That will do nicely, now to teach myself how to do it. know I have a teach yourself crochet book somewhere, and there is always utube. will make it a bit bigger first, have found so much yarn, it will be a way to use some of it up.

davanne thanks so much.
If you are like me you will know how to do it but just forgot what these words 'double crochet, treble etc' mean. I have made a little chart with the words and then the symbol and just look it up from there. The symbol to me is much easier ie a T with one - through it, yarn over hook once and then into the work, work off 2 loops. Even explaining it makes it seem complicated.
I especially need that as UK and US terms are different, these doily books are all US.

Great Janine I can remember my mother and aunties wearing jumpers like the Victory Jumper. I have lots of old patterns but nothing quite as old as that - eighty years!!!
My friend, of the crochet cotton, also has some knitting magazines from her mum from the 30's. They are all bound in a folder thing. I made a few things (some of the young nieces like retro), lovely designs but the sizes are tiny. Guess it tells you something about how our body shape has changed. Even the patterns for larger figures were probably only a 12-14.
Edit: it even had knitted swimming costumes in one issue, gave that one a miss!

A bit of vintage for the knitters amongst us..

My Dad would adore that V neck :)

I'm tempted with the tea cozy for the van ........ yes, we do use a teapot as I think tea from a tea pot tastes better!

I so want to get on with my Persian Tiles but, as I had so many birthday presents, I am saving that package until Christmas. That should give me time to finish a few other bits and pieces. I decided to make Teddy a new coat from Aran wool; then I have November's octopals to make. (I always put octopals because I don't know whether the plural is octopuses. Offagain Help!

My other package arrived - unseen by Derek - and now safely stashed away until I can combine and sort all the colours.

I started my blitz of the house. I do "spring-cleaning" four times a year so that I can get on with my other projects. Got a bathroom and an en-suite done before lunchtime.(y)

Puddleduck Helen, I do enjoy the big clean (why? because it is something I am expert at  ) but tiggling about with a duster and vacuuming doesn't inspire me at all. Derek always seem to appreciate shiny taps and today I have given him the new towels we had in the motorhome.

There is something satisfying about shiny taps Pam they seem to make the bathroom sparkle

Especially for Cherub who asked to see a photo of the dog coat. Teddy has been very poorly and over the weekend we really thought we were going to have to make the heartbreaking decision. Suddenly this morning he was back to his old self though still weak. He will be 13 on 5th November and Lowchen have a life span of 12 - 14 years.56AFB956-A48A-4B72-915C-0929AF1CDC37.jpeg

Well done Teddy. Loving your coat, too.

That should keep him nice and warm ....he’s a real cutie Pam

jumartoo Did she find it straightforward - she must have done - she is really quick. Is every shape going to be the same colourways (Persian Tiles) or, like Eastern Jewels, fairly random? My wool (acrylic!) is still unopened as it is a Christmas present, so I am sewing up baby things that got put to one side to make Teddy's coat.

Well I’m rubbish at swimming!
For me it helped to have a reason, a purpose to it. I half heartedly tried learning to crochet a couple of times over the years, but it was only when I decided I wanted to contribute to the OFAPUK cause that I managed it. I tried making the knitted ones but my hands wouldn’t cooperate!
Sending hugs for you and your family tomorrow, saying goodbye to baby Archie.

(I would have messaged tomorrow but I have to be st hospital for 8.30am)

She is very quick. I don't know how she's going to do it, I'm just getting screenshots on Messenger. She did say she'd only used a tiny amount of wool so far. I rather think she might make them random. I sent her Angela's Mrs Badknee photo, so she might do it in a similar way.

She's following this, I think.

Hi jumartoo , you mum has done really well and so quickly! I made the first blanket following this pattern and colour as suggested but the second I used some colour substitutes. it was easy to work out when you knew what rounds had the same colours. The kit contains enough yarn to complete all the octogens, I went on to do an extra 8 with the left over yarn. Although I did a plain border. Hope she enjoys it!
I am currently doing a 6 colour way , with all the tiles the same.
