Rally Chat Lymington Seafood Festival, Golf, Beaulieu Motor Museum, Isle Of Wight (& More!) Rally August 2018

I'm going to be getting off as soon as Lu texts to say shes ready to be picked up. Sorry I've not had chance to say goodbyes.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone, especially my fellow marshals & Karen & Alan - the time & effort you've both put into organising this has been very much appreciated.

Safe travels those also leaving today & enjoy the last lovely looking (typical!) day:)

morning sorry to have departed early yesterday but it was for Dental reasons, today I have managed to get an emergency appointment with my own dentist so hopefully I will be in a better frame of mind and not be so grumpy.

edit: safe travels home everybody

Safe travels to all those leaving today. It's been a blast so far, even with the bad weather.

Yesterday was a game of miss the rain clouds, but we did and had a lovely bike ride through the forest.

Treasure Hunt

If you would like to test your observation skills, then here are a few clues you can find answers to on the walk from the field we are all in to the High Street

Just for fun, no prize. I’ll publish the answers on Tuesday.

You’ll need a smartphone to read the questions as you walk, and paper and pencil to record your answers ( or smart phone)

Good luck!

Leave the field and head for the gate

Off to explore the area a little more today with a view to finding out what might be possible next year but everyone's welcome this evening for our last gathering in & around the shelter from 7pm.

Thank you for coming along & bringing your shelter - it was much appreciated by us all. Glad you can get sorted soon & no longer in pain.

Just arrived home.
Big thanks to The Wombles for organising and then, with a great deal of help from soaking wet marshalls getting everybody in and in place safely.
To Chrisalis for the IoW BUS trip with the DRIVER. Made a nice day out.
I notice Shitzz and happy hooker cling on to Tilly far too tightly, but I will nick her one dark night:).

Well the immobilizer stick for the dash worked first touch ( unlike on the way to the rally) arrived home an hour ago roads relitively clear. Thankyou Wombles and all the Marshalls for all your hard work especially in the imclement weather at times. Had a lovely time roll on the next one.:)

@emmitdb thankyou for the bleach tablets as per your instruction i put one down each plug hole, once home opened the grey waste pipe and it all came out incuding some gunk .Hopefully this has sorted my none emptying waste water.

Had a ride in an Austin 12, made the same year as my dad was born, when my cousin Anne and I took him to Beaulieu.

I'm home now after a very enjoyable weekend at Lymington. Many thanks to Alan and Karen for organising such a great venue and to them and the marshals for directing us to the venue (VERY IMPORTANT for me) and then organising us safely on site. You were all brilliant!

Why do restaurants do this ? Why do they insist on serving the bacon butty on a tree instead of a plate. Tut tut

Thanks to Karen and Alan and all helpers for a great rally. Loved the area and will return someday.

For those of you still there enjoy your remaining time.

Ordinarily, at the conclusion of a Rally I do a posting to tell all Funsters how much money was raised by the attendees at a Rally, in this case the Lymington Seafood Festival.

In this particular case however, I'm going to make two postings and I hope you'll understand why;
This message is one of thanks, in no particular order to the following Funsters. Why? Well, prior to the Rally, a Meal was organised at a local hostelry and the deposit money was collected by Mrs @Wildge.

For reasons beyond our control, the meal was cancelled.

The below Funsters decided to give either some or all of their Deposits back into the Prostate Cancer UK funds that we collect at each rally.
Give yourselves collectively a hearty slap on the back;
@Electraglide
@lindyloot
@Anthea M
@Antique
@Debs
@Wildge
@Mr Chrysalis
@REKERLY
@DBK
@TheTwoOfUs
@Jamwitt
@Mitch Matthias
@TheBig1
@Happyhooker
@Dorwyn
@Targetpaster
@fairford rambler

PS. It will be seen that I have got the 'Handle' of the Happy Hooker wrong. I'll pleased to correct that if someone can point me in the right direction???

The total of monies given by the assembled list of Funsters adds up to £160.

Now add to that, £22 given to me by Mr Chrysalis as the remainder of monies left over from the Funsters Coach Trip to the Isle Of Wight and that sum swells to £182!!!

A magnificent amount of money going to a very worthy cause.

Thank you everybody.

Here comes Part Two of the monies raised at Lymington Seafood Festival Rally.

We asked for your books to sell at this rally and you didn't disappoint. There must be bare shelves, the length and breadth of the country as we were inundated by your generous donations.

I was in fear and trepidation of venturing back onto the roads, worrying about the overladen back end of the 'van but the Funsters came to our aid in buying back all the books they had brought (and some)

I am very pleased to report that the total money raised from selling books, T shirts, and the like comes to a wonderful £136!!!
That, added to the previously mentioned donations comes to a Grand Total of ..........£318!!!

As usual I will be sending the money off to the Charity and, in due course I will post the received letters on here.

Thanks once again.

Top work, to my shame I didn’t even know about charity fundraising part of the rally, I will attempt to redeem myself at my next rally.

Yes, a great rally. I slid off earlyish yesterday so missed saying goodbyes to many old and new friends. Hope to meet up with you again. I have booked for Bridport seeing it's also organised by the amazing Wombles, but thanks to everyone who was involved at Lymington.

Can I add my thanks to everyone involved in organising this rally. We were lucky to have decent weather for the IOW trip which was great.
Having a couple of quiet nights at Cheltenham Racecourse before Malvern on Thursday. See some of you there!
:dogthanks:

And us!

Just home having done a slow wonder through the New Forrest.

Thank you to @Wombles and all the other great marshals/helpers at the rally, see you all at Malvern in a couple of days, lets hope the weather holds out for us all.
Thanks to the quiz organisers and the successful pointless answer winners.

Les & TinaL

Evening all, safely home, my added thanks and praise for all those involved in putting this event together (y)(y)

I award myself the award for most miles covered and time spent getting out of 'the forest'

We spent best bit of an hour getting into Lyndhurst, then I got fed up and thought Tom Tom had selected an alternative route out, well it had but not the one we ended up on o_O trundling virtually back on ourselves towards Christchurch, but with a half plan forming in my head

Came off for the Burley road, only to find it closed :( bit of a jiggle and juggle, three point turns a plenty we ended up in Burley and soon after the A31 (y) only took us 90 minutes to get there o_O and all of 25 miles

Next time I will not be so quick to condemn the route through Beaulieu, it now seems to be by far the most sensible way out (y)

It just depends what time you hit Lyndhurst David, I went straight through without stopping, guess you were a bit later leaving;)
