Anyway before I run out of data ( refreshes at midnight ) here's a few pics from the last day or two. This is my new parking spot till next week . The drone pics are the previous spot. This old merc is for sale but it looks a mess. Owner left it here ,he's back in Germany.

Yeah I've seen a good few clous up close over the years and they are good vans. As I've said before jongood clou is much favourite van on this forum , I loved it when he first posted it up and I think it's the nicest motor on here.

A lot of them were ugly buggers though so it's nice to see ones that are actually attractive.

This one is strange as although it's on a merc base that's iveco headlights. Indicators on it . But its a good looking van and the color suits it too.

Nice for hiding in the trees
Err Excuse me, it’s the second nicest van on here

Here’s the first 😜

Yep all Motorhomes should be green, white stands out like a sore thumb when trying to wild decretly.
Agreed .. this one I'm in was going to be changed this winter .. where I'm parked up.just now you see all.the colours of vans that blend in ... the greys etc blend in really well too.

Big white boxes though you can see miles away

Just needs that bike overpainted with a camel. (y)
Sod that lol .. I love the artwork. That's airbrushed too , not cheap .

That said I'd be fitting my scooter rack on the back so might raise a few laughs 🤣

2 vans to fit out Lenny, you are going to be busy 😇😎
Not this year, I was saying that to uncle lenny on the phone. If I buy it I will more than likely be updating it to lithium but not straight away , I'd use it as is for this year , make sure it was a definite keeper etc . Then upgrade electrics next year.

It would need a bigger power system than I have in this van .

I'd offer my current van for sale with the lithium etc I fitted in it.. hopefully that would entice buyers more as this one really is self sufficient.

Getting Better
Advert states 2 previous owners, mot history is not too bad, sporadic mileage and been standing at times, body work and internal is fixable as you’ve done with your present van, mechanicals is important and I think WESTY66 knows about metal things 😆😉
Having looked at it again through your needs it looks ok, just a tad worried about getting it level as in that first picture it’s on ramps but not level…🤔

I never use ramps ... but I always manage to get fairly level ..

Being a vario and it having the million mile engine in it and the ladder frame chassis its on a fantastic base. You don't get much better to be honest. Hopefully the coachbuilt side of it is as good as they're known for being. As you say things can be sorted . The current owner seems to have changed a lot of bits in it so hopefully nothing drastic required.

Will find out tomorrow.

Best 18K worth of Van I have seen thus far.
N&B Conversion, with raised rear roof section to facilitate the raised rear bed, and offer a very decent garage. Rear Air Sus, Telco brake Retarder, new roof air con, new Fridge, sink etc.....if its dry inside, and the bodywork/chassis is not too rusty then its the bargain of the year.
I would be excited too Tam, hope the viewings tomorrow go well, I am sort of confident they will though.(y)🤞

I'm wondering when it was imported.

The guy seems to think it's a 1992 , the mot history says 1997... which initially made me think it was imported in 1997.

But the mot history only goes back to 2018 and it failed then for having lhd headlights.. so I'm wondering if its actually a 1997 with a private plate on it from some point and possibly imported around 2017/18

I might be wrong of course but mot history normally goes back a lot further.

Also the headlights are from a mk2 iveco same as my current van is based on and I don't think they go back as far as 1992.

MOT History should still be correct, I recently taken the private plate off of my van if I do a check with the new number it shows the full MOT records.

Yeah I was more meaning that maybe just because it has a j plate that it isn't a 1992. I'm guessing that's what the seller is going on as the mot history states 1997. But on the phone he told me it was 1992. A j plate is a 1991/2 but it's strange for dvla to.have it on record as a 1997 .

And mot history only as far back as 2018
That would lead me to think that was it's first UK mot.

It's been a while since I registered an import but back when I did you had to send in the registration details from the country of import to prove the year. If you didn't back then they q plated them.

Not sure if it's different now. I just don't understand where dvla would have got 1997 from .

If it’s a J reg it means 91/92 year built so if it was imported in 1997 or later then that would explain the plate. I changed my 2019 plate to a personal one and was told I couldn’t have the original personal plate as it was a 2022 build plate and was told the plate has to be build year or older so now it’s based on a 2011 plate - love the remarks gosh it’s looks new🤣🤣

I think he changed the headlights to RHD ones, looks nice though particularly the paint work, oh the front settee doubles up as a bed and 493 views🥶🥶. I am surprised you haven’t grilled him on his new container home setup?
Loving the pics

Matey might think he’s on to a winner with all the views he’s getting so make sure you tell him it’s because 65,000 forum members is looking at it….😆
Yeah I think most of the watchers are probably folk on here too lol.

24 hours and it's had some traffic.

Its gonna make haggling difficult 🤣

I have some of that on mine, its come off in a couple of places in the cupboards and some of the roof panels have wrinkles. I think its that over the years the thin foam backing has deteriorated.

This model Clou is quite rare and like you Northernraider I thought they were all on Iveco Chassis. I suspect this one would be quite noisy. ASFAIK the wall joint failing is quite rare, I'm on several N+B/Clou/Clouliner FB sites and been in the N+B club for many years and only ever heard of one. Still worth a good look though. The windows can be expensive but there are options these days and it is very nice to have glass windows. The other thing I would have a good look at is the shower tray as some of the older ones can get cracked and a good look round the garage floor.

There are quite a few of the Coachbuilt Clou bodies that have been swapped onto more modern bodies because the running gear got tired before the body.

If you ask funflair he has a link to all the old N+B brochures, that might help you with dating and what it should and shouldnt have

edit. just found this from 1991
