Lenny's Wandering around France again.

Just had a walk round and loving it already. Thanks Chaser.👍
Strange place isn't it, just a quiet place on the face of it, but there is everything going on that you can see in any south of France town.
Btw there is bars and shops both ways although it looks as if everything is to the right going out of the gate, the best boulonger is to the left and right at the square.

Sea trout, extremely difficult to get now and so much more expensive than salmon with is almost exclusively farmed. I fished for sea trout for over 20 years within 3 clubs, all based in Wales. I will always remember those short summer nights up to my chest in the tidal stretches of the Towey trying to seek out that most elusive game fish. Waiting for that save take of the fly that often never came and then on the odd occasion, success and a fight to remember. Ten years ago, fresh sea trout from the coracles in Carmarthen was over £8.00 a pound. Sadly, very few game fish running the river now due to pollution.

A successful night in 2011.

The problem with the Towey is not so much pollution but randymoyn dam which for years got its water from the bottom of the dam which lowered the temp of the water and affected the fish breading.

Lenny can you get any closer to the bushes how did you get out the have door 😂
There is a nice gap by the hab door so we can step in & out on grass avoiding treading too much grit into the van.

Hi chaser , where is that spot by the beach please.

Have a look at Chaser's recent thread

Sorry got it wrong it was Harwich to the Hook.
When i looked at that last year before travelling to the UK it was even chepaer thn using dunkirk-Dover. shame i needed to be in devon & not essex or suffolk.
€7.99 for 4 chicken breasts I nearly had a stroke
4,90€ /kg here & that has risen sharply. Jac bought 30kgs on special 2,70€ a while back
Chickens must be rare here though as eggs are extortionate too . Lidl 10 eggs €4.99 😱 asda I can get 12 fir £1.30
I passed free range at £2,50 for 6 in devon.
Used to know a bloke who kept four free range chickens. Used to buy dozens of eggs from supermarket and rub them in the dirt sold as free range. Noone ever noticed or complained :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
used to do work in a butchers shop & when they ran out of free range chicken the manager would get a trussed one from chill room, take the rubber bands off give it a stretch & say "there that looks as if it 's been running"

Or the "top quality British beef" that came from Zimbabwe.

The village..
The church was closed they had a fire in it yesterday.

We visited St Jean de Cole in May 2016 and took similar photos to yours. The difference was many of the shots had PEOPLE in them! October is obviously the time to visit. :)

And commiserations for the thread drift. I normally enjoy a bit of drift as it adds background but your thread is getting chaotic. In ham radio circles it is known as QRM which means man-made interference. Hopefully, things will settle down. :)

At Les Eyzies now. Plenty of space but unless you want to visit the museum ☹️ (lots of bones and tools and not much else) I would not bother. Might go to Sarlat and Lascaux.
We left les Eyzies this morning. Didn't go in the museum, but had some lovely walks on the many, marked walking routes.
It'd be great for cycling, too - except we've got the dog with us 🙂.
We've been before, but we'd definitely go again.
Horses for courses, I suppose 👍.

Well that was a nice break never reliased how much time I was wasting doing these threads. Got very close to not bothering with it.

It was Phil's comment that really would me up, I've met Phil and spent a few days with him and we get on well but often he just doesn't know when to call it a day when posting.

Had to come back it was getting to risky with Tam's Northernraider threat especially has he now has problems keeping his batteries charged.

Can I ask a favour please Jim can you delete the fishy and other non reavant posts.

Bumped into Chris & Graham bellabee eairler than expected we were going to meet up with them later but bumped into them in the Lidl car park at Sarlat. Went and did our shopping came out an Chris & Graham were replaced with Tony & Ginny tony_g. Can't get away from Funsters.

Is that the Sarlat near Bordeaux? There seems to be more than one. :)

It is an area specially set aside for motorhomes but still has the original car park markings. And of course you still get the odd idiot with a car parking there. :X3:

Welcome back Lenny. Love reading your travel blogs even though it makes me dead jealous while I have to stay home and graft. Sarlat on my bucket list - well the whole Dordogne actually. Are you taking requests of where to go next? I quite fancy having a peek at Brive La Gaillard if you are at a loose end.

Plan on visiting Sarlat and the area in May next year. Looking forward to it as wanted to go there for years and never managed it.

What are the typical evening temperatures like down there in May ?
