So in other news thats one side of the bus welded up , sealed and primed ....srill lots of little imperfections where the welds are that will need work before the final paint but it looks good i think . I should get back on it at the weekend as im off to pick up the other van tomorrow then ive mums car to check over for its mot ....handbrake needs sorting as its not holding.

is that grey primer on the panels tam if it is do you realise its not waterproof?
It is but its also under a big tarp at the minute ...the panels are sealed so i meant watertight as in not letting water in to the van 👍 i know the primer is porous. Ill be putting some gloss over it later

I did wonder that but ive spoke to the guy on the phone and it sounds not bad ...well what i could decipher from the strong Yorkshire accent lol. Hes had it 8 years and now bought a motorhome. Its not failed an mot since 2010 which is good ..he says everything works in it and only issue is the diesel runs back to the tank on it at times but once started alls good ...i was for once willing to offer the full asking price but he surprisingly said " oh ill take a bit less " so we've agreed on £3k ....i can get a train tomorrow to halifax for £66 so just need to get a quote for insurance now .
It even has a Two Dogs sign in the front window so appropriate for you and your two.

Early start this morning ...just had breakfast now its out with the dogs in the dark as my train is just after 8am ....only got a 5 minute transfer time at Haymarket so i home the first train is on time ....i bloody hate rail travel its so stressful

Hope it turns out well

Once you’re on the train I think it’s relaxing travel.

We are looking forward to another Greece thread, please go early this year, with a bit of turkey too 😇

I rode lands end to John o groats pre covid. The train journeys were by far the most stressful days!

Hope you come back with a successful purchase. If you were coming a little way further north I'd buy you lunch! (Bradford)

Cheers James

Not a great start the first train is already running 3 minutes late and not even crossed the forth bridge yet .... Oh Please!

If he doesn't make that up im not going to make the second train.

Public transport failure

The problem for us motorhome users who are used to going at our pace to our time scale when we want is that you have to put control in other people's hands on public transport travel.

I for one hate that.

Have a Safe journey and a successful day 👍

I though the van was near Leeds, how come you are going via Preston, is it cheaper?

I dunno its just the route that came up on trainline ...this train goes to london but i change at preston , then on to halifax

Van is in a town called liversedge

Oh dear, I've only been on the transpennine crossing from Preston to Halifax once, never again.
In hindsight, the Waverly to Leeds (London train) would have been a lot quicker. I did a lot of train travel when I was doing contract work a few years ago quite enjoyed it.

Only place I found trains stressful was India, they take it to another level.:giggle:

I just entered Dunfermline to Halifax on my trainline app and this one came up as fastest and cheapest ....4 hours 50 minute's the next one was 5 hours 10 minutes and 30 quid dearer.

Can fly to gran canaria quicker. ..

Its the changeover times i get stressed at as on the few occasions ive used the train i seem to have no luck with them ..

I went to buy a van in essex once and i flew down got picked up at airport by seller ...the van ( a transit duetto) was sn absolute shed so i didnt buy it ...i was therfore stuck in Walton on the naze on a Saturday with no way home ....i had to get 3 trains to get back to Stansted 2 of which broke down so i missed the last flight home that night and had to sleep in a doorway in the airport.

That little escapade cost me nearly 500 quid in the end so i now panick with trains as from what i see of people who use them all the time its a hit or a miss if they are on time or not

Its the only time i use them to be honest is when im buying vehicles as nothing is ever local lol
