Leaving Meknes this morning! A great place to visit and no doubt we will be back. One picture of a Stork, resident in Meknes and two pictures of a dying trade, handed down from father to son. This man told me he was one of the last families left in Meknes that produced this type of work, all by hand. He said he would pass on his skill to his son. His products are shipped all over the world but he can only work for two hours a day because the detail of his work puts a strain on his eyesight.

Our last full day in Morocco has dawned cool and very damp at Mouley Bossalham. A heavy sea mist is hanging around, spoiling the view and making everything wet. Come on Sun do your stuff.

Off to lunch later with Martin and Sue (Mr Ed) and then it's pack up the van time ready for an early start to the port tomorrow :crying:

We will spend the day in the Algeciras re- stocking and then hot footing it too Granada for a few days skiing. It's going to be a body shock that's for sure!

A huge thank you to all who helped make this trip such a blast. It's had it's ups and downs but definitely more ups thanks to the Maroc Funsters, including the ones who didn't make the trip this year but were always there with help and guidance. Believe me it was surely needed for these two unprepared travellers ( wing it merchants)! :thanks3:

We had mixed fish at one of the restaurants on the front, a skinny guy with glasses will assail you very nicely and say "free wine" well that's what we thought he said, now don't get me wrong , the mixed fish was amazing, a huge plate of fish, nicely cooked and presented and the wine glass kept getting topped up, when the bill came the wine was more that the food, "you said the wine was free" says I, "what is this free" he says, his English suddenly not as good as it was before, "fresh" he says, anyway, I enjoyed my fresh wine and would eat there again just make sure you know how much the wine is if you have it! Enjoy the rest of your hop. Frosty in uk today and several ferry crossings have been cancelled, hey ho, waiting for a plumber, ran out of oil and can't get it going, good job for space heaters!

Ourselves and Busman Dave are now at Tata, after a stunning drive over the tops and down a broad river vally. Drove into the Swimming Pool car park and not a camper to be seen. The chap at the pool directed us next door to Camping Municipal as the pool is just the overflow apparently (no pun intended). We are the only English in the village, or for that matter any other nationality, the other 15 or so vans all bearing French plates.
Its a lot hotter than when we left Tafraoute - C'est la Vie mes amis.

Anyone Who is going to be getting the Chunnel home, and has not prebooked the return, just been told by a motorhomer in Cité Europe that if you get a day return its £50 instead of £100 and if you have a dog say your leaving it in England and that's half price (£8) too! Check it out!

When this has been mentioned in the past it has been reported that they have debited the missing £50 from your account when you fail to complete your contract by returning. Might be difficult for them if you pay cash but they do have your address.

Yes .+1 Ferry co's always used to crge the full undiscounted fare if you didn't use return part + a fine to pay for some new engines ! That's why they insist you pay by card. :)

hope the weather gets worse then :LOL:as it is currently in mid 20's in shade !!

Well it had to happen!
On a narrow bit of road an oncoming French van clipped our wing mirror and completely demolished it.
Nothing left of the the back casing and quite a bit of the surround has gone too. The mirror itself is cracked in a hundred places but is held on with duct tape and gives some semblance of a rear view.
Gwen is distraught.
Just arrived at the campsite in Essaouria.
There's been a cold sea most all the way up the coast but it has lifted a little. Still a cold breeze though.

well been home 4 days washing all done camper cleaned out washed and polished, was we really there spain morocco and portugal. Please someone remind us we were
Oh yeh you were hun. It all seems like a distant memory now doesn't it ? We are back in a routine back at Albir. Had a few get togethers and out tonight. Otherwise we are getting prepared for the journey back through France a week in Friday. Stopping off to meet with the rally in Benicarlo for a couple of days. Looking forward to seeing you at next rally. X

If he only works 2 hours a day he can't be selling much as his shop looks to be full of stuff:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Mike you have our sympathy, as we did exactly the same last year with an oncoming French Rapido. If you can find a glazier then you may be able to get a piece of mirrored glass siliconed over the top of the shattered glass which will get you back home. Ironically we had ours repaired in Tata last year and we are here in Tata today. The glass and the welding of the aluminium guts of the mirror cost us £15 approx and both repairs were done in the same street in the space of 3 hours.

Unfortunately Ken the whole assembly is a complete write off.
The body coloured moulding at the back disintegrated into a million pieces and much of the black ABS frame has gone the same way. The glass itself has largely held together although cracked in many many places and directions. Initially it was just dangling, held on only by the cable that presumably is for the heater.
There seems to be no aluminium guts of this assembly, just incomplete bits of ABS.

Sorry to read this. I hope Gwen has had a stiff drink or two and recovered from the shock.

Believe it or not, there is a Burstner wing mirror shop in Essaouria Mike, it is next to the melamime proctoscope shop, make sure you don't confuse the two when you order or else you will be getting a totally distorted rear view, Gwen may not like this! On the other hand....

The results of several pints of draught Bass!

Busman Dave are now at Tata, after

Graham re the road - when you reach the ascent out of Tafraoute and the road bears left for Agadir, we went right as expected. The road is pants for about 10km but then we turned right again before Igherm and followed a maps.me along a road which wasn't even on the Michelin paper map. Safe journey.

Visited the roman ruins at Volubilis yesterday. Well worth the visit and only 10 MAD entrance fee and free parking. Then moved to a nearby (11 km) campsite called Camping Zerhoun Belle Vue. Although 90 MAD (with lecce) and no WiFi, this is a smashing campsite, very peaceful and the owner makes very good food, served in his on-site restaurant. At present it's about 4/5th full with dutch and a few French Motorhomes. The campsite is about 28 years old and needs some work on it but the showers are hot and the lecce is OK even though cables can be seen in the ground. The Roman theme makes it an enchanting place to stay. We will stay here another day then move on to the lagoon MB tomorrow.
