MOBY GOES TO TURKEY. A tam and pups adventure.

Peace & tranquility has returned to Lancing.

The graphics have really transformed the old girl, last time I saw her in August being honest the outside was a bit tatty now she looks like a gracefull old lady.
I don’t think you should speak of Tam in such a way,he tries his best.😂😂😂😂
I was thinking exactly the same!!!!

We are in Arques-la-bataille for the night, just a wee carpark by a lake about 15 minutes drive from the ferry , didn't fancy driving much further today and wanted to stop before it got dark. Only one other van here a classis French pilote.

This will do fine for tonight. Crossing was calm and hassle free

When I went to bed last night around 11pm there was only myself and that one other van on this wee wildspot. Woke up this morning there's another motorhome behind me , a converted van , and then this motorhome and toad across from me and a brave soul in a small car and big tent .

I thought a frames were illegal in France? This outfit is French registered

Heading towards Briare today ... its sort of south west of Paris, east of Orleans... around 390km away so without tolls its a good 5.5 hours in a car so we will see how we get on. Wet rainy morning and it doesn't get light till after 8.30am . I'm hoping I'm not in for a wet cold winter. I need to tighten my alternator belt too as the squeaking is driving me nuts. Every single van I've had a cambelt change done on has had a squeaking alternator belt afterwards they never tighten it enough

I like camping but couldn't do it these days. Fair play to those that do. I've seen too many people rock up to a wet and dark campsite and piddle about trying to get their tent up. It must be soul destroying.

Looks like the weather will improve soon. If it’s any consolation it’s crap here too. Anyway, the rain is a good way for you to check the van doesn’t leak! Every negative has a positive :giggle:
Do you carry spare belts jic?

Currently in Italy on our way home and it’s lovely sunshine, blue skies but colder of course.

Near Milan this morning.

I’m sure the weather will improve for you the more south you come. Deeply envious of you starting your trip as we end ours but looking forward to sharing it vicariously.
Love and hugs to you and the dogs.

I have a spare alternator belt but that was a new one just fitted when Cambelt done. I know they stretch a little after fitting but this one started squeaking almost immediately, worse when cold off course .

Safe onward journey, I understand the apprehension this trip, as it started with a rush to leave on your part, and little hiccups to here, wet rain never helps. BUT it will improve and your mood will lift with the warmth and sun.
look after your wee dogs as they will pick up your mood too

In other news I've now booked my ferry from italy to Greece with viamare , so I'm on that 3rd December bari to igoumenitsa. Just hope I have no more issues with the van. I'm a lot more anxious this year than I have ever been.
You are bound to feel that way, especially travelling solo, no direct support when shit happens, feels a lonely place then and every minor issue magnified, difficult to think calmly and logically at first. What you do have on your side is vast experience and hundreds of funsters who very much love you, your dogs and your adventures and would do anything to help, and of course, Uncle Lenny at the end of the phone who probably knows as much about your van as you do. Good luck, another funster following your trip (and my dog of course)

Have you ever tried putting some shoe Polish, applied with a shoe brush on a running dynamo/alternator belt when it's on tick over?
Stops 'squeaky' belts.
