Morocco 2016

Hello @TerryL et al.

Headed for Dar Bouazza from Moulay Bousselham on Saturday. Not having Sat Nag is a real pain especially as the road signs are sadly lacking!! So we did go down interesting roads when we tried to get off the motorway:Eeek:

Managed to find the campsite at Dar Bouazza last night ok with a little help from the local Shell garage! No washing machine but the guy offered us laundry service! He remembered you lot there the previous night:wink:

We are now at the campsite at Safi for 2 nights with the intention of getting some washing done. The Camping Morocco book has the washing machine logo but when I asked in my best French:france:the site owner/manager waved his hands vaguely in the direction of the toilet block. On investigation the 'lavage' was cold water sinks:Eeek:So we will have a look round Safi tomorrow and head for Essaouira on Tuesday( and hopefully get the washing sorted!!)

Definitely getting warmer though:clap2:Snowing back home in Kent!!

Did you stay in Oualidia for the car event?

xxxx

Hi Ali. As you our walking around, look our for a sign over a door saying Presse or Pressings, this will mean they take in laundry, usually takes 24 hours before you can collect it back.

Another thing that might help is to download the MapsMe app, if you haven't already. We managed just fine with this as our main mapping guidance around Maroc, will also be using it this time too.

Thanks for that but we are not desperate yet!! Hopefully will find a site with a machine soon(y)

I actually discovered earlier that I had already downloaded MapsMe:doh: So will have a proper look! We're managing ok but it's soo much easier with SN!!

Hope to see you en route sometime:RollEyes:

You can but a plastic single tub mains washer fro about £45 in Maroc which is more than adequate.

The car event was here today.... now all cleared up and gone. Quite interesting as it was a street circuit race which uses the access road as the pits and the access road to one half of the Guardian parking as the start / finish line. Great weather here and on to Essaouira tomorrow taking in a Marjane on route.

Had a chat with a Welsh chap parked up on the coast road overlooking the beach here at Imsouane and he said the second road in is much easier than the one I took, so if your planning on visiting here ignore the first (Most Northern) road and take the second shorter P1000.

The French guy has gone and we now have an Australian couple and an English speaking Italian in our mini parking lot with more motorhomes and campers parked up at various spots.

Spent a very interesting afternoon yesterday looking at the mosaics at The Roman City of Volubilis ( just north of Meknes)

And I realised that these mosaics were laid 2000 years ago, since when the building eventually collapsed on top of them untill they were dug back out about 100 years ago and have since been exposed to the elements and tourists and they were still in a better state than the tiles in an average Morrocan campsite shower room.

Thought for the day?

Thought it was incredible when we visited in 2014.
The peservation, the quantity as well as the quality of ruins/mosaics.
It is a must when in maroc for me.

And all for £1.40 entrance fee. All National trust sites would be heaving if they charged this.

Colin/Sandra, if you have any space and have yet to cross, can you pick me up 48 cans of lager please. Mena has drunk most of mine, (savage). I'll collect them from you in Tafroute if that's OK with you two. Obviously, there will be a lot of dog walking undertaken after full payment as a gesture of my grattitude. Anyway, it's not as if this a regular ocurance with Funsters...?..?is it !

Ken told you to go in Essouira, there's a humongous offy in the shop, mind you can't see 48 cans lasting Phil!

What price are folks paying for diesel in Maroc?

It's only 90c per litre at Carrefour!

That relates to about 67 pence in Spain. I thought we were paying that in maroc last year

It's about 7.30 MAD which equates to around 57p depending on the exchange rate you vote for your Eoros and MAD

I was alright at Essuoira then done the maths when we arrived here and realized I was going to run out before end of Feb. Typical me, nice but dim!

Watched a local woman pay a camel owner to collect camel piss (yes, piss!) In a plastic drinking bottle and she was into her second bottle when I left. Now what on earth is that all about!
Quite a lot have left this morning but still around D 30 odd vans parked here.

Finally got it sorted, took a little research but got there in the end.

Shaving a chat with a Canadian guy today and he tells me there is free camping on open ground by Banna villiage. We are planning to leav here tomorrow and will check it out on way down, we still have some way to go but are enjoying this place very much. There is a fair bit of road billing work going on but this has no impact on the beaches or the village itself and seems to be very popular with a lot of young surfers

Hi Phil. Looks like Imsouane might be our next stop - we're at Essaoura for 2 nights still with most of the group (can't take a hint ). Do you think there would be room for 6/7 vans?

And we'll certainly be interested in Banana Village.

Phil, have you Sussed out that other road to Imsouane that you were told is shorter but unsuitable for larger vans? I don't want to go that way and get stuck!
