I'm literally crying, so sad to see this

Good to see you are sorted Paul and the worst part is over. (y)

Or is it? With all that cash burning a hole in your pocket the next big problem is what do we want and where can we get it? More problems to get stressed over? Not!

But knowing you I'll bet there is already a "little something" lined up? Eh?

I can’t wait to see your new motorhome, it will be good for you to be able put all this behind you and get back out there!

But knowing you I'll bet there is already a "little something" lined up? Eh?
He said that he already has his eye on a replacement a few days ago but didn't want to say more about it yet. Being a fully paid up member of the NMC its driving me nuts! :giggle:

Hes bought a static in skeggy 👍

As for the insurance stopping in the event of a claim, I thought this was the case as well being lucky enough that it has never happened to me 🤞
My mate got hit last year and he then got a buy back on his s3 so I repaired it (wing, bumper and headlight) but he tried to get new insurance thinking (as I did) that a full loss claim ended the insurance but was refused insurance as he was still insured on the car and you cant insure twice...every days a school day 😁

In my youth I had two cars total loss after separate accidents and both times the policy ended with the pay out. It was in the eighties so things might have changed now, either way haganap im glad you’re sorted and can move on to your new van and enjoy your motorhoming once more👍

That’s interesting as if you pay monthly you have to pay the full policy amount.

If the policy ends part way through on monthly payments surely it would end on a total loss with no extra payments.

Just a thought.

Now I was told you can insure a vehicle with more than one policy.
But if you claim you can only claim on one policy.

No one out there seems to know what’s what but that’s what you get talking to information inputers 🤷‍♂️

See my posts #450 and #451, in the latter I said:
... if you pay monthly for insurance you are paying a 'loan' to a third party who has paid the insurer for the policy on your behalf, so your debt is with the 'loan' company and they are likely to hound you for it!

Well as many will know, We are back on the road.

There's a saying that things happen for a reason and nothing as strange as this one.

Never did I ever consider a hymer in 20 years, thought they were overrated 🤷 and over here...but in a roundabout way I got involved with something maybe I shouldn't have and thanks to a lovely funster Theonlysue ended up buying hers even with the problems that need fixing.

I have to say I'm really really impressed, easy to say how good it is and people say you're only saying that because you own it... but it's right up there with my N&B for sure, and although it's a top of the range Hymer, better than the Carthago..

Insurance wise I simply transferred my policy with no issues and got a refund of 85 pounds? Not sure how that works..
I have air con, air suspension, full leveling you name it when it works it has everything and there's something very weird about sitting on a ceramic toilet in a motorhome, a new experience for me.

We've nicknamed it the Pig 🐖, because despite its luxurious persona I do think its pig ugly compared to the carthago.

I now have to call it the hymer and not the Motorhome, and yes the first extra I put in it yesterday was a fire extinguisher.

We threw some bits in it, put Betty in it and headed to Bolton Abbey caravan site, feel like we are to posh to for Cls and fields now..

Congratulations enjoy and have FUN

Not seen Theonlysue for a while, either in person or on here. Has she got something else or, hopefully not, given up motorhoming?

Anyway Paul, hope your new toy gives you all the Fun that the previous one should have done.

Ours is virtually identical to yours so any questions I will try and help 👍

We had owned ours for over a year before I found the toilet was still plastic but looks like proper ceramic toilet 🤔👍😁

Maybe newer ones do have ceramic, but maybe give it a tap before you use the wrong cleaner on It 🤔

Ok, So AXA have been true to their word and paid out.

My insurance was with Safeguard who do actually nothing other than direct you to AXA if you have a claim. AXA use or have been (they are bringing it in house now) various companies.

1) Sedgewicks who do the investigation to make sure you are legit, my investigator was excellent.
2) COPART who do the vehicle assessment and to be frank were useless in every way.
3) AXA who if you can get hold of are more than reasonable.

There seems to be some discussion about what happens next with your policy.
1) If I cancel, I lose everything I paid for it as the company have paid out.
2) I can however, keep the Policy running with a new vehicle which I intend to do.

No Claims/ Fault Claims
1) I will lose 2 years of my full 9 years of no claims
2) it goes down as my fault as there is no one else to blame.

So that just about clears it up and in a few weeks my post will hopefully contain me sitting in my new van somewhere, anywhere with a happy wife and a happy dog.
Good to hear you have had a successful claim, when we had two vehicles (not the MoHo) stollen our MoHo insurance went up from £450 to £3500 with the existing insurer it also affected the replacement vehicles. We did not pay the £3500 so if you do get a hike like this just shop around eventually we had a quote of £1200 from Adrian Flux and the premiums are slowly coming down. but be prepared for the renewal's I hope your experience is not the same as ours but if it is there are other brokers insurance companies that will help

I thought it was you that posted on HOG on F/b.
Hope you have some good trips.

Nice you have got sorted Paul, relax and enjoy yourself.
Might need to fit a full sprinkler system before you can relax properly.

I'm surprised about what you said about Hymer vers Carthago We have only had Hymers but I drool over a couple of friend Carthago's, they appear so much better built, and they don't suffer from the corrosion problems of the Hymers. Living 200 yds for the sea it's noticeable.
Although Hymer layouts work much better for us.

Martin.. I swear it scared the life out of me..

It was already on our “no I don’t think we will bother list”😉

Is this your new van, Paul... haganap ???

If so........ I envy you...... It`s beautiful.... Quality....Class.... (y)

If not sorry.......... I got it wrong again.... :blusher::blush:

She has been on a interesting thread only yesterday relating to this particular van....

Have a look at the Alan Kerr motorhomes thread.

Is it the 690 Paul? If it is we’ve got one, and we absolutely love it.

Have fun, and look forward to catching up soon.

I checked before and there is no mention whatsoever that my policy would be cancelled if a total write off claim was made
It used to be automatic as if written off there wasn't anything to insure.
Now I was told you can insure a vehicle with more than one policy.
But if you claim you can only claim on one policy.
You can but you have to notify them and they insure pro rata. Trouble is ,the same as here, they make out they know nothing about it and can't be bothered.

Nice to know your sorted,I was getting worried.
haganap. Same sentiments here Paul & Nikki, from Rita and I. (y)

We remember many years ago at one of the Warners Shows, you both came over to our Hymer E690 and asked for a look round.
You weren't swayed back then despite the build quality, so what's changed your minds re Hymer now? ;)

You've already experienced a higher level of build quality with your top of the range Flair, but didn't keep it long. ;)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Can't knock the build quality of my flair.
It was just to big on a terrible iveco gearbox. The break down and constant problems just made us cut out losses.

Lenny HB the carthago is a nice van, I'm not comparing general, just the one I had... it wasn't the top of the range model. Compared to this hymer it's a different class.
