Lenny's Wandering around France again.

I'm seriously thinking about the hull crossing this year, it's 1 1/2 hrs drive from my house compared with about 5 to 6hrs down to dover.
Some competitive prices including cabin and 2 passengers in January £175.
done it 3 weeks ago, saved me the M6, enjoyed it

Got a move on today, now in the Dordogne, shouldn't have bother the weather is crap.
We arrived at Brantôme to find Chris bellabee has done a runner she must have known I was coming and tony_g has not bothered to turn up. No one likes me anymore.
So we are the only Brits in the village.

Mr Wallet not happy €8.10/24 hr, quite a nice Aire, looks like an old municiple.

Had a quick look at Brantome but moved on to Perigueux for a couple of days. Market tomorrow. Nice site very near centre €15 for 48 hours. Don't mind that for location. Weather forecast a bit better tomorrow. Plenty of room here but no leccy sadly.

We love salmon but june/july when we were over paid €17 for 2 fillets in Carrefour that we would pay less than a fiver for in tesco , We did resort to other fish instead.
Much cheaper in Lidl, I prefer sea Trout and its cheaper than salmon.

We're here, too. Which van are you? We're the Hymer B588DL, about half way along the site.
Moving on to les Eyzies tomorrow. We"re not struck on Perigueux, I'm afraid.
And thank goodness that screaming child in the flats has now shut up🙂.

Lenny HB if we'd known you were coming to Brantôme, we'd have waited.
We spent three nights there and had lovely weather 🌞.

Is your table wrapped in cling film ?
It's a table protector but it's a bit past its prime jep meaning to throw it.

???
How many have you had tonight?
My fishing days have ended. I stopped fishing the Towey 5 years ago. No fish caught in the previous 2 years and clubs vlosing left right and centre and rod returns indicating only a few fish running the river. Slurry a major cause of pollution and trawling in Carmarthen Bay sucking up the majority of fish.

Hi Gina

We were across till 29th September and there were loads of sites and aires still open.
Many of the sites were open till end of October.

Many campsites have recently closed for the season in the south of France, but aires are all open. Having said that we're staying on a little campsite at La Palud sur Verdon, high above the Gorge du Verdon tonight that is still open and reasonably busy, including "real campers" sleeping under canvass - which is pretty hardy seeing as we're 1000m above sea level.

Lenny you did mention before that you used the wine Carafe to measure how much wine you have drunk of an evening
Question: do you fill the wine glasses up before you fill the Carafe? ;) :giggle:
Also, I thought you would have like me, a jar of Thai Chilli Oil on the side, much better at spicing rice things up than Hot Paprika.
Happy Travels.

Been going to France in Motorhomes since 2008, most camp sites close end of September a lot even at the end of August.
Of the 6000 or more Aires the ones that close in the winter you can count on one hand usually ones associated with sites. Virtually all are open but they may turn the water off from November until end of March particularly in the North or mountain regions.
