Hello all, doing a bit of card making here. A batch of cards for my 7 swimming mermaid friends, In the spirit of recycling I have been making good use of a 2019 (and 2020 !) swimmers calendar to make individual Christmas trees for each of their cards .

It’s quite relaxing and a bit of fun recycling bits of card :giggle:

This afternoons task (after an emergency dash with a tiny hedgehog to the hedgehog rescue centre ) is turning an inflatable beach ball into a giant Christmas bauble to be hung in trees in the village ::bigsmile:

Work is continuing here across our village on giant baubles to hang by the WI bench in a tree. Here is my effort , as a work in progress.

One of my mates is eating her way through a pack of mini yoghurts so that they can be sprayed in gold paint to make the hanging thing on the top of the bauble.

Carolyn I don't understand the mini yoghurt pots.. can you describe please?

I may be wrong, but it looks like it was just the bit other items were attached to when they were injection moulded and they were just snapped off it, I'm guessing the item at the top was one of them.
You could wrap pretty wool around it and make a Christmas decoration.
Is the round thing half of a bobble maker?

A satisfying recycle and reuse crafty session today with fabric dumped on me like I am a tip gifted by Chris’ aunt plus my fabric offcuts and a flat old cushion pad that I was keeping for stuffing which I made to fit .The great thing is that I can now gift thIs back to her as a Christmas present ::bigsmile:

I'm working on a gift for my Mum for Christmas..... the file is too large to load but it's a fancy chart of the family tree (her side of the family only). I've quite a bit more work to do on it and will then have it printed out A2 size and get a frame.

That sounds like a wonderful Christmas present ! How thoughtful .

It's driving me a bit crazy to be honest. I've spent all day on it and got nowhere!! I may have to bite the bullet and pay for a copy to be printed so I can see what needs to be altered and how much margin I will have to play with.

I was going to have it printed as photo wall art but the sizes aren't correct for standard frames so now I am thinking I will have it done as an A1 or A2 poster and get a poster frame ...... or if I do it in A0 I'll just give it to her as a scroll...... but I am also concerned about being able to read the names either because they are too small or because they are too blurry when they are blown up.

It might be worth it as you will then be able to see yourself what it looks like,

There are lots of places offering a printing service (I have used it for pattern printing as often they are now available as a pdf but are a pain to print yourself )

I made this Christmas rag wreath yesterday. I'm quite pleased with the end result.
I used a 25cm metal wreath frame from Hobbycraft and Christmas fabric ripped into strips about 1.5cm wide then cut to about 12cm long. Then just half hitched them round the metal, pushing them together so there are no gaps and fluffing the ends out when finished. My mum has now put in an order for one!

Today I cut some of our osier willow and twisted the withies into circle shapes with the intention of making a couple of "structures" to stand either side of our front door, just inside the porch. I have made some origami hearts and stars and I know we have some battery operated light strands in the Christmas box plus I have a big bag of silver and pale pink baubles. I don't usually bother much about Christmas decoration being a bah-humbug type but if I can make just one person smile this year it will be worth it.

My next project , Scandi Christmas tree using recycled materials, having a zoom demo tomorrow night as a WI but thought I might try to get some materials gathered

I quite fancy making a bauble wreath.
I saw one on the Crafty Campers faceache page then saw Captain Y 's pictures of his baubles on display on the MT which gave me the nudge so I have ordered some polystyrene hoops off t'interweb (local shop doesn't have any) and will dig out the baubles we don't use.
Maybe I should finish the rag wreaths and Christmas masks I'm in the middle of making first though.......
