Well I have no idea what that was , he was fine when he got up this morning I took them all out for a pee as normal , then they had breakfast . About 20 minutes after breakfast he was sick .. looked just like his food .. nothing out the ordinary. I had told him off as he did his usual of being sick in about 4 different places. He'd went in to his bed , blu kept going over to him and then I noticed he was twitching a bit and that he had pooped . I lifted him out the bed and on to the sofa and he was just lying completely still eyes glazed and not moving or responding to me ... this went on a good 5 minutes with me trying to get him to respond . He didn't so I drove to the nearest vet I could find. Typically when I got there he was a bit more awake but still not his usual self . Had to wait a bit for the vet to have a look. Vet checked his heart and temperature.. he was a little cold but heart was OK

He said it wasn't symptoms of poison or anything. Didn't think he'd had a seizure or a fit .. ... so we don't know , maybe just an upset tummy and a bit of stress .

He's still quiet and just lying in bed ... thirsty as he's drank a fair bit.

Vet gave him an injection of something and has given me tablets to give him for diarrhoea in case he gets that as poop very smelly... charged me nearly €60 for the privilege and just Said keep an eye on him and if it happens again take him back to a vet.

This wasn't like any of the things that happened before and he's not had a funny turn since we were in Ireland which is a good 18 months or more now .

He seems fine at the minute if a little restless but sleepy . He seems to be struggling to get comfortable.

Will just have to see how he is .

I'm back at weiss kirche now
Sorry to hear about Milo hope he picks up soon Tam

Sending love to wee Milo, I know the vet said no but sounds to me like a fit or a turn or whatever you want to call it, especially the glazed over unresponsive bit your describing trouble is they're so hard to detect in animals that can't tell you what's wrong with them, but hopefully he'll be on the mend again very soon ❤🐶🐕

Hope Milo gets better quickly Tam.
What you described reminded me of recent post about 'twisted gut' which my old dog had. Symptoms were vomit, poo, unresponsive. I don't expect that's what Milo has (vet would have recognised) but please watch him very carefully (I know you will of course) as it needs immediate attention.
Thoughts are with you, horrible having a poorly pet.

Poor Milo - hopefully he just needs rest now, to recuperate.

Curiosity:
When looking at possible park-ups, do you routinely make a mental note of "facilities" such as supermarkets/chinese shops, garages or vets?
I don't really...I just try to find places out the way ..preferably somewhere we can have a walk. I just Google things as and when we need them . Luckily there were 3 vets within 5 miles of us so I just went to the first one

Yes I read that post the other day .. but it didn't seem like that. I thought he was having some sort of seizure but he wasn't fitting as in involuntary movements or anything he was just completely still very slow calm breathing no eye movement or anything.

Was very strange

He's very quiet and lethargic today but also very clingy ...he doesn't want to be far from me. We've had a little walk round a field which he did OK... looked like he was trying to poo but nothing came of it.

We're just going to spend the rest of the day in the camper and hopefully he feels better tomorrow.

Yes that's always the problem...if they could talk it would be easier . It could simply be something he's eaten that's given him tummy ache and he's just feeling sorry for himself ..... who knows

Maybe I should have held off on going to the vet buy you can't help but worry when they act out of character. Hopefully it's nothing and he's better tomorrow

These are your family Tam , if you had held off going to the vet and something had happened to Milo you would be right pissed with yourself.

I would have done exactly what you did.

Can dogs faint? Humans can vomit & poo if they faint, so just wondered if he just got a bit hot & bothered & fainted.
I'm not sure but it was first thing this morning and not warm at that time , we were parked under trees in the forest.

When I took them all out for a pee first thing he had disappeared round the other side of the van so when he was sick I assumed he'd possibly eaten something outside....... which could still be the case.
I was worried about poison etc which is what I'd told the vet but he said it wasn't the normal response and that poison wasn't commonly used here etc

So I don't know ..it could be anything, he said if the same thing happens again that maybe he'd Need bloods taken to test for any diseases etc.

He's still restless and clingy which isn't good as it's warm now ...

Poor Milo and you too Tam. What a shame. We did the Romantic Road a few years and there's some beautiful places although we found the best ones weren't actually on the road but near it.
Hope for good news of Milo soon. I suppose the others are ok?

Yes I did it in winter time with my hymer the first time I went to Greece, I thought I had visited more of the places than I did though. We did weiskirche this morning after the vet fiasco ... I'll post pics of that later and then we drove to landsberg am lech where we are now .... not visited the town yet as Milo didn't seem keen on the walk and there was a huge storm just after we got here. Will have a look at it tomorrow..but then I'm tempted to divert and visit dachua after ausburg as I've never been before and I think it would be interesting... then back to rothenburg....Will see

The other 3 are fine although I did find a tick on each of them just a wee while ago so they must be due their tick treatments again

Milo seems OK now other than a bit lethargic and clingy but not been sick or anything again at least ....out of them all I worry about him the most as he's had a few funny episodes over the last few years

Maybe he did eat something Tam but you definitely did the right thing in taking him the vet. We had to rush our boy the vet 3 weeks ago and we really thought he wouldn't be coming home but he's still here stinking the place out and ruling my life and we wouldn't have it any other way. Its just a pity he hates the van that's why we are unable to have any adventures for the foreseeable future  hugs to Milo

Stopped at a service aire as I can use my toilet now which is a novelty ... filled up with water and emptied free .. parked up for lunch which is where my step decided not to retract. ( no power whatsoever not even to warning light) sitting having lunch this bus pulled in , driver got out stuck a cigarette in her mouth then dropped her pants and took a pee by the side of the bus in the camper aire lol

Did that this morning after the vet , I remember this place from the last visit and had to come back as the paintings are stunning. Its free entry and well worth a visit if you're in the area

Yes he's fair priced .

The guy this morning was not and to be honest he wasn't too caring as he kept me waiting ages before checking milo over despite me saying he'd collapsed and was non responsive etc. I think it's rare to find one that cares more for the animals than the money . I don't know where this one got €57.95 from for a small injection and 6 tablets for diarrhoea. But what can you do 🤷‍♂️

Its a VW 181 Tam, based on the Kubelwagen from WW2, does sound like Milo has eaten something he shouldn't have! The bus driver reminds me of an ex colleague I worked with, he had a fetish about women having a pee known as Golden Showers for obvious reasons!

I know 😁, I'm an ex vw nut ...I didnae call it a thing cause I didn't know its name lol , its because that's what they're known as ....its mostly an American term but on the UK vw scene they were called that too.

You also got a shwimwagen which was amphibious but you don't see so many of those.

I thought golden showers was actually having someone pee on you lol.

The annoying thing is there are more fecking mosquitoes here than there were in Greece... Austria was the Same I'm literally covered in bites , my legs read like brail . But my arms and neck have several bites too and even taking anti histamine daily as I've been doing since Greece I'm still feckin itchy . Also lots of these big stable/horse/dog flies which are a nightmare
