Morocco 2015

Reminds me of sand surfing on Morton Island in Australia.
We were told one lad did 30 runs in an hour. Thought, 'no prob' then tried ascending the dune.
2 runs in an hour was impressive!

It has been wash day here at Le Relaise , Clothes, bedding , carpets and the van . Lol ,
met up with Irish Billy , with the spanish reg (we took over his position at Tif Nit ) he and Kaz are parked the other side of the brand new toilet / shower block 50m from us ,

Some French were spotted dumping their cassette behind "The Dutchman " at Tafraoute ,in the Palmerie the other week ,
some hippy germans filmed them and put it on youtube etc ,

Aprox 24 hours later Police and Army arrived at the Palmerie , looking for the French in the film .

Some pictures from my fishing trip yesterday. The point where the sea enters the Lagoon at high tide. Moulay Bousselham from the lagoon and ny Fishing guide. (A complete waste of time but nice to get out on the water). Finally, some shell fish that I bought for 6 €, wonder how much I would pay for this in the UK or even France.

Tried and failed :giggle: its a long way up isn't it, got over 3 quarters of the way up and had to stop :-(. Just couldn't make headway in the soft sand even got a little light headed so enough was enough. Glad I had a go tho with Ken Lynda and JessView attachment 56821View attachment 56822
It's definitely deceiving Dave. I was advised to wear crocks and then take them off once I hit the soft sand, which I did. Also, I approached from the right hand side as you look at the monster, the last accent is so much easier on your legs and knees. I had seen people going on a more direct route (I suspect the one you had taken) and then some where having to go on hands and knees to do the last bit. Sod that for a game of soldiers. Stunning views though and nice pictures. Can't believe Ken is using his dog as an excuse for failure. The big sissy mary. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=sissy+mary

Here is a video of our attempt up the todgra gorge. We failed at about 9Km past the touristy bit. The road is in a bit of state and we didn't want to risk it. We have spoken to some people who did push on and now have bits of their van hanging off. I am now using some new software post edit and it has improved the quality no end. And especially for Al-Di i think you are going to love this soundtrack.

The road works that stopped a lot going up Todra Gorge last year have been completed at last .

We camped overnight on the ledge on the left above the Gorge ( view Moroco 2014 posts for vids n pics ), We also hiked the Berber shepherd trails a bit from the ledge , The night sky was amazing ...

We then drove up to Imilchil trying to complete the loop but engine troubles caused us to do a multi point turn round at around 2500mt ASL ,..... but thats another story ...

The best bit , the Gorge itself is not really shown on the vid ,
( Again have a look at the 2014 posts for pics n vids )
it is spectacular and well worth seeing , and is easy to access now the road works through the town look to be completed ,
The road after the gorge looks to be in the same condition as last year , better to turn round and head for Dades Gorge and the zig zag road ... look for the Rosie's youtube vid..

Horshamjack and crew currently at Tazerine. Camping Amasttou.
Left Foum Zguid early sat nav took us on N12 by Zagora !! noticed a sign saying 49km of Piste !! Turned around and followed Dave's directions,,
Great road . Superb scenery
Merzouga tomorrow
Will catch up with the Merzouga Three for beer 0'clock

We are enjoying Meknes immensely.
Yesterday Gwen decided to do a it of jeweller bothering and we ended up in a shop run by a guy who had done a PHD at Nottingham Uni so spoke really good English.
She bought a pair of rings, one that had a solitaire Zirconium in it which she wanted replaced with a genuine diamond she had in a pendant necklace (we bought the diamond in New York years ago)
After haggling for quite a while she eventually got the rings at a price she was happy with AND got the diamond swapped for the zirconium AND got her other rings cleaned plus a couple of cups of coffee (did I say we were in there ages?).
She has a wedding ring that is white gold which needs redoing every couple of years as white gold tends to go dull. Back home it costs about £50 a time. Here in Morocco it was 100dh (about £7!).
Rip-off Britain?
Nah!

We were sat outside the van late afternoon drinking a cup of tea when a Motorhome pulled in to the guardian parking. Chap got out and started an argument with the Guardien and after a few minutes got back in his van and drove off.
Guardian came over to tell us that the gentleman refused to pay 10dh for 4 hours parking as it was "too much"
Bet you can guess the nationality of said gentleman.

Just after Tazerine there's a bridge out, you follow the diversion right, when you come to the river/water not that deep but just keep as much to the left as you can as you go thru it, not a problem :-)

You saw me then !

Decided to wash Motorhome today as a bit overcast and lucky me, after putting all the suds on and getting into a right good old lather the heavens opened up and rinsed my motorhome from top to bottom :). Still raining now but all jobs jone, Motorhome cleaned inside and out and Mena has rearranged some of our storage cupboards and were more organised than ever before. As it's the 17th the wine and Champagne (kept for a special occasion) is about to get hammered, as are we.
Happy paddy's day everybody.
Here’s to a long life and a merry one.
A quick death and an easy one
A pretty girl and an honest one
A cold beer – and another one!

Phil thats Allahs way of paying you back for calling us desert Ethiopians sissies for not getting to the top of the dune. Its absolutely red hot here at the Auberge des Roches in beautiful downtown Merzouga.

A couple of rather attractive young American girls approached us and asked if they could have a lift to Marrakech tomorrow. I remarked to Busman Dave that it may have been worth changing his route schedule.

We have been joined this aft by Mark & Sam - aka Horsham Jack and Max the pooch.
Bacardi o clock any time now.

Yes, Graham. We are ready to leave now and think we will go in the next 2 days or so and have decided to visit the Algarve before heading home.

Ken, get off the Bacardi! I only called you a sissy mary! (Not sure if Ethiopia has sissy mary's as they are born and bred up north, Edlington way, I hear!)
Enjoy the weather, it's pissing down here but we don't care, we are on the shampoo now!
