with proper propane at camping Bakanou Tifnit 18Dh/KG.

And everything is working properly again. My conclusion is that the Truma secumotion regulator does not cope well with the Moroccan butane.

That's a good job because I think you are going to need it, 9c outside already.
P.S nice to see you both again!

But still no camels for our grand daughter, who at 5, is loving it .

My first serious recollection of Morocco was small children, immaculately dressed, walking hand in hand on a main road, alone, miles from anywhere. I thought that any country where kids can walk like that has to be a good country. I think I was right.

We are at Zagora and will be heading towards Merzouga on Thursday. Tom-Tom has given us the route from Zagora to Tazzarine via the N12. Anyone know what sort of state that section of the N12 is like?

The N12 from Zagora to Tazzarine is/was Piste road for some considerable distance. Ask Makems (Mike), I recall him saying that even his fillings were shaken loose.
.
The best route IMO, is the N9 to Tansikhte, then turn right on the R108 via Nkob.

As Ken says, one to avoid until someone else reports otherwise.
2 years ago it was 40km of very rough piste before you got onto Tarmac. From there on it was a beautiful road!
Phil drove it last year against my recommendation and lived (minus fillings) to regret it.

Sorry the weather is a bit inclement up there in Taf. We're parked up at Essaouria where it's been warm and sunny with just a fresh breeze keeping the kite surfers happy. Very strong yesterday though with a bit of rain at Insouane.

Lyn,run,morning,
Not 3 words I ever thought I would see in the same sentence.

As me owd mother used to say, 'Cast not a clout till February's out in Tafraoute'

Your right again me ol cocker, was wondering why so chilly here and wasn't so last year, we wernt here till March 2015;)
I may be wrong but i thought I'd read that the last section of piste on the N12 was complete now? Without going back thru the posts
