Morocco 2016

Arr,I remember it well. Colin and I joined the surfer dudes on that beach with our body boards last year. Think the locals thought I was a whale constantly beaching itself!!

Now at Tifnit and have the deck chairs out on top car park. We will be here for the rest of the day then back to the campsite before moving on tomorrow. What a stunning little place, great to walk through village and chat with locals. Fish restaurants here too. A Few pictures.

Or is that the plan?:moon2:

I remember you posting pics of you body boarding down a sand dune, or was that the year before. We will give that activity a try too this year!

Us and Portland are now at Tiznit, Camping Tazzazate (4 1/2km south of Tiznit on N1) - we've passed you Phil!

Modern site with all facilities, hot showers MAD80 inc. hookup (which is currently a bit iffy, fridge keeps cutting out). Spacious individual pitches and less than half full. Guy remembered us from last year. Noticed that a nearby van has had dinner delivered, they offered that last year too. There is a cafe/restaurant but haven't investigated that yet.
Planning to stay here couple of days to let rest catch up and do some domestics.

Was nice to meet up with TerryL today at Marjane Agadir, have a safe trip and a big thanks for sorting the funsters deal out again this year Terry
We are in Sidi Wassi at the mo will prob stay here for a few days at least, anyone thinking of visiting be aware the road is being resurfaced so you have to drive through the heart of the town now can be a bit tight for big rigs,

If you keep moving on Phil we will never catch up with you!
Or is that the plan?:moon2:

Mike Gwen keep truckin' and the news coming, makes life much more bearable lying in my hospital bed contemplating my navel. (replacement knee operation).

So many fantastic Moroccan memories of good times with likeminded chums.

Hope to be on the road heading South - Spain, Portugal, France mid March onwards and look forward to the possibility of renewing old friendships on the road.

Have a good trip all.

LOL Will be moving a little further south in an hour os so, to Aglou, on the coast (about an hours drive from here) , the camp site is just south of the village (two, one North, both in campercontact) and indicated at 30 Dh a night. We will stay here for one night if ok and then onto Mirleft down the coast road, then sidi Ifni. We will keep you posted. I plan to stop for at least two days at Sidi Ifni and it may be a point that we could meet up without either of us having to adjust our dawdle before hand. If that makes sense. I will keep you posted.

If you're passing Mirleft there is a cracking campsite just on the Sidi Ifni road out - Camping Erkounte - with access to a remote beach. Had we have gone to Maroc this year, we may have gone earlier and spent Christmas at Erkounte. The owner, Abdel is Moroccan and lived in Denmark for 25 years, so he is very aware of European standards in terms of cleanliness and hygiene. He rustles up some tasty meals as well which can be eaten on the roof terrace or in the restaurant.

Simon, Suggy and some French accordion players kept us all entertained over a few nights when we last stayed here last time.

Thanks Ken, now sitting in a Mirleft restaurant enjoying lunch. Our plans have changed, when we got to Aglou we found the resort was more of a holiday resort than anything else, the campsite at the entrance to the town had big water slides sticking out of it and so we pushed on to the second campsite further south and immediately rejected it. A small walled area in the middle of nowhere. So we pushed on to Mirleft along the coast road which was a very good metal road. About 6 miles North of Mirleft we spotted several motorhomes parked down near a official looking terreocotta building and we went and had a nosy. It turned out to be a tiny fishing village with a lot of empty buildings. At the tiny port fish was for sale and a couple of tiny shops with no lecce in the town. The group of motorhomes were camping there and invited us to stay overnight and it looked an ok place but we decided to push on.

Incidently, lot of new resort villages being built along this coast road. It's all changing so enjoy it while you can. Also, as an aside a resident told me the chap who owns Atlantic Park, just north of Banna Village is converting the campsite into a retirement complex which would explain the increase in static homes and eventual elimination of motorhome pirches.

the holiday villages along the coast have been going on for the last twenty years . some never seem to get bigger. morocco is becoming the spain of the 70,s and 80,s .
shame . but as said go and see it while you can.
even the people are changing .
we used to stop outside the military office in mirlift . or down by red restaurant on the beach just south of there. but then the police started kicking campers off.
it all changes .

We are following Ken's recommendation and bailing into kensville for one night. It better be good cause he sold me a gas cover for twice it's real value.

Now in Camping Erkounte and bugger me Abdul bent my ear about the 4 Funsters who stayed last year and told it like it happened yesterday. I took the smile of his face when I said Ken said I would get my first night free if I showed him my Funsters badge but I cold not keep a straight face and we booth had a giggle. It's a big place, looks like new and there a few good recommendations in Campercontact about the place. Two british couples who stayed there last year rate it highly, so that will do for us. Might explore the beach soon but a few cans fell out the fridge when I opened the door and look like they could go off quickly if not consummed.
Abdul (site owner) said roads are good all the way Down to Tan Tan but very bad at Dakla, so will get more info at Tan Tan if moving further south. Hot today.

As we are stuck in UK for 6 months due to a "brain Fart", I have been reading this thread and thought christ, £25 a night for a campsite is dear for Morocco !!!
THEN I went back to the exchange rate site I had visited and saw the decimal point was an extra place to the left !!!!!
Doh !!
Have a ball you lucky buggers..
Mitch and Jenny..

Theres some cheeky buggers about.

Tell Abdel we will see him next year and that probably applies to Suggy & Simon. When you set off to Sidi Ifni be sure to turn right after about four miles to Legzira. There is some stunning scenery down on the beach.

Hi all you funsters in Morocco. We will be crossing over to Morocco a week on Saturday (30st Jan) all being well, for our third trip to Morocco.
First stop Asillah for our internet. Can anyone tell me how long a Marroc telecom sim card lasts? we had one last year, but it was just for30 days, but we could not tell if we used it almost up to the last bit or if it would have done a lot more internet for our money. we are not really internet savvy, so could do with some advice.

Once that knees replaced Arnie you won't know yourself. You'll be running around like a spring lamb.
Gwen (who has had the experience on both knees) says make sure you insist on proper pain control. There is no need in this day and age with the drugs that are available to be suffering severe pain after an operation.
Get well soon and give our love to Carole

Hi WA. Your SIM card should still be good to recharge with credit. It is just he credit that runs out in 30 days but your just load some more credit on it. We just did this on the sim that we bought last year. Colin was all of 10 minutes in the Asilah MT shop a couple of days ago, a bit different to last year when we bought the sim.

Look forward to seeing you again somewhere in Maroc.

We left Essouaria today and 'quell domage' the Carrefour booze shop is closed in Friday's :Eeek:

We are now on the campsite in Imsouane. Tricky road in with single track and road works! Remembered Phil's @PhilandMena post when it was too late!! Rough track into the site. Anyway we made it and it is idyllic. Very quiet, overlooking the beach and village. AND it has a washing machine! Yay!
We will stay a day or two and catch up with you all at Tafroute

Had a bit of a Funster dinner last night. Ten of us Wee staying at the guardian car park near Mustafa's workshop so we went to a little restaurant we found a couple of years ago with @kiwicoss.
We took our own beer and wine and had the small restaurant to ourselves. They serve the most delicious roast quarter chicken with chips, with a very good Moroccan salad starter and loads of the most delicious bread.
Total bill for ten people including all food, a few soft drinks and a tip came to 300 Dh. About £21!
Can't get a coffee in the UK for that!

@PhilandMena have you got the coordinates for Erkounte please? We might head straight there from Agadir.

Tucked in at Camping Le Realais Marrakech for a couple of nights, a ton of laundry washed and Colin has replaced our busted kitchen tap, thank goodness. Will move on to the gardian parking in the centre on Sunday so we can visit his mum and take her out to dinner on the square, she is looking forward to her street food experience!!

Id stop where you are Sandra. Have a word with Le Relais and they will sort a taxi out for you, who will drop you off and pick you up at your pre arranged time, at a very reasonable price. So tranquil at Le Relais compared with the hullabaloo of El Katoubia square/mosque.
