Theres pros and cons to gloves unfortunatelygloves come in handy
Ha this is the old Dyson we keep in the shed for dirty work and for doing the car etc..Well even to my untrained eye, that looks tidier. Does mum know you've pinched her hoover!?!? Hands do look sore, but you know what they say"no pain, no gain"
Shes actually been a lot better about it being done here at the minute. Can't find a place ...ive now been to about 25 farms and various industrial estates etc and nothing ...i can get somewhere further afield but that would cause probs for the dogs , work , mum needing help etc so its a catch 22 situation. Thankfully most of the really noisy stuff was done elsewhere ... theres still noise obviously but i keep it minimal and between 12pm and 4pm usually so not that bad ....live on a main road so theres a fair bit of noise going on around anyway.Glad you are making progress Tam but I think you need to dedicate as much time as it takes to find a workshop or yard to use. Mum will be getting very stressed having you out there, even though you don't think it's a problem, you should respect your Mum's views - it is her home and her neighbours.
I hope my five penneth doesn't annoy you too much but feit it beeded saying.
Ill be painting it ....metal will be raptored but will have a wooden deck to match the roofrack ...because the chassis ends 1.5 metres from the rear i had to have a think how i was going to support it at the very back ...but think ive got it now. Just need to find a decent blacksmith now to weld all that in ...my welding plant won't do that heavy gauge of steel and because it is kind of structural id rather get someone to do that bit for me so i know im not gonna leave a motorbike on the road somewhereWhat your new plans for bike carrier? Will you be painting it or splash a bit of cash getting it galvanised?
Yes that was my thoughts ..but id have had to move it from where it was anywayKeep that rear heater mate. Will be a good thing to heat the living area wile driving.
And for your

Thought you were a big Rufty Tufty Scotsman Nowt' but a bloody scratch to us proper ard Yorkshire Northerners.Well it being Sunday i didnt want to make to much noise but lifted the rest of the floor , removed the passenger buddy seat , removed all the pipe work for the rear heater ( might refit that later not sure yet) and gave it a hoover out inside as lots of debris caught in all the channels etc. Think i now have a plan how im going to build the support frame for the bike carrier and i think ive changed my layout also ( more on that later) tomorrow more grinding and cleaning up metal ... borrowing a 9 inch grinder from a mate on Tuesday to cut out those lengths of iron the coschbuilders put in for the seats to bolt to as they are rusty and holed in places and not part of the original van so ill just remove them now.
The front half of the van is much better than the rear and needs very little in the way of cleaning up before i can prime and paint the floor suports etc ... progress is progress however slow.

Hmm, one has to wonder about your knees and back "killing you" but I think we should leave that discussion right here for fear of someone putting a sexual slant on it.I am but ive cuts and gouges out every finger now bloody knees and backs killing me tae lol
Yeah the sills are only cosmetic but it will look better if they get replaced. The bike platform will be at the same height the rear lights are at now so should be plenty of clearance. The bars supporting the frame will come out either side of where the number plate is at the minute.looking at the picture tam do you even need sills on the last section of the van ?could the rear section be raised for clearance your frame for the rear would take the supporting role
Old age and arthritis starting lol...have never been able to kneel for any length of time ...but worse now ...and back sore with pulling these floor boards up ...me body is aching lolHmm, one has to wonder about your knees and back "killing you" but I think we should leave that discussion right here for fear of someone putting a sexual slant on it.

you can buy a real house for that much moneyI guess at that price they don't want to sell it.
Do you have your own welding plant? Cause if you do i could have a job for you. . wouldn't be able to make it up elsewhere i dont think ...it needs to be built actually on to the van in section'sWell I'm a bit far away but if you need the frame made up give me a shout. Sure I could get it down to you some time. I'm down to Edinburgh a lot.
Ah right, I thought it could be made in workshop and then joined on to the chassis by your guy on site.Do you have your own welding plant? Cause if you do i could have a job for you. . wouldn't be able to make it up elsewhere i dont think ...it needs to be built actually on to the van in section's
I currently don't have a guy on site lol...just me ...struggling to find a blacksmith or welder ...ive spoke to a few most dont want the work they seem to like easy stuffAh right, I thought it could be made in workshop and then joined on to the chassis by your guy on site.
See I'd easy help but I haven't worked on autos. I'm used to structural stuff so thick steel at high-ish power. I can't see why a local welder wouldn't want to take it on though. It's still drivable aint it? You could easy get it in to their workshop which would make it a lot easier for anyone.I currently don't have a guy on site lol...just me ...struggling to find a blacksmith or welder ...ive spoke to a few most dont want the work they seem to like easy stuff
