I'm literally crying, so sad to see this

My apologies, Chas.... :hugs:

But it sounded to me like it was...

Great to know that you are happy with what you have found, and that you see it as one door closing and another opening.

Interesting that the one you have was the subject of another thread involving Simon. Better we do not comment on that.

Enjoy planning your trips and doing them.

Geoff

Some of us prefer a bit of luxury in our MH, especially when away for months chaser, ie, home from home.

By buying older but still quality, we've managed to do it without spending what we can't afford, and avoided getting into debt.

Cheers,

Jock. :)
Wow didn't realise people went into debt over these.
Ah HP ok if you can keep up payments I suppose.

Do ladies need a different size seat, ?

Well I think it's a fab choice much better than a static.....more like a mobile cottage by the sea / mountains / lakes......

That’s exactly how we see ours, it’s like driving around in a mobile bungalow and when you’re in it for months away you need to be comfortable or we do 😉

Glad to hear you’re back on the road, I think Theonlysue was at our meet in Portpatrick, if so we had a wee nosey in her van and loved it.

To get back on track two comments from me. 1. So pleased you're back on the road moho-wise Paul and
2. Sorry - Sedgwicks don't have an E in their name - but they are certainly about the only very large insurance broker for whom I never worked!

Have you made any alternative arrangements regarding your insurance re contents and belongings?

From memory your cover was only £500?
I was surprised to discover that NFU only cover us for £300 of contents as their MH insurance is based on a car policy.

I’m wondering if most of us are massively under insured with regards to contents

Think my contents are around £5000 with Comfort but will check later.
Most expensive items are phones tablets etc, which are not top of the range. No Rolex and definitely not amounts of cash. If I pay more than £15 for a pair of trainers I feel robbed.

Yes contents maybe £5000 but they may just put all electronic stuff in a group to the value of £500 regardless of what was lost. I know from experience.

Your phone's and tablets are probably covered by your house insurance anyway. And I suppose your rolexs as well.

I too was wondering if household insurance might cover certain items. I’ve got a feeling that it would only cover personal items not general motorhome items though. I know that jewellery and watches over a certain value have to be kept in a safe when not worn.

They probably would have been covered had we got house insurance.
I’m not hijacking this post just answering somebody’s post.

As a matter of interest then, if you have a phone or camera or some similar item stolen out of a car or motorhome, what do you claim on , your house insurance (if you have it) your motor insurance or your phone insurance ( if you have it)

In a motorhome apart from them being trashed there isn't a lot worth nicking apart from your phone's, jewelry maybe a TV or radio, but just stuff you can carry about, not much use to your general thief, all the fixed stuff surely comes under the van insurance which is the main item, not contents.

It would have to be motor insurance of cause.

Yes mate ,I know your case is different I was just talking in general.
What I was meaning to say, was if you have house insurance which might cover your movable stuff and the rest comes under van insurance, it doesn't leave a lot for actual " contents" that aren't already covered under something else.

If it is, I feel sorry for you  :(
REALLY? Thanks 😊
A motorhome is somewhere to doss when touring around, the places you go to are the thing , what the van is like is neither here nor there as long as the bed is comfortable.
Unless it's your race vehicle for various marathons and ironman events across Europe and your wife likes to come but can't fly. It becomes your palace, your holiday home. Having spent times of my life homeless living in squats, I get your point but prefer a little luxury for my princess.
I have had the best part of a bottle of red, so I am probably best loging out :giggle: :giggle: :giggle:
But you didn't ?
But it's not about this , it's an extension of the Simon-Alan Kerr thread.
Really? For who? For you? Jim chose to shut that down and you want to reopen it?

You still here?

Would have thought you would have been in bed with a large hangover after your earlier posts and attempt to divert the thread in a direction that there was no need to take?

Thanks Robert.
A timely reminder to others.

My insurance contents cover were 3000 pounds. It's amazing how quick this goes.
This went on two North face ski jackets, 3 pairs of Hoka trainers 2 pairs of nikkis sketchers, two lakeland leather jackets we used on the scooter.
Just the above racked up 2k. When you take in your bedding accessories plates bowls and everything else is amazing how quickly it all adds up.

You also get £500 of audio cover, 2 avtex TVs budget gone before sat nav chargers phones stereo.

In total all inside came out at just short of 7k, but remember, it's not new for old.
Therefore by virtue of that we got 3.5k back.
As we are slowly replacing things it's evident that 3.5k doesn't cut it.

Some stuff thanks to a suggestion to wash in white vinegar was saved, but very little.

Morale us check your contents and make a decision.

What are you on about, I didn't move the thread I was only answering others who had.
Why shouldn't I be here,
The other insurance post wasn't refering to you.
Just a general insurance thing, that other things maybe insured under your house insurance, did you try that?

Chaser, I may be wrong but I don't think the thread was moved.

I arnt bothered ,I am usually the one that gets the flak but just like to set the truth in place on this one.
