Morelo or Concorde

Well as our windscreen wasn't fitted this morning we hot footed it back to dusseldorf and we have made our decision of which motorhome to go for.
The reasons we didn't go for the concorde are
1. Difficult to get a scooter in as there's only 1 proper garage door and a little one on the other side.
2. No trade in.
3. Personally having to register in the uk.

Reasons we didn't go for the phoenix
1. Having to pay the vat in Switzerland and then paying in the uk the vat and awaiting it to be paid back from the dealers.
2. 3300 swiss franc extra cost on top
3. Just couldn't accept the ugly duckling look
4. No trade in.
well if it’s a bonded in windscreen, it can’t be moved for 48hours Concorde booked us into a fabulous hotel well the replacement screen was fitted to our Centurion

Unfortunately we have decided to not purchase the morelo at this time, we are both disappointed but we couldn’t come to a deal with the dealer for the trade in price and as there's only 1 uk dealer there is nowhere else to deal with.
This and the fact the factory are doing no discounts (to be honest I wasn't expecting any discount).
We will enjoy the motorhome we have, although it's not exactly how we want it we do appreciate it.
Thank you to everyone for there advice.

Sorry you guys are disappointed but I do have a suggestion that is under 8 metres with a better chassis under it and it even has a pull out kitchen in the back so you could do a bit of event catering if you wanted to

Thank you, interesting motorhome.

Really sorry to hear Mr Porky:( We have the Loft 78F and never felt the need for the retarder. Have you thought of selling your present vehicle privately? We have just sold our small 2 year old Globecar. It was my first time at selling privately. It was easy through auto trader and this site also. Mind you it was like yours, rare to see for sale, so had 6 interested parties within a week and first person to see it bought it at asking price.. Only a possible suggestion:)

It's a good suggestion, we may go down that route but it will have to go on hold for now and I will look at it next April. Which will of course push back the new delivery time to 2024. (Currently delivery is promised for September 2023)

What's up with the one you have?

I thought in the end the one you had settled on wasn't under 8 metres anyway so. Maybe it's a sign

You should keep what you've already got.

We are thinking that.
We may end up keeping this and purchasing a 6.3m van to do greece and turkey next spring.
Nothing is wrong with our current morelo Home. However the morelo Loft had a better layout for our needs, it also would have had some extra bits and pieces we deemed nice but not essential.

You would manage around Greece in the one you have too. Lots of big vans going around there both years I was there.

have I remembered correctly that you guys are fulltiming? If so delivery schedules are going to make life very difficult.

I can't really see the issue with doing Greece in a larger Motorhome, We were considering it for this trip and definitley not put off by size whereas I think trying to squeeze us into a PVC would be easier to find places but would certainly end badly domestically . There are plenty of people doing Greece in larger Motorhomes

Interesting thought, we have just bought a 2 year old Carthago c-compact I 138DB (6.4m x 2.12m) to tour uk:) We love it.

We travel 9 months of the year in the motorhome, 3 months in hotels or air b&b for work.
I will discuss with Phil on the greece and turkey trip as to whether its a possibility in the morelo.

Wow what a disappointment, for you as well I imagine  understandable though given the circumstances you outline, not sure about the Clou that Jon linked to though:unsure:

I was fancying it as a spare:giggle:

Trust me there were bigger vans in Greece, and I saw a few morelos, concordes, some with trailers and cars on them too. Sure there are some places you wouldn't take one but you'd also not take a new expensive pvc there either.

I took the cheap iveco some places last year I wouldn't take the motorhome but mostly because it was a cheap van with not great condition or value so I didn't have to care about it. But there was more than enough other places I'd happily take the tag axle I have now

I've been doing this a long time now. IMHO it doesn't matter what you have because it will never be the right size for every occasion, and there will always be someone with a bigger one, so you might as well get on with doing what you want to do in what you want to do it in.

If you look at the reviews for the place we're on now, they complain that the access is narrow and forget it anything bigger than 7m, but there's a 12m RV in here.

"You look like a pretty nice kid to me Billy - but if you try that again I'm going to........"

John Hurt also great acting.

We're off to Istanbul in November for a mooch.
Over three trips I've found the turks to be very pleasant.
I did work with Turkish gastarbeiters in Germany several summers and they were a rough bunch.

Our thoughts exactly Jon.

Can you not use a German dealer?
There is quite a bit of stock aswell which would mean delivery straight away, just a thought.

Let’s be honest guys, you can get into a pickle in any size Motorhome, and there aren’t many places I wouldn’t go, you just have to plan routes more carefully, but with streetview, it’s made it so much easier. I’ve just got back from Corfu, after watching the coach and lorry drivers on the long and tedious airport transfer, I’m tempted to say just go for it, as they’re all bigger than your Morello. The best advice I was given was when I went to Morocco for the first time, ‘Use defensive driving’, as you will come off worse if you don’t’ Have fun guys, see you in field sometime (y)

too right, as long as there are bus stops and wheelie bins your probably ok

I think they are very similar in quality they just have styling difference’s. The Concordes are a little more subdued inside. I can confirm any after sales at the factory if needed is on hand.
Subdued I think not

Yes I find that a lot ...squeekybum drivers that can't drive their motorhome leave reviews saying places were tight or too small etc ...but only if you can't drive the vehicle you are in .

I'm pretty good at tight roads after driving 7.5t wagons with 3,5t trailers on the back in the uk since I was 18 years of age. But I've been to greece mainland and islands and some of the roads just seem a bit more suitable for a smaller 3.5t van.
However after a few comments from yourself and other funsters I think I just need to get on with it and just do it.
