It was a statement that only a woman could make.

They'll never understand. It's their fault entirely though, if they told us where we left it last time we used it, we wouldn't have to go and buy another. I've reached an equilibrium now, as I have every tool I could ever need in every place I will ever look.
Unless SWMBO tidies up behind me. :imoutahere:

Please don't ask how many mains corded drills, routers, grinders, circular saws and jigsaws I have. :oops2:

I was beginning to feel inadequate, then I remembered my two jigsaws, my air compressor with an air driven angle grinder, impact wrench, professional tyre changing machine, bench grinder, valve spring compressor, vernier gauges, torque wrench, a 16" breaker bar & a 24" breaker bar.

No need for small text admitting you have one, be proud and shout it loud. :giggle:, or is a case of keeping it quiet from your wife ?
No she's fine with it - you haven't seen her wool collection - I'm faintly embarrassed to be continually adding to the list. :giggler:

Mind you it's a serious kind of corrosion when that thing needs to come out. It is good for preparing brick & stonework for render though.

You might use that line to try and impress the women, but suspect your just tickling around the edges with the kit that some Funsters have. Looks like you have opened a can or worms on this one.

Can I just ask how many pots and pans do most women have in their kitchen, let alone kitchen gadgets?
I agree with the drills each one has a job!
Enough to belt him round the head if he gets cheeky because of the encouragement you lot are giving him. ;)
Very true - shoes and horses spring to mind
Horses.......don't ask Robert about rugs...?

I remember as a kid I was always tinkering with bikes & stuff

My dad told me there was a metal chest in the loft full of tools & that when I was 14 I could have them

Well, when the big day came, inside the chest was a cobblers anvil, a Whitworth spanner and a childs rusty bucket & spade - thanks dad

My dear other half Mrsambulancekidd yesterday asked me "how many drill's does one man need?".
I was shocked that she should ask me such a daft question as Hazel isn't the type to ask a man silly questions & is normally very understanding of how a mans workshop should be.

I've recently upgraded my DeWalt collection by purchasing two new drill guns along with extra batteries to replace my old non lithium guns.
One is a light model for drilling pilot holes & one seriously powerful beasty for driving screws or serious drill working & my old DC988 as a backup, but I might sell this one on at a later date as the gun & the battery are in perfect working order.
I also bought the genuine lithium adapter to use my new batteries in my DeWalt 1/2 impact gun, so that's not a drill at all.

So come on gents, try to explain that a man can never have too many tools in his workshop, its just not possible?

I think from the photo I can understand why she would ask that question, it's exactly the sort of question my wife would ask too.

So who owning up to power tools they’ve never used in anger.

I‘ll own up to

240v chain saw (good price too good not to buy, about 4years ago, one day I’ll find a tree in need of sawing,)
240v plunge saw (crap design from Screwfix lesson if your buying pay for quality)
240v angle grinder (found the one I’d lost in back of garage, will come in handy one day, probably)

Used my 240v chainsaw last week and likely too again this week.
My 10" Evolution 240v siding mitre saw was bought at ScrewFix and gets used every other week on average and seems to be a good bit of kit, but I don't think it's a ScrewFix own brand ?

Now the 240v angle grinder. The 4.5" ones are regularly used but the 9" probably 4 years ago.
Needed to use it last year but could not find it and then remembered lending it out.
I know next doors had borrowed it before so when I heard the sound of a big angle grinder cutting paving slabs next door I looked over the wall and saw the grinder and it's case were the same as mine.
Asking the neighbour if it was my grinder he said no, he had given it back and bought the same as mine.
At this point I was thinking you lying bastard and he had got some front and thought if that's you game, then you are borrowing sod all else off me again.
I was visiting a friend a couple few weeks later and as I was leaving he said, I keep forgetting to give you this back, you guest it, the 9" grinder.

Seeing this thread has made me order another cordless drill. I do have two but one is NiCd and the battery loses charge.
I also have 3 mains ones and a mains drill press, 2 jigsaws one cordless a circular saw and a bench mitre saw which I use a lot and a reciprocating mains saw. Only one bench grinder and a 4.5" angle grinder.
Also two cordless tyre pumps.

i daren't list the tools i have ... it would make me buy more ....

none of them are for technical jobs ie working on cars etc, they are all for building something or other ...

i see no-one has admitted having a paslode gun yet ...... great but dangerous bit of kit (i put a 95mm nail through the fleshy part of my thumb, removed it myself and stuck a plaster and anti septic on it and still have it ...)

They are in my etc ?

1st and 2nd fix ??

Being a fulltimer I do miss some of the tools I used to have. Bench grinder, pillar drill, planer and thicknesser etc etc.
But as Wildbill will attest I don't do too badly for someone without a garage :D

If you wouldn’t lend your wife out, don’t lend your kit out ?

Well if its anything like me you can never have to many as the Kids keep asking if they can borrow a drill and charger and then they seem to never reappear so the question i get is why have you bought another, having said that i do have an impact, SDS and battery screwdriver all from the ryobi one stable but alase no batteries or charger as they have been borrowed and not returned, lol
