Yeah these aren't mosquitoes as you can't see them or hear them. I'm not sure if these bites were from the beach yesterday and only now appearing and itching or whether they've happened this evening but I have at least 20 bites , mostly under arms , thighs , groin area .. all the worst places. . But no mosquitoes in the van .

After a morning swim where I managed to coax both jade and ela to swim in the sea we moved on to kyllini where you can get the ferry to zakynthos and kefalonia.

I went to find out the prices .. for zante it's 84 euro one way for the camper and 13.50 for me .. so basically 200 euro return . For kefalonia it's 90 euro for the camper and 14 euro for me so 220 return


Not sure if it's worth it for a week or so ....

Actually I hadn't thought about going from kefalonia to lefkas ...that might be an idea.

I love zante but I've been there 3 times before on package holidays and I've explored the island by tours and by quad bike I hired , but I've never been to kefalonia before. I had planned to drive round lefkada this time so that might be an idea , get ferry to kefalonia from here one way then get one from North kefalonia to lefkas. The fuel and patras crossing would go some way to balancing out the cost.

I'll give that some thought .

7 metres, it wasn’t small small except compared to Dover/calais

Ah cool mine is around 7 meters too. Just wanted to check as when I tried to check prices online for zante and kefalonia I kept getting a message saying they couldn't quote for vehicles this size ...so I didn't want to get to north kefalonia and find ferry only took cars and small campers etc . But yeah that should work out fine then.

Might do that tomorrow, if I just buy a one way ticket I can please myself how long I stay.

Well I never asked as I asume they stay in the van for the crossing. Don't pay for dogs going from igoumenitsa to bari either.

It's a 90 minute crossing .

Smiling about things you discover after time, we have found several lights we didn't know we have, a couple only reachable by a 7footer with long arms, who ever heard of having to get steps to turn on the mood lighting
Our truma blown air can be set to blow cold air round, which we keep forgetting about when we are too hot.
If only we could find another 13amp socket, we only have 2 last van had 7, although that was a bit of overkill, except for the very handy one in the garage we found when we were clearing it out before part exing

Definitely worth it, kefalonia much prettier and wilder then zante, if you do decide to go to kefalonia I can provide you with some tips about what not to miss, it’s my number 2 favourite of about 12 Greek islands I have visited, been on kefalonia 4 times, it’s quite big so enough to explore in a week

I don't know what it is that makes me attract complete arse holes, this time a Greek family....although I suspect they were gypsies...either way complete assholes.


So we were at the beach, I deliberately took the dogs to the very far end of the beach away from anyone. There was no one at that end as its not the prettiest...but the water was shallow and it was fine for us ... I'm in the water playing with the dogs ... had them all coming in for a padflr and a swim etc ... all good for about 20 minutes. Then a car pulls up and out gets a man, woman and 2 kids .. sets up a table and chairs beside the bins of all places .. of course blue went up to them and the woman is giving it all big "shoo, shoo " etc so I ran up apologised and led blue away... back to the waters edge .. chasing the stick etc and the next thing she went running up the beach again and the woman and the man are throwing food to her ...so again I ran up took hold of her collar and said to.them .." if you give her food then of course she will keep coming " neither answered me just nodded and yabbered greek .. again back down to waters edge and now they're bleeding calling them the kids have joined in and they're throwing cooked chicken legs and bones etc.. so now it's not just blu but ela and jade too and of course when I try to get them to drop it they try to gulp it down faster .. so I then told them with voice raised " stop. Do not feed my dogs, especially chicken bones " I eventually get the dogs away after having to.shout and tell them off ... no sooner have I got them all back down the beach and the guy throws another bone down towards blu .. at this point I lost it . I stormed up the beach and shouted at him " arsehole ....3 times now I've told you to stop , I've taken the dogs away and you keep throwing food to them ... if you do it again I swear I'm going to knock you on your arse" I dragged blu away although it's not really her fault .. in the end I had to just pack up and take the dogs back to the van.. just as we left an old van turned up with no back door and about 20 kids in it .. they parked beside the first family and basically took over that entire stretch of beach .. I reckon they were gypsies...or just something from the hills have eyes with not a braincell between them . But Jees I've not the patience for arseholes like that. I was so tempted to upturn their table and let all their food land in the sand bit by the look of them they'd probably still have eaten it.


I stay away from most folk I just don't know how all the arse holes find me.

Travellers do strange things, I sold an Audi R8 to a traveller last week and I saw him again at the weekend and he's now towing a caravan behind it! told me he's heading off to Italy in it over the summer! Wish I had of got a photo, feckin edjit! Lol (didn't even know an R8 could take a tow bar!)

We really enjoyed Kafalonia (package holiday) then our niece suggested Skiathos. We went and I thought it wasn't a patch on Kefalonia and she said "Oh yes, Kefalonia is much, much nicer !"
