Mercedes vario 814 self build bus to FLT palace

I will take the Renault A110 off the top tier of that trailer, its worth the cost of the MH towing it, and it should make him legal to tow that piece of Nissan crap under it.:giggle:
How does your mum feel about parking her car in the street?, or doesn't she know yet? Guess she will find out in the morning eh?:giggle:
Good van for the money, safe journey home.

that is a classic Renault Alpine ( A110 ) ( 70's Reg plate ) and a Ford CA as far as i can tell

Love the Renault A110's my swiss mates (brothers) have one a piece, and they also have a pair of 610's which are OK, but I like driving the A110's, Twin Weber carbs flood if you push it too hard below 3000 revs. Its keeping above 3000 revs on twisty roads that is the difficult part, they also sound great going through the tunnels:giggle::cool: My favourite is the yellow one, which I nick named "The Shit Hot Banana" many years back, the other is a nice metallic Blue.

Perhaps you can explain why one needs to pass another test to drive a manual if one only has a automatic licence but not the other way round?
To me it suggests a greater degree of skill, ability is required to drive the manual. It would also appear the DVSA agree.
A monkey could put a stick in 5 or 6 different positions,,what skill is required with a modern syncromesh gear box.Skill was required years ago with full crash box's and gear box's like fuller twin splits where you changed without using your clutch,,just listened and judged the revs..BUSBY

Looks good for the money, will you be selling the caravan now. Can’t be much room on your mums drive.
I don't think id get the best price for the Caravan at this time of year so ill hang on to it till i come back and advertise it at the start of the season ..

No room on the drive so this van will be parked on the street for now.
He's got another bargain, jammy bugger & now he's going to double his money on the caravan.
Here's hoping ...come springtime.
I reckon that's way over the vans towing limit.
I thought so too ... looks like a 3.5t motorhome and i reckon he must have 2t on that trailer
Looks good for that price.

Has it just got a single door or a slider as well, it’s a few grand just to get a single door like that fitted on a panel van if you went to the likes of IH.
Just the single door which seems a good quality one too its got the 6 point locks on it
Don’t get to like it too much! I fear you might sideline the project move it on and jobs a good one😳😁
No ill still be building the merc this ones just a stop gap ....

Can't fit it in the drive so it will be on the street ...

Can’t help but think the paintwork of the new van looks euro/Scottish colours…😆
I thought it looked more like an older hobby than an eldiss thats for sure ...it probably looked quite good when it was first done.

Ill just be painting the bottom half to tidy it up a bit ....paintjobs too expensive and time consuming. Doesn't have to be a looker

Aye, and can you imagine the automatic box lovers trying to drive one😂😂😂😂.

Ok so im at truckhaven in cumbria ... wanted to get a bit of miles done before giving my verdict.
Seems to drive ok ...very quiet plenty of power sits at 70 quite happily. Very comfortable to drive but i cant see through this crap sunstrip so thats getting removed ....it needs work of course which is to be expected at this price but im happy with it so far ....its got a few quids worth of equipment in it so if it all works that will be dandy ...ill post interior pics when im home as the spare wheel a huge step and electrical cables are all lying on the floor ...but heres the outside and the dodgy paintView attachment 539982View attachment 539983

Oh and i passed this and had to take a photo .... not happy with one toad but 2 ....whats the towing weight on that lol

I think all the blue might be going for now ...the window frames will go black and the blue will be flattened and primed, the plastics sanded and plastic primed. That will do for the minute. And those eldiss stickers removed lol. Wheels need a coat of paint too. But ill have to make sure the batteries are charging etc and that the appliances all work.. ...might need a refillable gas bottle too as it only has a 6kg calor in it.

When are you thinking of setting off for warmer climes.
End of October ... probably come back end of January or February if i spend a month outwith shengen. I want to get the other side of the vario done too so ive got about 4 or 5 weeks to work hard getting the vario to a decent standard for leaving over winter and to do the jobs on this one to make sure its ok for travel.

Mostly by elderly people who changed to an auto because they were struggling with a manual.
I don't think its such a problem with people who have always driven autos or people like me who have always hopped between manual & auto.

Maybe not, live and let live, I have a good friend who is dyslectic, so I am not a fan of the grammar police, life is difficult enough for people suffering with that, just wish people where a bit more respectful and thoughtful, being friendly and understanding isn’t costing you anything, it’s free and makes people ‘s life a lot more joyful !

Not sure about that Lenny,,My mother who drove autos for years wrote her car off plus the car she hit in a supermarket car park,,and same with my brother in law who when under a bit of pressure reversing out of his drive hit the gas pedal instead of the stop one demolished his front wall. The policeman I spoke too after her adventure told me auto and elderly were bad news.BUSBY.
