Inconsiderate motorhome driver

Pappajohn just wanted someone to own up..................................

Geoff

if the hold up was caused by a bus, taxi, cyclist, antique vehicle etc etc ..........

some drivers drive slow, some drivers drive fast - why do we get so angry or annoyed? perhaps the driver behind the motorhome was holding everyone up by not passing when they could? i often drive in the belief that if someone wants get past then they will and by applying my brakes to slow down, at times i think are helpful, it gives them that opportunity.

i dont understand why it is considered as being inconsiderate when driving at a speed that the driver is comfortable with? i agree it can be frustrating and i have been more then frustrated at times, but i cant imagine someones possible lack or otherwise of a father figure would influence their driving style.

i am Spartacus, now where can i buy a Tiger sticker?

Sometimes you slow right down to 30 on a straight and the cars still won't overtake!

Mesmerised by the tiger decal!

A speed limit is a figure to keep below not a target to reach.

Wasn't me, I scare the sh*t out of myself going too fast on small roads.
More annoying are those stupid car drivers that crawl along and you are stuck behind them in the Motorhome & everyone behind is blaming you.

Not entirely true.

If the conditions allow you should travel at or near the speed limit so as to not frustrate drivers behind you. It’s called making progress. When I did my motorbike IAM test the examiner ( a police officer) told me to travel at up to 10% above the limit to allow for the fact that speedos under-read by about that. This was in the 90s and way before all these bloody cameras.

You would fail an advanced test if you travel much below the limits for no good reason.

What *sporting* teams have Tigers in Yorkshire, I can only think of Castleford RL. just trying to narrow the airstrike down for PJ!

I was under the impression that the plural of Spartacus is Spartaci.xroll::xThumb:
Depends ... can be an 'i' or 'uses' as in:
syllabus: syllabi or syllabuses
terminus: termini or terminuses
So maybe its it is Spartacuses rather than Spartaci ? x:-)

Strange, I've never seen that written down anywhere, what about if there are no drivers behind you?? :giggle:

All very well but if they drove to the speed limit they would not be enjoying the scenery as much ::bigsmile:

If you go too slowly there soon will be. 😉Slow driving encourages following drivers to risk overtakes that might not be appropriate.

Is it not better for them to drive at a speed they feel safe at rather than go too fast, have an accident and block the road for hours?

I know that when they brought in the constant 50mph speed limit on the M25 near Dartford Bridge that I used regularly about 10yrs ago,
I was much happier at a constant 50mph flow than the stop/ start progress that it replaced.

Of course. But how many times have we followed a slow driver feeling really frustrated and looking f9r the overtake? The frustration leads to people going faster or taking more risks than is safe.

IMHO, drivers should drive up to the speed limit, providing the conditions are safe. There appears to be no logical reason why the driver would be driving between 30 and 40 mph with their foot on the brake all of the time nor why the driver did not pull over to allow others to overtake. It seems that many folk get really upset when held up for a few seconds by cyclists riding two abreast but there don't appear to be many folk getting concerned about being held up for 24 miles by this apparently selfish driver.

Both piss me off.😡😡

I recently slowed down to create an opportunity for some drivers to overtake safely on a wide straight road, but the driver behind me either wasn't aware of what I was doing or just wasn't capable of taking the opportunity. It just ended up with a long tailback of half a dozen faster vehicles. In these situations I try to take the opportunity to pull over, and occasionally when I have done so I have had a toot on the horn or a wave of a hand in thanks from drivers with a bit of road sense. I can also sympathise with drivers who end up behind a trio of motorhomes, so I try to avoid ending up in a convoy. Otherwise it just gives us all a bad press.
From now on I'll keep my eyes peeled for the Tiger on the road. Do I report back here if I see him/her? :xrofl:

No , i own a motorhome ( campervan ) with a big tiger on the back.

Some inconsiderate tw@t in a motorhome on the Guisboro to Whitby road (24 miles) doing between 30mph and 40mph with a foot constantly on the brake pedal.
The van had a large decal on the back of a Tiger ....unmissible.
I was 12 to 15 cars behind and a further 30 or so behind me.
Made no attempt to pull over to let traffic pass
I do hope the inconsiderate b@stards are on here and read this then they may realise the inconvenience caused .
Anyway how fast can you go on that thing your on ?
There's some Pheasant Pluckers on this site !

It’s a tough call this one but quite often when I'm in a queue behind a slow going front vehicle, its the car immediately behind who has driven to within a few feet and not leaving a pull in gap that causes more problems.

That’s why rather than a Tiger on the back i’ve got a big

DROP BACK A BIT YOU STUPID PiLLOCK

automated led sign on the back of ours

Give me a wave or 2 fingers next time you see me, I’ll answer to both 🤣

Lenny HB if you don’t get up to the speed limit (whether it’s 50,60 or 70) pretty quick on a motorcycle test you will fail it!
I distinctly remember getting a bollocking from my instructor on the dual carriageway in Scunthorpe for not doing that and explained it would have been a fail🤷‍♂️👍
