Mercedes vario 814 self build bus to FLT palace

It might be an idea to evict the baby elephant as it'll certainly help with your payload. :giggle:

Spotted this down the park this morning ....mobile car repairs ...he was spraying the front wing in there. The tent all packs up and goes up on the roof ..i need one of these lol but twice the size.

Been dry today so i cracked on with the rest of the sills ...all welded up now just to fill and paint and seam seal. The wheel arch needs a bit more work on this side

How about a military tent Tam? I'm guessing you would t have the width of drive for one?

Yacht renovators often build a 20ft high tent over the yachts.

Blooming friday the 13 th

What a day ive had

Dropped the car off at the garage this morning to have a new clutch fitted as its been biting right near the top since i bought it ...id already bought the clutch myself to have the job done £60 for a borg n beck and the garage said £150 to fit it ...jobs a goodun so i thought.

Working tonight ( supposed to be ) so i walked up with the dogs at 3pm to pick up the car ( 2.5 hour job allegedly) and it was still on the ramp ...no wheels and gearbox on bench 🤦‍♂️

Its apparently a nightmare to do and whole front subframe had to be removed to take box out ...so had to phone boss tell him i might be a bit late . Borrowed car from garage took dogs back to mum and returned to the garage to wait ....5.15 the cars off the ramp and they give it back ...but clutch pedal is on the floor and can't get it in first gear .... mechanic says cable is stretched and adjuster is siezed and to be honest there was loads of life left on the old clutch 🤦‍♂️ so the car is undriveable ...ive had to phone work and tell them i cant come in ...thats £75 - 90 lost AND ive got to hope we can get a cable and fit it tomorrow ( more expense ) or im going to loose another nights work tomorrow .

So in the end this bloody clutch will have cost me nearly what i paid for the blooming car ...and likely only needed a new cable in the first place.

Hopefully other people have had a better day ....im off to shoot myself

Not a good day mate, but with your luck today your gun will jam...
😉😉

The really annoying part is the car was going fine i just didnt want to take the chance of it failing and ne having to let work down ...so thinking ahead i thought id prevent any issues.

Who says the old method of if it ain't broke dont fix it doesn't make sense.

Phoned up the garage this morning to get an update.... can't get a clutch cable anywhere local for this car ...online 3 day postage ..im meant to be working again tonight and on monday 🤦‍♂️

So after doggy walk im off to the scrapyard in search of a cable.

Bloody vehicles im sick of them

At a particularly awkward bit on the merc right now too and battling with weather .

Greece is calling !!!!?

....im off to shoot myself
Take a break in Plymouth and kill two birds with one stone!

With your car flipping skills/fortune could you not pick up a cheapie locally for a few days and get your money back/make a profit? I know there's insurance etc to sort but might work out.

Sorry to here it, I know your pain- I've had my fair share of crap cars!!!

Would a gazebo not help?

Well i had some success at the scrap yard ...managed to ( eventually) get a cable out of a 2014 car ...its a pure #@£& to get out unless your a 3ft tall skinny japanese contortionist...but i got there eventually .....8 skint knuckles 2 scratched elbows ...inner elbows and a few cuts ....cable cost me £4 .

Not so easy to refit on my car that didn't have lots of bits missing ...so more scratches , swearing and head banging ...at one point i did actually get my arm stuck down the back of the engine and couldn't get it back out ...but got it fitted in the end. Still don't have what id call a great clutch pedal it feels very light and flappy but its going in and out of gears ok with no crunching so its the best i can get at the minute...maybe its meant to be that way or maybe that cable is stretched too i dont know . But its adjusted nearly all the way to the end which seems strange for a new clutch.

But at least its driving so i can use it for work tonight .

One wheel tub all seam sealed , primed, painted and then stone chipped over the top ... unfortunately the stone chip seems to have reacted to the hammerite ...gone a little eggshell but hopefully doesnt peel off .

Then it was on to the other rear wheel arch which was in a pretty bad state so had to cut most of it out and remake it ...thought id taken pics of it being welded up but i either didn't or my phone has lost them ...but all welded filled and primed now ...wheeltub is next then that side will be finished too.

Primer probably hadn’t cured, it’s a common occurrence when rushing….🤔

Tam put another coat of stone chip on later to make sure it's all sealed. You dont want water seeping under it after all your hard work.
Yeah ill leave it a few days and if its set ill give it a light rub over and respray

Northernraider Tam i believe stone chip paint is solvent based so that may be why its causing the ripples. hopefully it will harden off without the hammerite loosing any adhesion to the primer.
