Morocco 2015

Do you still have to drive along the beach to get in or have they opened the new entrance they were building last year at the back corner?

Same as last year drive along the beach new entrance still not finished.

Sidi Kiouki . Last year we saw wild tortoise crossing the road and a biker in the bar said he had seen what he thought was a broken cambelt on the road that turned out to be a Cobra ...
We stayed at the campsite with the water barrel..in the vicarious book. Lol

Do you have the co ords for Sidi Kouki? or will I need them ?

We were told to shift from the aire at Sanlucar as the circus had come to town. The circus wallers had monopolised the water supply overnight such that nobody could get any water. Took the rubbish to the skip and heard some whimpering. Some bastard had left four puppies in a bucket by the wheelie bin. Told a Spaniard and he more or less said 'thats life' as Simon has already said.

All the motorhomes have now shifted from the aire and are now camped at the 'local dogging spot', judging by all the detritus, about a mile further along the beach. Might see some action tonight (roflmao).

Nice and sunny here, 80 odd miles to Algeciras tomorrow.

Now making good progress through Spain and stopped for a coffee between Valladol I'd and Zafra. Setting off Saturday was a nightmare. DFDS cancelled our Calais crossing and sent us to Dunkel que 4.1/2 hours later. Driving down to Chateaunun was a real pig with the weather but from Sunday onwards blue skies and good weather, apart fr from mornings, all below zero. Nowner on track and will be in Zara in a couple of hours and Algeria around 1_2 pm, latest tomorrow.

I did and couldn't find it lol

@Armytwowheels - any developments? Heard a rumour that it might be a bit expensive.

Hi Terry
It's the fuel pump, which as it was seizing caused the cambelt to come off point and start to thread/wear (good job that didn't go snap!). The pump has been removed and sent to a specialist in another town. There are 3 possible options - repaire, replace with new, replace with reconditioned. We should know more by midday tomorrow. Also a new cambelt has been ordered but as of 6:30pm had not turned up.

Insurance has paid for us to stay in a hotel for a maximum of 3 nights, after that we have to pay. We cannot stay in the van as it is on the ramps with a front wheel removed.

One of my worries is that we had no opportunity to empty the full cassette or waste tank, it's going to honk when we get it back!:Eeek::Eeek:

We obviously will not make the crossing on 15th and will need to decide if we still cross to Morocco depending on the final bill. If it's massive we will stay in Spain or drive to Portugal, perhaps freeload at @JJ 's

Hope you guys can make it. I know you have had your hearts set on coming for some time.
We broke down last year, and was in a hotel like yourselves !! Long story
Is the dog with you?
I wouldn't think a water pump and new cam belt is going to be a horrendous bill "fingers crossed"
I you need any Info re the crossing what to do etc. just ask or leave a message
Marc Sam n Max

We hope you can get over . Ok its 200€ but only about £2 A night over here and diesel is about 60 p so after a few weeks you wil get your ferry money back and start to be in pocket .even if you stay here for 3 months then run for home it could work out cheaper than spain or portugal . Van costs happen all the time its a fact of mh life . It cost us £400 plus last time for the egr valve . enjoy the hotel break and we hope to see you soon . G n R

Thanks for the encouragement guys. We still want to make it and catch up with you all if we can.

It's the fuel pump that's gone and yes the dog is with us, currently enjoying life as a hotel dweller. Although a randy stay tried it on with her today in the old quarter, she wasn't keen on that!

OK both, we'll carry on without you but hope that it doesn't work out TOO expensive and you can catch up later. On the positive side, it happened in Spain and not Morocco.............!(y)

All the groups best wishes to you.

Currently at Taliouine (107 in the book), bit of an admin day for us, get the washing done and give the MH a clean inside. Great site Dh80 per night with good EHU, clean showers/toilets,free wifi and a fantastic view from the office :)

Some good news at last, our fuel pump is repairable, which not only means the bill will not be quite so horrendous but that the repair should be quicker than ordering a new pump. The new cam-belt has arrived today too. As soon as the pump is repaired and returned (hopefully tomorrow) they put everything back together and the problem is solved - hopefully.

I wonder what our cassette and waste tank smell like now, hope it's not stinking out the workshop! :Eeek:

Great news Sandra. (y)

Having been there and done that more than once, we are extremely pleased for you both, as it is such a worry, especially when repairs are not possible, and repatriation is the only option. :(

Although you'll have missed the arranged ferry crossing for the 15th, at least you'll be able to make your own way, or enjoy Spain this time round, and do Morroco another time. :)

All the best,

Jock & Rita. :)

Happy to meet up with you if you can make those dates.
We will be stopping as usual at Asilah first night and then Mohammedia the next. After that we are doing an unconventional clockwise tour belting down to Marrakech to meet some relatives and then scooting straight down to the desert.

That sounds like a plan. If everything goes well in the next day or two and we are back on the road we would be pleased to meet up with you of or the crossing, then we haven't got a plan of action once over.
