Morocco 2016

hello people,,can you tell me if you can get a ferry to teneriffe from maroco?

Hi Ianthebuilder, I don't think there are any ferries to Tenerife from or too Morocco. However, there are two destinations you can use from Spain. The last time I looked the cheapest was from Huelva at about 500 hundred euros one way for a 6.6 mtr. The other is from Cadiz and they both run a service once a week.

We looked at it because there is a motorhome site in Cost Adeje at 3 Euros a night with great sea views near La Caleta. The gray water goes to the Palm trees while the black goes down the drain on site. A water wagen arrives twice a week from the council for fresh water. We are flying to Tenerife next week for a fortnight and will give an update for information for anyone who may be interested.

When are people setting of we are leaving home teatime ish on 27 December and crossing dover Calais early hours of 28th down to Calpi for New Year's Eve
Then on to Benidorm for 3 kings on 5 January after that God knows
We are crossing late on the 28th and then down to the Benidorm area too. (Great minds think alike!).

Well as forecast, the doom-mongers are back - but they're trying it on a different thread about Tourists attacked in Morocco. No further comment from me.

I wouldn't be worried by a single incident either. Just keep your options open as they say and change plans if necessary.

I guess you are directing this comment at me.. ?

I posted a news item about Morocco.. in the Morocco forum.. never made any reference to this thread..

besides.. name calling isn't Fun.. it's also against the rules...

Sorry Jim but I did not direct the comment at anyone and there is NO WAY I would resort to name-calling; it's something I abhor on here. If I've offended you have my deepest apologies.

I was simply attempting a light-hearted follow up to my earlier post.

An update for those who would like to cross together to Morocco in January.

First off a reminder about the dates:
Monday 11 January - for those who wish, meet at booked campsite in Estepona. Details below
Wednesday 13 January - transfer to Algeciras, meet up and group purchase ferry tickets
Thursday 14 January - group crosses to Tanger-Med on 11.00(ish) ferry. Proceed to Asilah for overnight.

Campsite - I have booked 8 places at www.campingparquetropical.com/ at Estepona who have agreed an ACSI rate of €14p.n. I can book more if needed. (Not sure if they'll give same to non-ACSI, which they did last year. Something got a bit lost in translation I think!)

Tickets - I have contacted Carlos who, understandably, needs to know how many before he "gives us the best rate". In this respect I can probably include Funsters who want to go but not as part of this group - until I can get some numbers you'll have to negotiate your own.

Understandably, I would think all of us are still reviewing the security situation before making a final decision but to get a booking I'm going to need people to say yea or nay in the near future. So after chatting to a couple of others I have decided to defer "commitment" until 1 December, when I will forward numbers (there are currently 7 confirmed). PLEASE NOTE - this is not a binding agreement; minds can be changed right up until 13 January when we actually buy the tickets. I'm not asking for anything else until then.

So if you fall into the category of reasonably sure, please have a good think then let me know, either here on the forum or by "conversation", by 1 December. Those who have already said yes don't need to respond. Those travelling independently could still post their intentions; there may be others who would like to travel with you.

Hi Terry we are entering for definite on the 8th Jan, if there are others interested and want to go over on the same day we'd be more than happy to accompany them, We will be fast tracking down to Ercount Park, probably wont do as many stops as last year more of a relaxing time this year.
Plan on lazing at Tafroute for a while too;)

Hi Terry,
Thanks for this, great help as usual. Put us down as a definite unless there is a drastic change in events/circumstances. We would like to cross over a few days before you guy's but would welcome the group discount offer, if available and if not quite happy to arrange with Carlos directly. (Can you supply his details if this is our best option). (Is he open on Sundays ?)
We aim to get a morning crossing and then down to Mohammedia for our first overnight stop before Essaouira. Will hook up with you and others somewhere along the trail for sure.

Terry we are deffo going (subject to security situation at the time) but will be a few days after you, probably crossing on the 18th +/- a day or so.

I have a set of radios but not sure how to set pmr! Usually leave it on channel 1 but never hear a thing. Used it with Busman Dave on way back from Portugal and worked fine. Chatting away like two old women.

Another definite subject to bla bla bla not sure on exact date but it should be around those dates, yet again thanks for your input Terry
Dave or as known in Maroc

If the radios you have are the ones from such as Argos lidle and Maplins
Then they proberbly pmr (personal mobile radio) that work on uhf frequency 446 PMR446 split into 8 channels
So just set to channel 5 and they should work fine
If not don't go buying anymore I have a spare few knocking round so we can sort out when we meet up in January

There Motorola radios, good ones that do not need a license. When we were at Merzouga I managed to talk to Mena from the highest Sand dune which was quite a long way from the motorhome and the clarity of reception was superb. It must have been a very long distance between us as it took Busman Dave two days to reach the top of the same dune. I did try to call Benidorm when I got to Tangier Med but had no joy, disappointed or what!
