Mobility scooters

Mine hasn't be stolen.
As for don't use in the wet......better not use your van or car in the wet, it has a battery as well.
My scooter batteries, like all scooters, are under a plastic body panel and all the drive components are fully sealed.
Apart from that, were only talking 12v.
No pappajohn they are mainly 24volt systems some even 36v or 48v. ALL the scooters we have ever serviced have never had "sealed" throttle controls, wigwam pots, switches of any kind or the rear brake micro switch and corrode giving all sorts of faults. Even had them come in and when the main controller was removed had a cupful of water drain out - it was a poor design as fitted with leads at top which allowed the rain from the wheel splashes to fill it!! Yes they are all "under cover" but you know water will find it's own route and sometimes you wonder how on earth did that find it's way there.

Definitely a barbecue there then ! Sounds more like an electric chair ;):ROFLMAO:

Yes I have one it’s a Atto sport. Quite expensive but if you search
ATTO disability scooter on YouTube your see just how good they are.

they Have a fair ground clearance compared to a lot of others. Easy to use. Charge. Fold. Carry. And Store.
I use mine a lot both in a caravan when we had one and the car. And soon to be the Moho.

they make the atto sport max for larger people.

Hi, we have the same Otto sport, great for when we are away in our m/home. It folds down and is very compact, the wife loved it

Hiya just wondered if anyone has any experience or advice on preferably folding lightweight mobility scooters any views on the subject I would like to hear . My wife is mobile but cannot walk a great distance 2 or 3 hundred yards and we have to stop. She does have a blue badge but as you know most car parks have height barriers or the bays are not big enough to be able to take the vehicle with us, thank

Why?
You must have a reason.
Water and 230vac don't mix ....12vdc/24vdc/48vdc and water is not a problem.
Tuesday night I charged the battery on my lawn tractor....charger in the garage, tractor outside...no room in garage.
It rained on and off all evening and possibly during the night.
Yesterday the battery and charger leads were wet through.
The battery was charged and the tractor not burnt to a crisp.

Well I can definitely assure you that even at 24,36 or 48 volts water will still cause "burn outs" on circuit boards or when water gets into the switches, even our damp air has corroded quite a few we've had in. Fill your scooter controller with water and then tell me it's not a problem - only joking not recommended at all  :giggle:

Getting to the root of the problem, I have MS, sometimes I can walk sometimes I can't. I want to use my MH to visit castles, stately homes, cathedrals etc while I can. After getting 2 parking tickets for rear platform overhanging parking space by 4" when all disabled spaces were full, I wrote to the minister of transport asking why Park and ride have height barriers so we can't use them and why are traffic wardens are penalizing disabled drivers having to carry various mobility aids just to lead some form of normality. Answer. Every council is different. (So basically "bugger off and don't ask awkward questions") I am more than willing to pay extra for "Large vehicle bays" I got the tickets quashed.

A lot of the on road disabled bays that are marked are much to short for our motorhome and often the criteria states the vehicle has to be within the marked bay , the same applies if there are disabled bays on a car park without height restrictions the bays are to short so again we are stymied. Council’s don’t seem to cater for leisure vehicles and disability. I try to get some clarification from the council parking area we are travelling to prior to our visit. Congrats on your ticket appeal well done.(y);)

I never said it won't cause damage, it won't turn into a wheeled BBQ though.
Looking at mine the only bit which will let water in is the variably speed pot.....and that may be sealed inside the 'dash' panel.

pappajohn it wasn't me that suggested "turn into a wheeled BBQ"!! I've never found anything "sealed" on all the ones we have seen/serviced - some use a very poor sealant almost glue like substance but we've found even that gets penetrated by water!! We have had a few with scorch marks on - connections to the motors (spade connections) are another scorch/fire hazard though

Well finally it’s arrived decided on the Atto sport, it didn’t arrive until Monday just gone so just getting used to the folding and unfolding mechanism. Christine will set off in earnest next Saturday when arrive at Scarborough for ten days . So if you spot us give us a wave although it might be just a blur as she flies by . Thanks everyone for your idea’s and suggestions along the way we are very grateful.

Hi Plumb Well done as it is a minefield out there with so many to choose from. I'm sure Christine will thoughly enjoy and as you say be zooming around everywhere.
Good luck and best wishes.

Thanks everyone for your input thus far.(y)
What I have discovered so far is:
The lightweight Folders have small wheels and limited 2.5" ground clearance in the main, so not much good on gravel or Funster Rally Fields.
The larger wheel models are not folders, and weigh a tonne, some of them are 10Kgs.o_Oeg : The Easy Rider :giggle:;) which TinaL wont drive as she has no biker jacket or Hells Angel Tatts:giggle:

Dilemma: Trying to find a folder, or one that comes apart with larger wheels that will cope with semi off road and soft grass is the problem.
I will keep looking though.
PS: Happy Travels Plumb, Christine, If you reach the bar before we do, mines a pint.(y)

Guaranteed to beat you to the bar Les it’s like a stampede ! We’ll get you one in Christine will have downed three by then ! Just joking (y);)

Theirs a good ground clearance on the Atto and 4” wheels, but not sure how well it will perform on grass with soft going or gravel (y)

My electric folding Kymco small wheeled scoot is fine on grass but gravel stops it dead. Suspect none will be good on that.

Yes I'm sure your right , on gravel it would I think need very wide tyres to stop that sinking feeling

At the moment not having much luck with the Atto has some kind of fault ! Whilst away in Scarborough Christine managed to use twice during the ten days and Christine is very pleased with the scooter . But whilst travelling forward it comes to an abrupt halt and randomly selects reverse and a backward motion very alarming . Also it dies altogether and the display darkens and goes blank, the only way to start up again is to press the on/off button on the facia the scooter bursts into life with a lunge forward it's very disconcerting . So we decided not to use we think it could be dangerous to us or someone else if either were to happen whilst crossing a carriageway .
Currently in dispute with retailer.

I hope you get it sorted. That’s very disappointing for you both as they’re not cheap! I hope you both still managed to enjoy your time away.
