Morocco 2015

I wonder what our cassette and waste tank smell like now, hope it's not stinking out the workshop! :Eeek:

I travelled down in our van to Benidorm, parked it up for 4 weeks while we stayed at the apartment..
Like you forgot about the toilet cassette... To be honest was nothing there at all, no bad smells... So it may be the least of you worries..
That is until you start moving it all about... :giggler:

It doesn't matter what it smells like as we are getting her back today, it could be the worst smell ever and we will still be extremely happy to be on the road again.

Lovely hotel break but it ain't got wheels and you wake up with the same view everyday - a major flaw in architecture in my opinion.

Thinking of everyone crossing tomorrow. All the best, wish we were with you all

Pleased to report that all 12 of the "Morocco 2015" group are safely ensconced at Asilah. Most are currently sitting in Maroc Telecom waiting to get internet - but I tried using my old one from last year and got connected straightaway - don't know how long it will last though.

Following our experiences today I'll update the resources sheets I prepared. Also Carlos went much further than his usual helpful self when at 9.45 last night he came round to the van and told us the tunnel to the docks was closed due a serious accident. He then "abducted" me and took me out in his car (and that's another story:eek:) and showed me an alternative route. As it happened the tunnel opened just before we got there this morning so all was ok. Thought it very good of him though.:)

@Armytwowheels good news Sandra and Colin - yes do join up with Makems and come on out.(y)

Great news,,,
12 vans... A bit more managable than last years (17 I think)... :)

Keep the stories and pictures coming. Looking forward to it all..
Maybe 2016 for me,,,,,,,,

Maroc Telecom - Jeeeeezzzzzuz. I was second in the queue at 14:30. It didn't open until 14:45. Spent the next 1.5 hours with an excellent guy on the desk. He had good English and ensured the internet sim was working in my device and able to connect to the Net. One month 8Gb for 109 Dirhams. (y)

However, Dabhand Simon is still in the shop as I type this.:( His Netgear device provided by MotorhomeWifi would not connect for love nor money. Simon said it was the Sim Card but the guy in the shop tried the sim in Busman Daves device and it worked ok.

Meanwhile Lynda & Marg were having a coffee over the road and Jess was screaming to get her teeth round a flea bitten moggie which seemed hell bent on teasing the dog cos she was fastened on a lead

I think Asilah is a great first introduction.. Small friendly town part modern, part traditional.... Just right for your first walk about and get the feel of things...

Yeah the beach is crap and litter strewn BUT you will get used to that and there are many better one's to come...

Jealous already....

Its sunny and warm Steve not wind and rain like last year:cool:

Thats when Irene got
"pi###ed" in the Champers van, dancing outside with the Guardians etc..

AND. I HAD TO COOK MY OWN TEA......

:whistle2::rofl:

@ Canopus we are on our 2nd 100Dh card, I think the T&C are different from last year. It is 8gb for 100Dh as opposed to unlimited data last year.

Welcome all to Morocco, no doubt we will bump into some of you and sometime on your travels.

However, Dabhand Simon is still in the shop as I type this.:( His Netgear device provided by MotorhomeWifi would not connect for love nor money. Simon said it was the Sim Card but the guy in the shop tried the sim in Busman Daves device and it worked ok.

If Simon is still struggling get him to PM me or drop me an e-mail - we've at least 5 customers in Morocco with Netgears that I know about - just a case of entering the APN settings correctly which requires that you set the authentication type to PAP or else the APN won't activate.

well, where all at camp 'Terry's' in Assilah car park we've been in the Maroc Telecom shop for over three hours they could not connect us so just bought the Sim card and connected it to the Marco 3g ourselves..just like to say what a really nice bunch of fellow travellers we have had the
pleasure to travel with.:):):)

We've got Simon sorted - problem seems to be the APN which the very helpful guy in the shop doesn't seem to understand. We're now in the process of getting the others sorted but the shop closed an hour ago and there still seems to be some Funsters inside!

We are at Camping International El Jadida 33°14'24.5"N 8°29'19.2"W
65dir a night. Its a nice town quite modern along the promenade, the site is probably par for the course :cautious:. I noticed last year that some peeps were putting the co ords down for favourable sites! Would be good for others reading the posts and following if we could all do that?
Just a suggestion

Thanks to TerryL, for a) taking the trouble to sort the ferry to Maroc out and spending the evening with Carlos when the Port tunnel was blocked to find a new route, b) sorting my MIFI out in a couple of minutes when the guy in the telecom shop couldn't in 3 hours, and c) for generally being an all round nice guy.
Sorry to all my fellow travellers for assisting in making them have to stop so long in the telecom shop and to the only sue for making her have to walk all the way back!!

Remember you lot over there...

Last year we actively tried to promote FUN at some of these campsites and some gave a "special price".
Always worth asking and flashing a MHF sticker, If you do negotiate a deal ask them to give to other funsters who may be following on later.
Also one that sometime worked for me.. "My friend.. I am English !! Not french !!. Special price ?":rofl:

There's a lot less French over here - we outnumbered them at Asilah last night.
Everybody now under way, thanks for all the comments guys; now get out there and enjoy yourselves.(y)(y)(y)

We've just stopped at a service station outside Kenitra - a truck driver has just stopped in front of us and jumped out to say his daily prayers. He'll be seeing Allah a lot sooner than he thinks if he stays there IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD!

We are now parked at the guardian parking inTaroudant. There are 12 vans 11 French and US. We have not seen a UK MH for 3 days and have only passed 2 whilst on the road and none on campsites.

We were the same. Came clockwise asillah, meknes, midelt, merzouga, ouarzazate then taroudant.
Only saw one uk van in three weeks - then we got to Taghazout!!!

At last sorted with the tinternet. Big thank you to Colin for getting me on line Nad providing valuable support. Also, Terry, brilliant administrator who looked after us and helped us understand the entry and exit process.
Now having what looks like a mega lunch (don't recall ordering half of this stuff) just north of Casablanca before continuing our journey to Marrakech. Driving through Rabat was an experience however the toll roads are great and good progress can be made. Pictures to follow later perhaps and an update on the campsite in Marrakesh. Safe Travels.

The Only Sue. Are you gonna catch up with us today ? Two reasons be good to see you and 2nd I forgot to get my phone off you before we left. If you are not coming until tomorrow, take care driving !

Now in Camping Ferdaous. Hooked up to lecce which is showing reversed polarity even after fitting my R.P. Coupling ? However, everthing seems to be alright, with Fridge switched over to 230V and laptops tooth brush all on charge with no protest and of course batteries indication 14.4 V. The Campsite looks OK to me ! (My first Moroccan Campsite !). total cost per day with Lecce 74 DH. It's a large open square (All graveled and level) with motor-homes parked around the outside of the square. Our pitch is near to the bar/restaurant and has a tap close by which I assume is drinking water ? will find out before use. (We only drink bottle or boiled water anyhow). Plenty of space here and easy to get to although sat nav indicates your here when you have about another 200 yrds to go (Past Fuel station). I will have a look at toilets and showers later and get back to you. We left Assilah to get to the better weather. At present we are sitting under very dark clouds and it looks like it's been raining most of the day. Sods Law. Anybody need more info let me know. Oh! Colin was right about the Radar guns, we have seen cops hiding in bushes in the median on the toll roads and they seem to love approaches to toll booths and roundabouts, particularly near speed signs. Not been caught yet but have seen plenty of locals being pulled in and I assume fined. Mena sends her warmest and we booth hope to meet up with some/all of you again in the not to distant future. Safe Travels.

Hi Philippft, exactly 12months ago we were parked at Ferdaous, very handy site, the site owner last year gave Motorhome Fun a discount, he runs a taxi service into Marakesh and was very reliable.
The showers were ok you just have to remember that it's Morocco and for there they are not bad. Enjoy the difference, but don't judge Morocco on Marakesh the other city's are a lot calmer and Marakesh you need your wits about you, but I would not miss it for anything.

Take a torch with you , if you go for a shower... last year , every time it rained the lights went out lol ,

Exchange rate at hole in the wall on wed on my halifax clarity was 14.07 d to the pound we got 13,65d for cash at port and 13.75d in assilah cambio ,
