Morning crafters

I had a tidy up of my craft room yesterday in prep for lockdown 2 as I work better when the space is organised.

I have lots of bits of fabric so decided to have a go at appliqué . I bet by the time I finish this it looks more like an ostrich

James & Ashleigh made these for Christmas presents when they were in uni, ours is looking a bit tired now. Note the A&J label on the side.

Thank you for all your thoughts, ladies. It was a very sad day, made worse by all the covid restrictions and not being able to hug anyone .
But now it's time to look forward and be happy that Reggie is improving and getting stronger daily (touching a lot of wood) and the medics are tentatively talking about him maybe coming home for Christmas, even if only for a few hours.

On a crafty note, today I'm going to be making Christmas themed face masks, as requested by some of the girls and other members of the family. Although having looked through my stash I don't have much Christmas fabric left so I might need to go shopping!

I had a messenger video chat with mum last night. She was well onto her second "tile"? She's already bought more wool. At the rate she's going I'll be looking for another Christmas pressie for us 😊.

Anthea Offagain that's good news about Reggie. If positive vibes can help, he'll be getting a good supply!

Offagain you have had such a difficult time and sadness while you were away so pleased to hear that little Reggie is getting stronger.
I do enjoy seeing everybody's various projects I think it's a huge help having various hobbies in this strange period.
I have started my crochet again Grandson wants a double douvet. Yellow gold orange black and purple all very strange.

Carol Those colours, especially orange and purple, are reminiscent of the seventies. It's not often you see those two colours together. Won't it cost a fortune?

I forgot to show you the finished bear.

This is what I've been doing today:

You'll note the total absence of robins, reindeer and holly 😏. I decided to wait until lock down is finished on Monday to go shopping for Christmas fabric as although I would class it as an essential journey I'm not sure that Pc Plod would agree.

Apparently its to do with Mexico day of the dead and a bit of purple bought in for interest. He is a bit alternative though.
I've managed to get some wool from.Home Bargains which is not to bad

I love the owl ..... we have barn owls and tawny owls round here and the owlets often perch on out bedroom windowsill and shout for Mum - wakes you up very quickly!!!!!! And they just look at you through the window when you go to see what the noise is, totally unafraid.

I'm making a winter sweater for Grandson #1 and will then do similar for Grandson #2 and then something else for Grandson #3 .......

Love it!
I've been fabric shopping now that I'm allowed, and sourced some more Christmas fabric. Plus the fabric to make some cushion covers and curtains for the boat. It's all in the washing machine now.
Usually I make masks which are patterned on one side and plain on the other so they can be worn for serious or frivolous purposes. I've also started inserting a 10cm piece of thin copper wire (stolen from the garage!) into a small pocket so they can be moulded around the bridge of the nose, to stop the misting up of spectacles, which I find extremely irritating.

I bet that felt nice to be able to get out and about .

Instead of copper wire, pipe cleaners with the ends folded back on themselves works really well, so my wife tells me 😉

It was lovely. Although from what I've heard from others, I was in the minority during lockdown as I only went out three times, once to the chapel of rest, once to the funeral and once food shopping last weekend.

Yes but they will rust after repeated washing, so I'm told. Copper wire won't. But thanks for the thought.

Don’t you remove before washing ?

I made a small pocket on the back of the mask so the pipecleaner can be taken out before washing.
Good idea.
However my intention is to make them idiot proof, if they forget to take them out it doesn’t matter and also they have no reason not to wash them. Plus the masks I make are reversible.

Lovely to see all the craftiness! I have also been mainly making masks, as well as attempting to create a replacement for the curtain that goes around the back of the drop down bed in the van. The current one having been used for nesting materials by the (now ex) Meece. The curtain was a bit too big, So I’ve made it a little smaller. . .now thinking it may not be big enough. Just finishing it before trying it.. . .I may be spending the afternoon sulking. . .

I’ve sourced some funster friendly fabric for masks and Jim has given the okay for me selling them on the forum, so I may do that.
Decided to experiment with my hair colour.

Another bit of edging with leftover cotton, size 80. Irish crochet lace, very clever as it is worked from the short end but the scallops still hang down.
Next I have one ball of size 100, even I start to feel like sausage fingers with that.
Do envy all the lovely blankets and think I should have a go making one for in here, my national price controlled blanket no 1684 does very well but is rather plain (selling price to the public incl. P. tax 34/9).
