Ive had quite an unsettling morning this morning, from about 4 am ,,,,

yesterday I had a lovely roast dinner, with parsnips and everything!! But for the last few days I’ve been struggling to empty my tank ( my personal black tank) and the other day, I nearly cut myself in half trying to rid myself of what can only be described as a cricket ball !! well at 4 am this morning, I woke up with what can only be described as Michael flatly performing river dance in my tummy!!

I kept out of bed, as carefully as I could, just made it to the loo and sat!!!

forty mins later I emerged! It probably looked like a bloke leaving the sauna when I’d finished,, I think I lost a stone in weight, and mostly liquid!! I could feel my, what’s usually beautifully smooth, young skin shrivelling up and drying out before my eyes, which by the way were draining themselves of moisture also!!

I made myself a cup of tea, to ward of the dehydration, and proceeded to sip,,, as soon as the tea hit my stomach, I was off again,,,,, this continued till around 6.30 and then I had to take my life in my hands and risk a four hundred yard dash to the waste dump to empty my cassette!! Dressed only in pyjama bottoms and crocs ( in case of an accident)

finally got back, settled and have now successfully had a nice hot brew with no apparent follow through!!

so be warned,, dulcolax, although small,, are really quite powerful! Don’t underestimate the little yellow pill !!!

Ian try Fybrogel, it is granuals that you put in water and you can take it on a regular basis, works for me now that

You had a lucky escape there ianthebuilder, I had a friend who took quite a few tablets and then went to work.
On the morning break they used to have a game of darts in the canteen, he was on the oche and thought he would slip a crafty fart out. I won’t go in to detail on the result but suffice to say his wife had to bring him a change of uniform to work. :)

Afternoon all,,, Just checking in to let you know what’s occurring!!

went to see a funster this morning, got some work for next week, which is always nice,, jobs in Norwich in a house for his daughter!

bit of plastering, bit of bricklaying, bit of carpentry to loft,and some slabbing in garden, and waterproof the roof of an old shed ( rubber). Should be 3/4 days,, well pleased!

I havnt heard anymore about the flat yet, but I rang the council to check all was ok, they told me that the housing association will be in touch as and when, they did say that the due completion date, which was for mid November, has been put back! See,, you can’t find a decent builder when you need one! Lol.

well that’s about it really,, But I will let you know what happened to me at the weekend,, here we go!

now first I just want to say,, I’m not a prima Donna , or do I think in anyway that I’m special,, so please don’t think I’m an idiot either, but this is what happened!!

I did 3 long days work last week, for the builder that has bought a large property in Bungay, I was building gables and there was a sense of urgency as to getting this building safe! It was almost collapsing at roof level!

now he wanted a variety of jobs completed quickly, which I duly did, as quick as I could,, now he seemed very pleased with my effortsat the end of the week, and said, lovely Ian, I will pay you this evening directly into bank,, lovely I said, and I wrote out the receipt and handed it to him!

so I’m in Helga, and at about 8 I checked my Acct! Nothing,,, 9,,, nothing,10 nothing,,

I rang him, no answer,,, so I sent a text,,, Steve, have you forgotten me? No reply,,,

went to kip, woke as usual, 5 am,,,, at 8.30 I sent another text,, Steve could you pay me this morning, please, I need to go shopping!
No reply,,,,,,

I left it till 10 and sent this ,, Steve, if there is a problem with the work, or payment can you let me know so we can discuss it????,,,

at 12 I got a text saying ,, I will payit sometime over the weekend, I’m not at a computer now, I’m out shopping!

Can you pay it ASAP Steve Iwould like it!

m it won’t be today Ian, I’m going to gardening club in a bit, and that takes up a lot of my afternoon!!

so this grated on me,, I rang the labourer, he was paid Friday,, so was the electrician, so was the chippy and so was the bloke who’s doing the pointing!! All but me!

now, this really grated on me, so this morning I made the decision to not bother with him, although I could have done with the money! But if your not happy with the situation, and I wasn’t it’s no good working with worry in your mind!! M

NO,, bye,,,,,,,, So that’s it,,,,amazing when he wants something doing, he has all sorts of excuses,, but he treated me like a piece of Shiite on the phone at the weekend,,, and I won’t put up with that!
But alls good,,, I’m working for Conal, next week and I’m happy!!

Good for you Ian, you did the right thing. He’s likely the sort who ends up not paying on the final job, when he no longer needs you. I would have taken the same line as you have done. Good employers and employees are hard to come by, and should always be looked after. He got what he deserved.

Good for you Ian I have done the same when I was in the building trade.
What is it with Norfolk builders.
Reminds me of when I lived in Brighton about 1975 mate and me done about £2000.00 worth of work to a flat after waiting weeks for money it turned out the people we done the work for did not even own it and landlord was trying to get them out for non payment of rent.
Fortunately for us the land lord after a bit of help removing them paid us for helping reclaim his flat.
 
Sorry. Ian.... I would of agreed to go in and do the work he wanted ..... but ask for what was owed before you start work...

Then tell him to stick his work up his arris.... once you are sure the money is in your bank....

He may think he has got away with 3 days labour and try it on some other poor soul....

Just my feelings on the scroat....
 
There’s nothing worse than worrying about IF you’ll get paid or WHEN.

Im with you on this one, only I would of told him I’m not at my computer to say when I’m back.
Then there’s the gardening club etc etc.

Any way he didn’t need to be at the computer to pay you. He’s already said he pays the others using his phone and he obviously had that.

Better off without him IMHO.
 
The roofer who I gave the contract for my 3 houses came up to me in the summer and said any chance you could pay me up as I am over my credit limit and need materials to finish.
Known the chap for years so pays him up front for one of the houses, Monday the 2 lads who work for him come in moaning about having to chase him around on Sunday to get the weeks wages aparently this is a weekly occurrence!!
The chap doing the single ply roof won’t work for him unless he gets money up front, the next week he’s telling me about his holidays him and the wife are going on , one of about 4 a year then see his wife with a brand new Mercedes C class.

Find out he has a reputation for not paying until people catch up with him, don’t know how some people live with themselves, pay my bills as soon as I have the invoice as hate owing money.

The lads I have on site talk about the local developers who seem to not like paying, they always seem to get trades work for them though.

Good afternoon, How are you all ?

I’ve had a pretty quiet day today,, did some washing, cleaning and I had a few thoughts!
Now if your not aware, someone has decided to donate some money for my new start in my new flat! (Which is rented if anyone thinks I’m buying it!)

I have the original donor to thank, and also a good few others who are/ have participated! I’m truly grateful for the generosity and help of them all,,, I have decided to spend some of the money on the flat, I do/ will need all the furniture etc and I also would like to do some bits on Helga,,now here is the question I’m going to ask,, The work I would like to do is as follows,,, 2 new taps ( kitchen and bathroom) Centre lounge wind up vent mechanism,,, a fuse for my kitchen fiamma fan,,,( light comes on, but fan stopped rotating) and possibly a kitchen window, which has crazed on the outside plastic pane!

now,, is there anybody who’s within a decent radius of me, who has any workshop facilities, or who would be willing to help me with these niggles? I of course would either pay them for their help, if reqd or return the favour in another way!

and I’m in Norfolk!
