Jane & Rog’s retirement tour, Morocco 2023

Thanks for the engaging read, have a safe trip home, if it’s any consolation our cockapoo killed a couple of our neighbors chickens when she was young, it was not recieved very well (understandably)
But anyone letting them roam free is obviously not that precious about them. Dogs often do what comes natural. Loved your well written blog, thanks again.

Really enjoyed your blog.. you have a great style of writing and I look forward to read more if your adventures
I feel you’ve given a lot of confidence to nervous folks (us!) thinking of travelling to ‘far off climes’
Safe journey home 🧡

Great blog, from 2 thoroughly open and honest people and a lovely Flynn! This blog has been a complete breath of fresh air compared to others that I have read.
As for the minor negativity, this forum I’ve found in the couple of years of mooching around seems to have a few keyboard warriors and others who love a moan and a nick pick! I have to bite my tongue and try to avoid many a topic in that U Shaped Lounge!
Our Zazu (Shorthaired Pointer) would love to bump in to you 3 anytime and she’d have a blast with Flynn……BUT our trips are limited, due to us both still bloody working!! 😜
you’ve created special memories for all 3 of you and as much as I know your Dad would’ve have not wanted you to have cut your travels short, he will absolutely love it when you walk in to see him in a few days time! 👍
Safe travels and keep writing, it comes natural…..

Your posts have made for a thoroughly absorbing read. I do hope that you decide to post a summary of your trip once you have taken stock of your experinces. My OH and I will be re-reading all of your posts making notes of all the valuable information they contain that will surely aid us when we take our first trip there next year.
I hope your father's health improves.
A massive thank you for making this thread. Keep safe and well.

I’ve said it many times but your thread has been fantastic. You’ve raised the bar considerably in terms of quality content and have been inspirational to so many people. You‘ve made the right decision to head home, I’d have done the same thing under those circumstances. Have a relaxing journey home.

Really enjoyed reading your blog Jane And Rog ,it really was an interesting and informative read.
Has it made me want to go to Morocco ,no I don’t think so ,we will stick with France and Spain .
I hope you carry on posting your journey home as love the way you write, warts and all.
Happy birthday for your dads 90th,what great age to achieve 🥂
Have a safe journey home (y)

I too have really enjoyed your thread and hope you continue it on your way home. Like Jo662 above, it has taken not made me want to visit but I have liked reading about it and “meeting” you two.
I have been once before on a standard holiday package, flights, hotel to Essouria and we took a hire car for an overnight stay to Marrakesh. I couldn’t wait to get out of Marrakesh.
Being a vegetarian doesn’t help !
Best wishes for your journey home and for your Dad. A bit late now, but I would turn off email notifications from Fun (under preferences) so that you only see comments at a time of your choosing when you look at the forum.

We are back in Spain! Apart from the ferry leaving two hours late, everything went very smoothly. I can’t add anything to the vexed question of exactly what dog documentation is needed, as no one even so much as looked at Flynn, let alone his pet passport.
Thanks for confirming my article is still relevant, must be 5yrs old now!

But a question. Did you get your passports stamped on arrival back in Spain? I would have thought that's where doggy control might be.

Bit frustrating as that was one of the reasons (not the main TBH) why we chose not to go to Maroc.

Thank you for posting your blog, have rushed to it every day to see your comments and superb photos. We once had a very short February holiday in Marrakesh and would have liked to explore the country more, Fez, Atlas mountains etc. Found it very atmospheric then, not sure I would have liked it at peak tourist time. We stayed in one of the pretty riads, Palais Sebban, in the old city, not far from the main square, and walked everywhere. Just loved hearing about all your experiences.

Do hope your dad makes good progress healthwise and hope you get your campervan problems fixed soon.

Yes we did. No interest there (passport control), and customs, who I thought would be interested in the import certificate, just waved us by.

Wow, thanks for such a lovely post. I’m welling up, in a good way this time :)

Thanks for taking the time to post this lovely blog. Your pictures are great and I love Flynn.😘
Take no notice of those negative comments. They shouldn't post and upset you. Just look at how many others are following and enjoying your thread.
Looking forward to reading more. 👍🙂🐕

HaHa…..hopefully we all may bump in to each other and share a few beers and a glass of wine on a site sometime and Rog and I can bbq a few chickens! 🫣
safe journey home. 👍

And thanks to everyone too for your lovely comments. They kept me going at various points when I felt like giving up. And all those if you who are doubtful about Morocco - don’t be. I must admit to being nervous as we drove off the ferry at Tanger Med - now I can’t wait to get back. See you there!

Great thread thanks for posting.
Very refreshing that, for the most part this was all about the journey, really nicely written with some great photos. (y)
Safe travels.

Thank you so much for the blog, it's been a great read
Hope your Dad is on the mend and he has a good birthday

As it appears I am the one to blame for the "negative" comments, it was not intended so and I also think this has been a marvelous thread, I was just commenting on the fact that that dog could be heading for serious trouble.
I hope you all still think it is ok and humerus when some dog comes into your garden and kills your animals.

Honestly I think it's time to drop this now chaser. I have certainly not picked up anywhere in this thread that Rog thought it was humourous. In fact he went to some trouble to explain how it happened and how bad he felt. Time to put the stick down and give them a break.

Jane and Rog, thanks for all the effort you put into this thread. We are due to go to Morocco on the 14th and you have given us a real insight. If you do decide to write some reflective notes on your trip I for one would be very interested in reading them. Safe journey home.

Dog with a bone ??? ::bigsmile:
I am not trying to prolong this, I had done with it, but others keep on about negative comments which it wasn't about the thread, it is excellent.
And in actual fact I wasn't the first to comment on the dog and I wasn't going to till I saw someone else thought the same.

Here’s a suggestion to all……let’s not mention any other comments, references etc. on the said topic! otherwise it’s just dragging what is an excellent blog down the wrong path and quite honestly probably putting people off from writing stuff as it is Warts an all!!!!

Thank you so much for this thread Jane and Rog. Really enjoyed it. Safe journey home, take care and wish your dad a very happy 90th birthday from me.

Safe travels home Jane, Rog and Flynn. We have really enjoyed reading about your trip. We were in Morocco early 2020, our trip was curtailed due to a family emergency and then covid.
We will go back.
Interesting that none of the dog’s paperwork was checked. We experienced the same but wondered if the Spanish entry would be different for you.

One reason we didn’t return this year was the extra dog flaff and trouble finding acceptable insurance for our new motorbike.

I’ve written about our trips previously and I know the time and effort required so many thanks for sharing yours.

Hope you Dad is well enough to enjoy his birthday. Safe travels Dawn and Martin

I might pop back here with some thoughts on travelling to Morocco and what we’ll do differently next time, if that’s of interest
Yes please!

When I was finding my way around the forum after I joined a few years ago, I came across the Morocco photo section & have had a little niggly itch to visit ever since. I think it was the year Carol & Eddie were out there. Thanks to your great & entertaining posts it might yet be a possibility!

Safe travels & hope your dad keeps well and has a great 90th birthday.

Many thanks for taking the time to write up about your travels, would like to try Morocco but Mrs CC is not convinced you show a very clean and safe experience the opposite of what she thinks it’s like☹️

Excellent thread and thank you for not straying from your travel talk and going on about political crap like other threads do very refreshing 😁😁
