LIFE AFTER HELGA !!!!

funny some of these housing associations. My friend moved to a warden assisted property and before moving in viewed the place. She was delighted it had a new kitchen with slate floor and polished granite worktops that had apparently cost over £10k just months before. When she moved in she was shocked to see the posh new kitchen had been ripped out and replaced with a very basic cheap one. The management said it was not fair to allow somebody to benefit from extra fixtures and fittings compared to other bungalows on the site so they put it back as it was for the last tenant moving in

amazingly the housing association went broke a couple of years in and was taken over by a bigger association

I use some of the following sites to try a nab some bits. Its a bit of effort searching through, Ian. However, often free and some things in great condition, but just offered as not needed. Most ya can search by bunging in your postcode. Just a thought.

MySkip: a celeb-backed swapping site with photos

Freegle: a new breakaway set of groups from ex-Freecycle UK moderators

Broken Link Removed: a healthy reuse site with a simple design and over 25,000 "virtual skips"

Whatsmineisyours.com: the original clothes-swapping, or "swishing", site

Broken Link Removed: another clothes-swapping site that recently launched a national swapping "road show"

RecycleNow: an official government site that has a postcode service to locate your nearest recycling centre

I picked up loads of great things for my granddaughter when she rented her flat

Ian just a bit off topic, did you ever get the bath water up to temperature. There was a post on here showing a simple fix. I can find it for you if you still need it.

yes fifth,,, all done,, the plumber that fitted my gas cooker took the bath panel off for me, turned the thingy up to max and it’s a lot hotter than it was,,, not brilliant for the top up, but more than hot enough for the fill up cheers! Xx

Evening,,,

well not too much to report,,had a chat with a neighbour for an hour,, and decided to knock myself up a basic cooker hood, so I could have the occasional fag in the kitchen without the stink going everywhere! It works ok, and it will do till I find a nice stainless one that’s in good nick and cheap!!

no mate not yet, just busy working on it!!

rough breakdown as follows,,

kitchen £1000
Lounge, including carpets throughout, £1000
Bathroom £165

bedroom,, bed, wardrobe £70

van £3,500

and I reckon a good bed and mattress £750

and a couple of bits for lounge £300

i gave some money to granddaughter/ daughter/ stepdaughter/ and charity,, ( street peeps) and I start work Monday with some money still in the bank! Bonus! Xxx

oh yes,, sign writing for the van, maybe£300??
Then advertising and setting up a Facebook page, etc! ???

It all seems to be coming together well Ian. Well done you. Just a thought, for a flat an ottoman bed gives a load of storage. I bought a Shire Victoria bed base good quality with a solid base and platform top instead of struts. Then I went online and bought a dormeo memory fresh foam mattress which I am thrilled with. It is delivered rolled up and was recommended by a neighbour. It is slightly less deep than conventional ones but great for my back. I’m about to replace the base in the guest room with another S
Good afternoon,,,

well I just popped into B@Q and got a bargain !!

industrial type floor lamp, should have been £99. End of range, £48. I snapped it up, just what I was looking for,, what do you think?

Don't understand how the cooker hood allows you to smoke, do you have to be underneath it to have a fag .

What'll happen if the inspector smells cigarette smoke ?
I guess they'll be more concerned about the moggies upstairs.
Get the air freshener spray out anyway Ian, you can do without bother from the landlord (y)
Hope it goes well for you.

Good luck tonight. I expect they will be pleased that it looks like a home now.

Good morning,,,

I was so tired last night I went to bed at 7 and have just woken up, having a nice brew!

Well to start,,, had the inspection last night,, nothing to report, she had a look round, a quick chat and said all wasgood,, took ten mins!

Doing a bit of work,, just bricking up some windows, moving outside doors and changing window sizes etc,, boring work but work nonetheless!! Put a load of floor rafters in yesterday, which was handy because it was pouring down with rain and I was inside!!

A couple of the blokes at work have got the flue bug or whatever it is, and now I have woken up I can tell my voice is on the way out,, here we go, hooe it’s not corona!! Which would be unfortunate,, because,,,,, I have a coffee date on Saturday, with a lady who contacted me through the dating site!!

we have spoken on the phone and all good,,,

I won’t say too much, but she works in a unit for and with the criminally insane!!! She will fit right in with me,,lol. Very brainy though, psychology degree etc , and she seems like a good laugh to talk to,,, nice looking, with, by her own admission, big knockers,,, I hooe I won’t be fixated on them sitting across the table from her!! Lolol.

not got much else to say yet,, full days work planned and then the-weekend,,, hooe your week went/ is going well,, I shall update tonight, or when I have more to tell you! Enjoy your Friday!
