This really is a stunning place. Watching the sun set last night and up early enough this morning to catch the sunrise. (Result of a very early night after sinking a couple of battleship's). Sadly, today we see the departure Of Colin, Tina, Terry and Brenda. It's been great being in their company and Terry in particular has done so much for this group. I'm sure I can speak for us all, in wishing them a safe journey as they continue through Moroc and then home. We look forward to being in their company again. Now looking forward to more Funsters joining us on Tafroute later today and plenty of space available throughout the whole parking area. Sunset, this morning.

Safe travels Terry, Brenda, Colin & Tina. Looks like you will have departed Tafraoute by the time we arrive.
Thanks from us also Terry & Brenda for all your hard work in organising, and Colin for getting the drones on to the internet, and to Tina for suffering endless drones traipsing in and out of your now very swish van.

Ken & Lynda

I have just heard mutterings in the yard that we might be finished today! Maybe rolling into Tafroute tomorrow after all.

Does anyone want anything picking up from Marjane?

My dear peeps, there is apparently a Carrefour in Agadir, at Avenue ghandi 8000, if you should happen to go there instead:rolleyes: I would be eternally grateful if you picked up two 24 trays of beer for me and a box of white wine or equiv in bottles, cheeky I know but needs must! From your favourite new friend and creep, Simon and Margaret Dabhand!

My dearest Simon. We have already sampled the wine available at Carrefour and was most satisfied with the result, gets you as p*ssed as any other wine. We had to walk so could not restock as we would have wished. We will endeavour to return to Carrefour when the van is ready.

What a kind offer! If you have the space and can carry the extra weight, I would appreciate 24 beers/lagers.
Many kind thanks in advance.

No problem. If we can park the van near the Carrefour we can bring beer. We didn't see an obvious car park yesterday.

If you've any room left guys, a case of Stork Beer plus 6 bottles each of Touareg Rouge and Touareg Blanc would be much appreciated.

Remember that the booze is downstairs hidden away at the Agadir Carrefours:cool::cool:

Arrived safely at Tafraoute in time for lunch after a mostly OK drive from Tata.
Our satnav decided we should head out of town in a certain direction but after a couple of miles I realised she was taking us along a route that looked decidedly dodgy on the Michelin map.
Turned round and coming back into Tata saw a sign for Guelmim. "That's the right direction" says the navigator (me) and Gwen follows said sign which took us into a very narrow street from which we were lucky to escape by turning round ina small square.
Back into town and the satnav lady has got the hump cos we didn't follow her instructions the first time so now she is giving us the silent treatment.
We return to our starting point and decide to retrace our original route into town when I have a brainwave (it happens occasionally). I found the coords for a site in Guelmim and our satnav lady tells us to do a U turn again back into town but this time at least we get on the road we want.
The R109 out of Tata is a fine road and the scenery is good. We decide to take the short cut across from Issafen to avoid trekking about 40km further North to Igherm and 40km back South on the R106.
Well it certainly saves distance but not sure if it saves much time as it is hairpin bends almost from start to finish with a hell of a climb out of Issafen. The road surface is mostly good although narrow with just a couple of washed out oueds and one lot of roadworks. It's slow going though because of the climbs and the constant bends.
However the scenery is stunning.
The biggest problem is that there are no road signs! Coming from Tata you turn left just as you enter Issafen - we were lucky as there was a car stopped by the junction and we asked. There are a couple of places where there are possible turnings that are unsigned but thankfully we guessed correctly both times.

Apart from being caught in a van overload with alcohol in a Muslim country.

Blimey, you should have seen everyone's van stocked up for the crossing. I think we had the least, Gwen told us off and sent us off to buy more!!
I make the shopping list so far -

Touareg Rough x 6
Touareg Blanc x 9
4 slabs of beer (stork or similar)

Ken is Touareg the Maroc 1ltr bottles with screw tops?

Mike have you tried , maps.me others have said it shows the new roads that are not on any maps and you can download it for off line use and use GPS co-ords

Just been told the road out of Sidi Ifni to Guelmin is now passable ,
The first 300 mts out of Sidi is rough track but ok after that ,
MH near us has just been today to ride it on his motorcycle .

Had a ride on the bus to Sidi Ifni this morning. The area where the two campsites stood as you enter the lower end of the town is like a scene from the blitz. The main road has gone with a detour round to the bottom of the hill. Should imagine it will be a good while before they get the campsites back up and running. El Barco appears to be ok with only the entrance road having been blocked by mud. There were certainly a few vans in there with even a few front sea view pitches vacant. A local restauranteur told us that a 'camping car' had been lost to the floods.

Well the sun has been shinning throughout the day here at Sidi- Kaouki But about midday the wind decided it wanted to spoil things and its been blowing a howler ever since, sorry fellow Funsters but our Moroccan experiences has left us felling that January is in our opinion the wrong time to come here, reading the 'spill' on this interesting Country the end of Feb-March their Official Spring Time probably would have suited us better...not a grip but an observation:unsure::cool:

I would not agree with it being the wrong time of year, surely it is the warmest place to go with your motorhome in January, which is why we are here.
