So I did a fair bit driving today as the weather was crap ... were now in quevauvillers a wee village outside of Amiens, drove past a lot of British War cemeteries today , never seen so many, a few Australian and Canadian ones too.

Needs a couple of Motorhomes to park across the back of them & the drivers go for a long walk.
That’s exactly what I did but instead of my motorhome some inconsiderate Italian parked in a electric charging bay and I needed to charge so parked directly behind and plugged in and went to the local market, when I came back the Italian woman was waving her arms all around and shouting, I simply pointed at the sign which clearly said NO PARKING unless charging 🤣

Yeah all of mine will shred a tissue or napkin etc if they get hold of one. They'll often rip paper etc they find outside to shreds too. That I don't mind so much its just mess but no harm done. Furniture and clothes etc is a no go though .

Drove a good 5 hours today though and she's not chewed anything so hopefully her stern talking to the other day got through lol.
Sometimes I just give up with my two. I gave them a right b""""g today for barking really badly at a couple of horse riders passing by and they just ran in wagging their tails and what I call giggle bums:ROFLMAO: The girls on the horses said "No worries they are not scared, they are used to dogs barking" phew.

Is that diesel or lpg powered? And how noisy is it 😁
Mine is petrol powered and it’s very quiet as generators go. It’s got a Honda GX160 engine.

If yours has the same TEC29 then when you service it (it slides out of the housing) replace all the sound deadening in the case and front and that makes a big difference.

Also if you find it troublesome to start and stay running let me know as they are renowned for poor starting/running but that is simply down to lack of use and carb/valves all gummed up and I removed the head and valves and re-ground them, replaced carb etc and it runs sweet as a nut and starts on 1st press of the button

If it’s a petrol motor if you add fuel stabilise it not only keeps the fuel fresh for upto two gears it also stops the carb gumming up.
Good point Lenny HB 👍 I now use fuel stabilizer but no good using it before doing a full strip down as it won’t help the problem of an already gummed up engine/carb 👍

So after lunch we headed back towards Munich and visited dachau concentration camp .. I never realised before that this camp was actually one of the main ones and a lot of the prisoners evacuated from the other camps were sent here. Its also incredibly hard to believe German citizens didn't know what was going on or that they were gullible enough and easy led to allow this to happen . Its free to enter the museum but they charge €5 per vehicle to park and it was crazy busy ... not sure I agree with there being profit made out of this either. A very sombre place. I spent over 2 hours in there but could easily have spent longer as there's so much to read , the conditions were appalling , the torture , the experiments etc . And yet despite many of the nazis from this camp being taken to war crime trials most were never convicted.

Reference your statement “the locals must have know what was going on”.
They did, and a couple who owned a bar on the road from Bergen Hohne to Belsen camp spoke about this and said some of their friends who protested at the treatment of the Jews, were dragged out and added to the queue !!!
I often talked with this couple ( Inge and Frederick) and it brought them to tears. !!!

Just been in the super u and then lidl for some wine and supplies.

Jeeso France is getting ridiculous with their prices lol. I buy much the Same stuff in lidl in various countries so the price comparison is very obvious.

Taking the pee wee comes to mind. So a few items to do me a few days and I'll be hitting asda when I'm back. My diet starts again tomorrow anyway. I want 3 stone off before I head off again in November. Got asked to look in my bags again today. That's only the second time in my entire life. Once in Germany and now I'm France. Quite offended actually as they have to be stereotyping because I'm tattoed

We were asked to show our shopping bags a few times on our last French holiday, it tended to be in areas where there appeared to be more poverty and migrants.

Max’s cousins daughter in law is Romanian and recently one of her friends came over to visit and they went into the local Sainsbury’s as they were leaving the security guard stopped them and asked for their receipt and went through all their bags.
Definite stereotyping as they were speaking in their native language.

Put it this way I was in the usual long lidl queue as they never have all the tills open .I never saw anyone in front of me having their bags checked so whilst it might be random they obviously pick certain people.
But no matter

We were in Germany last October when we came back through France we were surprised that food was cheaper in France than Germany. Food prices in Germany have really shot up.

Not this year for sure . France is ridiculous .

I just bought a few items to tide me over a few days as I won't get to asda till Tuesday/Wednesday as I've a tight schedule. Germany was dearer than Italy and Greece but France is the worst yet.

The wine is cheap and surprisingly sweet stuff seems a bit cheaper . But the bread I bought in Germany and Italy for €1.09 ...its €1.64 In France. A bottle of coke in Germany was €0.94 in France €1.65
The meat is ridiculous €6.95 for a 500gram pack of mince beef , €6.70 for 4 chicken thigh, legs

But I'm back on my soup, and cracker n cheese diet when I'm back in UK lol . My weight is ridiculous.

Both Lidl & Aldi have now asked to see inside my empty bags before packing, one local larger Aldi has a sign at the check out asking you to place empty bags on the conveyor belt to be checked as this saves them asking which as mentioned can offend some people.
The BBC News keeps mentioning how much shoplifting has increased over the last 2 years, it amounts to many millions of pounds, one smaller Vegan/Organic type specialist supermarket chain with 8/9 branches said that their shoplifting had increased to well over a million pounds a year. They also said it was all types and ages of customer doing it, especially regular more wealthy ones, as they sometimes feel they deserve a free high priced luxury item now and again as a reward for being a loyal regular customer.
Many may have experienced a full time security guard being placed inside their local small Sainsbury Local supermarket, or Tesco Local?, I must admit to being surprised at seeing that happen at our local Sainsburys Convenience store, but I am told that shoplifting of legs of lamb/Beef Steaks and wine & Beer was becoming a real problem.
