I tried the 00. The ‘texture’ was amazingly close, but I wasn’t keen on the flavour. Whatever it was, it didn’t taste like Guinness to me. 🤷‍♂️

Best pint of Guinness I’ve had recently was from The California Inn, California Cross, S. Devon. Superb pint. Expensive, mind, at £7 per pint. 🤔

I'm 56 and never had a pint of guinness. I was going to go to Ireland in September and would have tried one but as they have their own definition of dangerous dogs and mine would have to be muzzled the whole time they can stick it. I was going to look at property but that's out the window now.

Well I wouldn't say "haven't done anything " you've been doggy sitting ,securing the fence from blu the escape artist and providing the transport to fetch the supplies. As uncle Lenny HB will confirm trying to work around the dogs is half the battle so makes it much easier if they're out the way .
Ref 'doggy sitting' ... does that mean he's been measuring up Blu for a saddle?

Why don’t you use Lino floor tiles for the floor Tam if your no good at laying Lino.Easier to do small bits at a time and easier to cut. 👍
As for the Guinness, glad you liked it. Now when you’re away you can have an Irish diet……six pints of Guinness and a potato. 👍 Cheers.

All this talk of Guinness brought back some memories!
During the mis,-spent days of my youth, whilst living with an alcoholic, before I became the next best thing to T-total, I used to drink draft Guinness but ....I always dunked a bar of milk chocolate in it!
I reckon the sight of me doing that could clear a bar of regular drinkers in moments! but it really is a good combination!😀😀.
Though I have to admit to not having had Guinness or milk chocolate for years lol..

As Mikey RV says Tam, plenty of Guinness & spuds is all you need, you know I didn't get to be this fine physic of man by just going to gyms & on diets.....

I think the floor will turn out great , the biggest concern is laying new lino as I'm crap at that and obviously the original stuff went under all the units etc which we can't do without completely dismantling the van which we are not doing.

The bathroom wall will be more of a challenge, I'm panicking but mackeellan thinks it's no problem . ..i have faith View attachment 933697
Aw, come on Tam. I've made a mess of more expensive bathrooms than this in my time 🤗😀🤣

Northernraider you never had a Guinness the whole time you were in Ireland?
hi Gary

let Tam know that if he likes guinness but wants to keep alcohol free the Guinness 00 I think is excellent, really smooth, not bitter at all and very drinkable

It’s the future 😉👍
Alan quite enjoyed the 00 Guinness too.

Thats what I was originally going to use lol. But mackeellan found these stick on tile things on ebay which I'd bought .. I'm not entirely convinced lol but I spent £60 on them so we might have to see how they work out.

I started drinking guiness to P off an uncle who said females couldn't drink it, I certainly handled it better than he did but then i only had a pint not 10.

Surely alcohol free cider is just apple juice.

I've been drinking that too. The thatchers is great. Only issue I have is why they add so much sugar and make it too sweet.
It's to give it the 'mouth feel' that you lose when you remove the alcohol.

Same with zero wines, tend to be very sweet.

But cider is an alcoholic drink, if there is no alcohol how can it still be cider? Semantics though
Not sure I agree. Cider is fermented apple juice. The question is if you take the alcohol out of it after, is it still cider? The same rule could apply to ale, lager, gin and yes..... Guinness 😁

What annoys me about all these alcohol free variants is they're virtually the price of the alcohol version with no added duty for the alcohol 🤷‍♂️

I agree Guinness 00 is pretty good but I can tell the difference and much prefer the alcohol version 🙂
They must be very profitable for the brewers
