Mercedes vario 814 self build bus to FLT palace

If you can live with the caravan its a no brainier, especially as it’s an easy handover. Who knows how many caravans will be coming on the market next spring and £800 is a small loss if any loss. You know yourself you could get the money back off it with a bit of tlc if not a profit.

Tam won't "lose" £800 when he sells it on later, he'll get something back.
If it's only worth scrapping in a few months time... would the chassis make a good base for building a trailer?

The spongey floor isn't a problem really it just the construction with an 'egg box' core that has collapsed. You would be hard pushed to find a 'van more than a few years old without this issue. The standard repair for it is to drill a series of holes from underneath scrape out the cardboard inject with an epoxy filler and plug the holes, not worth the effort for something of that value and it will outlive your needs by years as it is.

Tam, I had a caravan similar to that for digs whilst working away from home.
I removed the cabinet at the front window and was able to make a double transverse bed and still have seating for two meaning my bed was made up all the time. Just my thoughts...
Keep up the good work

That's an idea 👍
Next thing you'll be a tugger😳
🍻
Been there done that ...doubt id ever go back ...its too much hard work lol.

If I could have found a caravan here in that condition & like that I wold have had it for the interior when converting the van last year. Only trouble is here ,that van probably has a value of at least 5 or 6 k euros, if notmore.
There you go Tam, finish the vario then tow the caravan to spain and sell it for a 4k profit.

Seems to do the job considering its absolutely throwing it down.

But for now thats the n/s rear wheel arch welded in .....

This hole here for the forced air vents has been the prime cause of the rear end rusting out in this van ...rain leaks in and it has ran down inside the overhead bag storage that was in the bus and down the back panels. This one will be welded up ..the one on the other side will be used for my chimney .

This was just 10 minutes of rain before i had to put a bucket under it

Another day another panel ...or 2

Inner and outer sill on the o/s
Still a few bits to finish off on this but ran out of time before work . Rains been hammering down but my wee shanty canopy keeps it off me

Aye she isn't keen but is also aware i tried to get the work done elsewhere and couldn't ...so left with no choice but to do it myself

Dogs are doing fine ...being spoiled by mum. Their diet is gone to pot

Im constantly amazed at how many people do that in adverts.

That said quite a funny story but while i was taking jeff and his wife on the test drive we were chatting and he was having a look around and he opened the glove box of toby and kind of gasped " theres money in there " ... I thought he meant my wee bag of left over euro cents etc but it was actually £2k in notes that i thought i had put in my safe lol but obviously id stuck it in the glove box instead 🤣🤣 . I get paid in cash and hadn't banked it yet ...god knows what they thought lol .

I did explain that it was meant to be in the safe but told him ill not be telling him where the safe is till the day they are collecting the van.

Ive seen adds on ebay where theyve described every security feature on their van in the add. Its mental
