no they don’t mate,, biggest single beam, for weight, I’ve ever put in,,, so I don’t have to juggle them over the piers required to hold em up,I’m going to put beam up, acrow under it and then build piers up to it afterwards! No chance of moving a half ton steel backwards and forwards to juggle it in!
Just one acrow under it? I think you will need more than thatno they don’t mate,, biggest single beam, for weight, I’ve ever put in,,, so I don’t have to juggle them over the piers required to hold em up,I’m going to put beam up, acrow under it and then build piers up to it afterwards! All this work coming in, your bank balance will soon be healthy again, so you could if you choose buy another van for the winter months
You see Ian every reason to stay on Fun with your much loved blog thread.i have been thinking big1,, I would like to have a go at converting a van, this time,, whenever I can afford to get a half decent van! Lol.
If ever you want to convert an ambulance give us a bell, you have seen ours and could put you on to a good one at right money and could show you how to go on.i have been thinking big1,, I would like to have a go at converting a van, this time,, whenever I can afford to get a half decent van! Lol.
A DIY van conversion would be a great project Ian, given what you learnt from the time living in Helga.
Morning Ian.So, that’s my day, I hope
there’s no dramas,,
It’s a UC (Universal Column) Jock, not a RSJ. UC’s are square in section and much heavier per metre run than RSJ’s, and are primarily used for columns.Morning Ian.
Good luck with the RSJ, and stay safe.
Cheers,
Jock.

Ian, don’t forget to brace the Acrows using scaffold sections, especially in the lateral direction. Would like to see pictures of support work as it is at moment ie, before introducing the beam. Good luck, you will be fine with it all - you have thought it all out.
David.
