MOBY GOES TO TURKEY. A tam and pups adventure.

Weather app says 19° today but its boiling. I'm gonna have to break out the shorts. Locals are going around with jumpers with jackets on top some even with hoods up and scarves, a woman just passed in a fur coat fir feck sake

Whits wrong with these people lol
It's winter and to them it's cold.
I remember an African guy I met he used to act as a tourist guide, sitting in the sailing club bar in July us in tee shirts him shirt and two jumpers and he was shivering. He said I don't understand the English they are on the beach at 8:30am in swimming costumes and it's only 80°F, I don't take my overcoat off until it is 110°F.

Did you not bring a kilt?

It's not the locals it's the tourists.
The old locals here get sewn into the thermal underwear in November and are cut out of them in April.
When it's 40° for days on end over summer 20° seems cool. It was actually colder than the UK the other night.

I worked with a colleague who came from a very hot country. He said that, after a few years in England, he found the heat very unpleasant when he went back. Maybe, in few months, you will be wearing a coat too😂

Same here in Benidorm. Me and my friend Shirley Blossom who are newbies to this snowbird thing are walking around in our summer clothes and the Spanish are wrapped up in boots, coats and scarves! To be fair it's chilly out of the sun.

Then we had a chill out in the van and another walk along the beach then had lunch and went to the supermarket. . First one I've been to since arriving in Turkey... not super cheap but a lot cheaper than UK, Greece etc for sure ..and the added bonus they let the strays sleep in the store ...there were 2 sleeping beside the checkouts and one just as you went in the entrance.

A few examples of prices, loaf of fresh bread 45p. 15 large eggs £1.20 , 6 bananas 55p , 1l coke 65p , 1.2kg Apples 85p, 2L tub chocolate ice cream 78p .

Anyway after the supermarket I drove along the coast road about 5km from bodrum to a quiet wee beach to stay for tonight

Loving this part of your journey, Tam. Trip down memory lane for us. We spent three years cruising Turkey from Bozcaada Island to Alanya. Two winters just west of Antalya at Park Kemer Marina and one winter in Marmaris Yacht Marina. Anchored many times at and near Bodrum. IMHO, Turkey offers the best cruising in the Med and tremendous sightseeing opportunities everywhere. Enjoy the ride!

I have been reading your blog for 10 days now and have finally caught up! Blu is a cutie as are your other dogs. I felt for you when you had your motorhome problems. I'm sorry that you felt sad at Christmas, but you seem to be in a better frame of mind since Blu came into your life. I have laughed at some of the comments, so much. Looking forward to your next adventure now you're in Turkey.

Hi Tam, for some reason & I’ve tried re-setting Un-Watch & Watch but I seem to not to be able to follow your thread, has there been a problem with thread?

And in a parallel universe (here in Somerset) it reached a balmy 13 degrees this weekend and there were families on the beach in their skimpies like it was July.
And just a few miles away across the Seven estuary in south Wales it was foggy and dank and persistent drizzle all weekend. Oh it was around 8’C.
It was just dandy for walking the dog 🐕 🙄, even he objected 🤭

Glad it's not just me. I can't get the usual unwatch/watch either. All I can get is watch and not receive emails. This has a ticked box which I can't untick! I want to get emails please.😪
I don't want push button notifications though.
I've gone in to settings and all seems ok there. Nothing changed.

StephandJohn there is a watch/unwatch at the top of each page, hope that helps.
And it is back to you Northernraider
My first ever proper foreign holiday was to Turkey, absolutely loved it, followed to locals when looking for eateries, and John's bartering skills had to be seen to be believed.

"We're moving away from email notifications because too many people drop the email into their junk folder rather than the bin. What they don't realise is that this ruins our reputation with the big email providers like, google & microsoft. They see the mail placed into junk and think we are spamming and then won't accept our mail. Thats a disaster for us because, people can't join as they don't get the confirmation emails or any other admin emails."

Sorry to be a pain, when I click on the watch it comes up: Show without receiving emails, with a little box that’s ticked, but it will not let me untick it. Any Ideas?

Did you follow the first link I posted above?
Other than that, I've no idea.
