MOBY GOES TO TURKEY. A tam and pups adventure.

I viewed a few of those Clous 8.2 metres the ones I looked at so very long, quality construction though throughout, insulation amazing.
Yeah jongood clou is my favourite van on this forum and it's a clou .. I'd take it over any morelo anyday.

It's gorgeous

Tam you know what happens;

You start window shopping and that’s the slippery slope 😂
I'm always window shopping lol. Everytime that rmb has been advertised since last year it's been on my watch list . I have 5 vans on my watch list on ebay right now. .. I always have . But usually go way above what I'm willing to pay.

If like today it sits at a price that's tempting that's the danger lol.

Yeah but I'm not in the country 😕.

I left 2 weeks after mum's funeral.

Not so easy for me to switch vans nowadays .

If and I mean IF I change vans again I want that to be it ...the last one , for a long time.

I'm mostly happy with this van , but I do feel at times it's trying to tell me something lol as the list of jobs to do gets longer week in week out.

I try to content myself but like everyone else with a motorhome it's no easy.

I mean folk with a lot newer vans change them too lol.

This was another one that caught my eye

Again it needs jobs done on it but that's the market I prefer . I don't like to buy someone else's masterpiece

Again mercedes vario based and an old but well built brand

Now that's a nice one

Well after contacting malcolm with just 10 minutes to go asking if collection August would be OK I left it just too late for bidding and it went on ebay for just over £19k which was a great price for that van .. I put in just over £20k but left it too late and didn't make it In time.

Maybe it was fate ...who knows

But I was interested in that van last year but it was a week before mum died and not the right time to be doing it.

Ah well you win some you lose some as they say
Phew!!!!

To be honest I only really use mine when getting diesel etc. Otherwise I'm out the hab door with the dogs

I looked at a Burstner Aviano 13 years ago, my late wife was using a wheelchair.... only one door and on the traffic side in the UK......... downright dangerous even for the able bodied...............just nuts only being able to exit one side

Yeah this mobilvetta I have only has one front door too. But it's a left hooker

Quite a few of the big ones don't have cab doors. Don't see them on morelos either
I particularly looked for one without a cab door, we had one on our Hymer what a pain it was, leaked terribly.

So that gives us 5 acrylic windows and 2 roof hatches as escape routes. I am sure that in an emergency my foot would beat an acrylic window, even if I had no time to open the catches.
OK for the fittest which is not typical of many elderly or disabled motorhomers....

I don't know why such vehicles are even allowed........that's it from me too much thread drift (y)

Cab area is much nicer without doors, warmer, quieter, better storage and more secure. Minor inconvenience having to go through to get out. On the outside the styling is also cleaner. As the height of the Motorhome goes up its also quite difficult to get usable doors.

Ps I do think the doors suit the old mobilvettas (the first A class we seriously considered buying btw)

It has to be said that due to the very sloped roof and the narrow gap between the seats on the mobilvetta makes getting from the cab in to the back quite a challenge. The overcab bed is low , the seats are close together and you have a gearstick and a handbrake between them to try and get your legs around , and unlike the frankia and hymer I had where you could spin the front seat round while sat in it I can't do it on this van as there isn't the room , the seat needs slid forward before it can be turned and I'd be squashed against the steering wheel.

This is the space I've to get my 6 foot 3 fat asked frame through

I manage...but it is one of the things I find annoying with this van ... and also the bed height because of the very sloped roof.

That's why it looks so streamlined ....but it is very compact in the cab area and bed area . I am glad of the cab door for that reason as I'd hate to have to climb through just to get fuel or nip in to a shop. But once parked up I'm not in the cab , I don't bother swivelling the front seats .

The euramobil cab was huge but wasted as the layout didn't allow you to use the front seats as part of the hab area .

The frankia and hymer were the best fir that.

Truth be told I would much prefer to have a fixed rear bed and no drop down .. I liked the layout in malcolms rmb and that clou liner with just cupboards round the cab.. and the cab area is definitely a lot more spacious

You know my Moby is a Ducato, 2 cab doors, no gear lever or handbrake in the way and has the fixed double and drop down beds. (y)

I too use the hab door most of the time when parked.

Yours does have a door both sides which is safer and more convenient than the vans you looked at on ebay

The shame of it. Hangs head.
Our last van was an Aviano and I never even noticed it didn't have a cab door when we bought it.

We now have a Pilote Explorateur. That doesn't have any cab doors.
Last week on a CCP site in France, we were followed in by another P. E. Diamond edition. It was the same year. It was the same model, (G742), EXCEPT?
It had cab doors and different sized garage doors.

The driver said, "don't you find it dangerous getting out in England on the traffic side"

In yer actual French, I responded. "It's no problem. I send the wife out first."

Yes yours is the same as my first mobilvetta

Tam, a few days ago in a pic of your cab I noticed the gear stick in the middle of the walk-through and thought that must be a PITA.

We are lucky in that our gear stick is dash mounted and our handbrake is mounted outboard of the driver's seat, so our walk-through is clear and easy to navigate.

I suppose this shows the advantage that an A Class manufacturer has in the ability to modify the cab layout over the coachbuilt where the manufacturer has to work with whatever the base vehicle dishes up.

Just another plus point for A Class.

I'm assuming yours is fiat based and front wheel drive which is why the handbrake and gearstick are where they are. All my fiat based ones were the same coachbuilt and a class.

The current van is also an a class but it's rear wheel drive hence the gearstick location

Yes our gearstick is also on the floor, RWD Iveco

Lovely day today , took dogs for a play on the beach this morning then spent the afternoon doing a few wee jobs on the camper. See if you can spot them .
