I'm loving crocheting. All these years I've lost. My mum tried getting me crocheting years ago and I wasn't interested. Funny how you change.

It's a great, simple square. Even I can do it. I've tried some of the ones off the internet and got completely lost.

It won’t take long Judith ...I’ve just started on my throw again it’s almost halfway there I’ve spent all afternoon fastening off the ends on the part that’s been stitched together....note to myself I MUST FASTEN OFF ENDS AS I GO ALONG

Hi Kate - I’m afraid life has taken over, and I haven't had a chance to do any more. Also I've forgotten how to start the button off -I remembered it was a four chain, but do I start the second row at the hook end or the far end?

Ooh you’re giving me purple envy now It’s always been my favourite colour.

We had our van refurbished in predominantly purple, so a purple themed throw seems like a necessity

Sorry I have not posted for a while, what a brilliant time we had @old-mo s us lady's got together and had a great time crocheting poppies, trying to master the magic circle, thank you @The Happy Hooker for your patience in showing me how to do @Janines flowers. Thank you everyone for taking on board a flower for Amanda I know it will mean a lot to her and the flowers posted are just beautiful.

As mentioned I did pass on a bag stuffed full of poppies to @icantremember Joyce & Brian along with Kate's bag. Lovely to see the variety and different shades of poppies.
@snailtrailer what a wonderful idea of the different colour hats for the babies I would love to see a photo of them. When my niece had her baby she had the most delightful small hat placed on her head, it was a god send because the weather was cold I think it will always be treasured.
Good to see all the poppies and other crocheting lots of ideas, loved the Royal wedding @Jenben puts me to shame.

I’ve found the hooks and wool ( now decorating is done and front room is sorted!)

Purple throw picture attached. Only big enough for a mousy atm, only one square done so far. Going to peruse the wool selection in the Chinese shop this morning for some more colours.

The purple is more "purple" in real life.

I’m not sure how well it comes out but part of the check is purple and all the curtains are purple. Our bedspread is a lighter purple. I certainly prefer it to the old Swift yellowy beige but it’s not everyone’s cup of tea

Anthea is the reason this thread was started. She mentioned that she had always wanted a granny square blanket and would I make one for her. I happily agreed but said I would teach her so that she could make the second one. (Give a man a fish/teach a man to fish etc. etc.) and rather than PM I started the Learn to Crochet thread. Having seen the picture @movan Joy posted above @Anthea M may have higher aspirations and would like to have flowers on her squares.

@davanne Anne Have you any idea how much yarn you've used on your throw so that I can tell Anthea how much to buy? I can't tell with mine because it's all short lengths of tapesry wool.
