Morocco 2016

When I decant bottles in Marocco I always use a filter and it is absolutely black with oil & dirt. Advised to do so by a Maroccan gent. But at about £3 a fill worth the filter. Also have to de-coke my fridge almost every week along with other Moho's around me.

Just wondering if it is worth taking our push bikes to Morocco this winter. Can any funsters who have been there advise if it is safe to ride around on the roads and if there are any cycle rides around etc.

Regards, tgee

loads of cycling places . used to take bikes all the time . great for mixing with the locals . just watch out for the bad driving by the tourists .
in morocco you avoid them and they avoid you . it works fine . but only whilst driving /riding . the locals are great.

We took ours and will again next year. Have to admit we only used them a couple of times though, but hope to more this time.

@tgee We also took our bikes, .. but didn't use so much.. but did quite a bit of cycling in and around Essaouira.

wouldn't bother in future..

Took ours both trips but didn't use them in Morocco. Was asked couple of times if we wanted to sell them though!

Not going to bother next time.

Essential. It's as safe as you are.

What filter do you use?

Thanks for the heads up on the push bikes guys. Think will leave out this time and see how it goes for next time round.

We took our bikes the first year but haven't bothered since. It's the potholes and more importantly the numerous places where the edge of the road has subsided that made me nervous rather than the erratic driving (locals and tourists alike).
I didn't fancy being in the position of heading for a missing road edge and not being able to swerve around it when traffic was coming in both directions.
Having said that I'm thinking of taking a bike this year because the after effects of an operation earlier this year means I have a limp and can't walk as far as I used to be able to.

You'll be sorry !

Next time may be closed to non Muslims.

we took bikes first time , have not bothered since ,

if you wanted to take bikes, buy old ones to carry with you then sell them before you leave Morocco .

don,t take good ones, if you are hanging them off the back of the MH everthing will be full of sand , chains , bearing etc

Just confirms my view that the F.O. does not have a clue. Next week, some pillock in the F.O. will change the risk rating again, no doubt.
