Martin you're a star , I said to Chris mackeellan the first time we viewed it that the headlights were knackered but I had no idea where you got them ...I also wondered how they'd not been advised on the mot . Be interesting to see if they do or not today.

It seems theyre now £42 each from opie oils so I'll order up a set of those when I get it

Since when do they allow people into the stones?

Last time I went you had to keep to the path.

Anyway, back to the van, was that a spare cassette upside down in the garage?
It seems the folk arriving every 20 minutes on a "special access" bus get free reign to walk around the protected ancient monument lol , but the peasants aren't allowed near it . Usual money making nonsense .

Yes I would have thought they would be a fail, the light surround comes off with two wing nuts behind so easy to get at the units to change them over, could have a coat of metallic silver paint while they are off ;)

Are all the internal cupboard handles OK or is the chrome peeling?

strewth, she's had a lucky escape and also very lucky to have you around too..
our hero..

hope you manage a bit more sleep now..

.
Well sleep wasn't great lol as her and the couple of tattooed done heads stood outside discussing it from 4am lol .. but I got up again about 7.30 , she was just driving off, says she's going to take it to some camper repair shop near here and have them sort it as she's now scared to use it. I think she got a hell of a fright , so good luck to her ,it's not a bad looking old van just a bit of a cowboy self build inside

Tam when you get the van, get those carpets out of it and either replaced or professionally cleaned (cost about £50) they will harbour a lot of dirt & bacteria and are also a source of your mold smell, they look like tufted carpets but if you do decide to replace them buy looped pile carpet and get the edges binded very easy to clean and don't hide as many nasties 👍

Yeah they're a bit minging Paul, think I'll try power washing them and if that fails might just get shot of them and have a couple of small rugs instead. I Normally removed carpets for easiness with dogs but sometimes it's nice to have a bit in the living room part

Nice one Tam!
If you're going to name the van it should be 'Jackpot' - you've certainly hit it with this one.
Glad you have the cab door (y)
Imagine if the hab step broke without one.
Exciting times. !
All the best
Vic
Yes I'm glad of the cab door makes life easier when getting diesel etc too

That's another handy tip as those surrounds need painting badly . I think I'm going to have them done white though as I think it would look better . Cab door needs done too as its grp and different shade from the body.

All the handles seem fine but one of the spot lights inside all the chrome is falling off that

Loop pile carpets and dog claws don't mix. 😳 Not unless you like big pulls in them.

The bus up to the stones is all part of the 25 quid entrance fee.
When we wilded there a couple of years ago just like you we just walked up the public footpath it goes near enough for a good view.
Back in the 70's we paid but it was a only about a quid and you were allowed right up to the stones with no restrictions.

Surely these things need
their own thread, I certainly didn't know of such thing

There a thread here:

Tell the truth now Garry, ie, you were up those steps and in our MH like a rat going up a drain pipe.

I did discover though that I can sleep length ways in the garage and have enough room for a little bedsit in there…😎
You didn't let on that you were sussing out our garage, as a template for your accommodation in Tam's new beast. ;)

Northernraider. Congratulations Tam. She's a quality built beast on the Iveco chassis. (y) Ours is 18 x years old now, and will still be going strong for at least another 10 x years down the line. ;) We've recently had the 4x shock absorbers and the track control arm bushes replaced, along with a major service at 190,000Kms, (116,000 miles).

Cheers,

Jock. :)

I guess that's the inverter hiding bottom left so about the same position as it was in our Flair, way too far away from the batteries and the voltage drop rendered it useless so it needs to be close to the batteries.

WOW Tam what a Beauty.
Know it needs a bit of fettling, but the roof looks cleaner than ours.

That’s correct, however, you can get direct access to the stones by arrangement (you have to pay them of course) with English Heritage, you go in for one hour before opening time. Security guard with you to make sure you don't do any damage. I go most years, although I would suggest it’s not a value item unless you have a real vs just curious, interest in the monument

Ah, that explains your funster name! Have you been to the ones in Ireland, especially New Grange?
