Hello all

I had an advertising flyer via facebook from Marjal saying that the weekend of
10-12th March 2012 is going to be a country and western themed weekend. It is a ticket affair (chargeable) and pre bookable only. I will try and put flyer on here. Is it something that we are interested in as a group.

you will all love it here. The facilities are second to none. The prices in the bar and restaurant are comparable to local prices and the supermarket is improving daily.
A 20 minute cycle ride to Catral and there are eateries and supermarkets with a market every Saturday and in the next village about the same time distant from the site is a really good Spanish tapas bar with very cheap and tasty food and drink. Harry's bar is around the corner from there with portions that will spread any waistline with good Spanish food.
Don't forget to bring a length of coax cable with a push female connector at one end and a male push connector for your tv at the other end to pick up the four uk channels and two Irish channels, plus loads of French and Spanish channels. A wifi extender is useful as the crowded wifi sectors get overloaded and it helps to point to one of the more remote ones. Lastly, a length of waste pipe about 7 to 10 metres (depending where you park on the pitch) is useful for getting rid of the waste water. For those who cannot be bothered there is a motorhome service point before the entrance near the famous Marjal sign.
I nearly forgot, Elche which is a short drive away was one of the largest centres for the production of shoes and the town has a lot to see with shopping arcades and outlets.
Hope the above helps. If you need any specific information I will try to get it.

Hello Johnh

Thanks for the info, quick question for you.

Are there cycle paths to village etc , or do you have to dice with death ?

Thanks

Anne

Not busy or difficult on the Marjal service road which leads to the Catral exit off the motorway. The bridge over seems to get steeper each time I cycle over it but I have not got off to walk yet. If you cross over the bridge by the Marjal sign and cycle to Catral you are on the Catral to Crevillent road and that is dicing with death. No problems in Catral itself, St. Felipe is easy to get to and there is a road/path leads to the El Hondo nature reserve. Very peaceful and lots of waders etc. on the lakes. Good cycle path from Catral to Dolores but beyond that it is dangerous.

FYI Withing this year Crevillente's town council is supposed to develop many proper cycling routes in the campsite's surroundings together with other nearby towns.

Concerning the Country Music Festival you will be forced to enjoy http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150154186225498.337263.43323800497&type=3 here you can see some pictures of last year's edition. It gets bigger every year. So get ready for some serious line dancing! Yihaaa!

It is either that or JJ's "slap some paint on a left over piece of plywood and sit and watch it dry...."

Hi Ann
We have a cycle group that departs the reception area every Wednesday at 10.30 and using the Camino roads where ever possible cycle to quite a few local towns for a coffee and back.
The area is covered with loads of these Camino roads but unfortunately I have yet to find a map that shows any of them.
We go to Callosa, Cox, Granja, Sant Isdre, Catrall, Dolores, Almoradi, Rafal, El Relengo, Albatera and a complete loop around La Hondo national Park.

Would you care to reccomend a specific piece of kit:BigGrin:I assume you are saying we can't get wi-fi on the pitches ?

Mike

When you think about it, 1500 pitches so any internet connection could be slowed down by a factor of 1500 ( worst case ).

So get one or two who want to run iPlayer and it will all go pear shaped very quickly.

So can we be positive? Just tell us what we need.

Ivy

Is it the case that if we take our laptops over to the lounge area we will get a decent connection?

Ivy
