Learn to crochet?

When we bought this house the attic was supposed to be mine ........ but now the attic contains a model railway and I am in what was the guest bedroom. Now our daughter has moved out I would be able to fill her old bedroom as well ........

We have a garage, John's car, motorbike, cycles tools, wood etc.
We also have an attic, but that is where the bedrooms are.
I have the small downstairs bedroom as my 'snug' full of a lot of the things Mr Magpie can't find a home for. Have resorted to putting things on top of his bef when I get really fed up.
So sorry about little Archie, do hope his brother is ok.

Perhaps it is time for a she-cave in the garden?

This is my she-cave, my studio and craft room and gallery on wheels (home and bathroom and kitchen and bedroom too, I'm a full timer, coming up to 3 years and loving it) :giggle: . Think I have pretty much fine-tuned the best use of space. Half imp paper is pushing it but 1/4imp is ok.

I have a poem on the wall:

Here you can be at home.
Let yourself down or off.
Wear wisdom strong upon your brow.
Or weep.

I don't have a craft room 🥺

I use one of the spare bedrooms as my craft room.

We don't have a garage 🥺

Our bungalow used to have a garage (before we bought it) but it was turned into an extra bedroom but had to go through the bedroom I use so Joe has that as his work room!

We only need one spare bedroom and that doesn't get used very often now that the kids have moved back south - only really got used when they were living in Yorkshire.

Okay, maybe you need a trailer!

I love the poem - all except the weeping.

One reason we haven't downsized is because of our hobbies. In fact we will be getting a shipping container in the near future as Martin would like to set up his telescope again.

Alan is using our spare bedroom to work from home

Ok you lovely lot I’m looking for a bit of help here please.
Does anyone have a nice pattern for a crochet or knitted teddy that they’re willing to share with me please? I need it pronto as one of the girls will purchase and deliver me the makings (we’re in lockdown and quarantine) and I need to have it finished by the weekend - no pressure! I’ve looked on Pinterest but nothing inspires me.
A suggestion of an online pattern I can buy would also be good. Preferably one that has been tried and tested as I don’t have time to make one that doesn’t turn out right.

I’ll give you the background - I can talk about it on this thread, but not the morning one as I know there is someone from our area who reads it and #4 daughter doesn’t want it generally known (gossiped) about locally yet.
As some of you will know one of our girls announced to us in May that they were expecting twins. Long story short she had some complications and the boys arrived on 26 September at 24 wks. She was ok but both boys were quite poorly. It’s been an emotional roller coaster since then, as you can imagine, especially with us being away on the boat. She told us not to come back early as with local lockdown (Swansea) and general Covid rules we couldn’t see her or the babies anyway.
Then two weeks later little Archie lost his struggle and we made arrangements to return ASAP.
His funeral is next Tuesday and yesterday evening his mum requested a teddy with his name embroidered on it for the top of the coffin. So I decided I would make one.
Reggie, his brother, is currently relatively stable but every day there is something to keep everyone on their toes whether it’s an infection or collapsed lung or something else. The staff in NICU have been amazing and mum and dad have been given hospital accommodation across from the hospital for as long as they need it, so they don’t need to drive back and forth from Pembrokeshire every day.
So sorry to read this, keeping everything possible crossed for Reggie xx

I’m probably a bit late Offagain but I found this free pattern on Ravelry 😊 https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/dawson-the-teddy-bear

Offagain Anthea I am so sorry I have only just see the news about the twins.
it must have been awful for you being so far away.
You and your family are in my thoughts fingers and everything else crossed for little Reggie.

Sue on the throws I have done I have done a wide border of double crochet.

don't laugh but i can only do the square, treble I hink it is, will need to look on utube

:blush::blush:
Sue it’s simple it’s easier than trebles put the hook in pull wool through then pull hook through both strands
not sure I’ve explained that very well but it is easy and it gives a nice firm edge.

I feel I should confess here, I still have not learnt to crochet .
Well I’m rubbish at swimming!
For me it helped to have a reason, a purpose to it. I half heartedly tried learning to crochet a couple of times over the years, but it was only when I decided I wanted to contribute to the OFAPUK cause that I managed it. I tried making the knitted ones but my hands wouldn’t cooperate!
