Ian and helga go south !!

Yes my mate text me and said its cold where he is in norfolk!! I'm glad I'm here. Coming home from golf at about 6,30 it said 16,5 outside on the car temp gauge!! Lovely!! Xx

Bear in mind that the camper stop in Seville is a car park on an unattractive dock. It is however 20 mins walk into the city and is secure.

Remember you're going for the city, not the camper location (y)

When you get there, the gate will be locked if you look to the right on the gate, there is a small pedestrian gate, you go through there and check in to the office (the guy then opens the entrance gate)

I sat there ages last weekend trying to figure that bit out!!

It's a lovely city, a cpl of pics on my blog.

Enjoy Seville its a beautiful city and very pushbike friendly. Get yourself to one of the more intimate Flamenco bars on the south side of the river and watch the locals strut their stuff.........passion re-defined........

Good morning,,, suns out and it's lovely already! Got one load of washing in! Had a bit of a tidy up but helga needs a good scrub. So I will think about that for a couple of days and sort her out when I come back from Cadiz!!

Just gonna try and get a lift to caravan spares place this morning to try and get a pump for water tank! Old one still working but a bit sporadically!!

I went outside for a fag last night and it was quite dark, when I was coming back into helga I missjudged the bottom step and cracked my shin on it!!! Cor it did hurt!! I couldn't scream in agony cause people were asleep!! So I bit my tongue and had to man up !!! But another lesson learnt !

Ok so now I have a bit of a dilemma!!!
I am planning on being in Seville next week and I am very much looking forward to it!! But. ( and this will upset some of you , maybe). I wanted to see a bullfight! Now I looked at schedule on Internet ten mins ago and they don't start till the end of the month!! So now I don't know what to do?? It really was a priority on my list, due to the tradition and pageantry of it all, and to me it's a major part of Spain !!

So do I wait? Go into Seville then go back, wait here and get gas service done, all bits and go in 3 weeks ? I'm unsure now ? Don't moan at me but if you want to suggest an idea that's cool ! Have a good morning, catch you later !! And later I will touch upon finances, mine not yours !! Lol. Xxxx

Another 3 weeks, chilling, playing golf, winning at cards .....

Doesn't sound too rough to me! You could always revisit the hire car idea, pop to Seville, do the caravan shop trip, much easier in a car than Helga, bless her big fat butt! :giggler:

Well you like where you are so you returning wouldn't be a problem ..... I would suggest you spend some time getting Helga washed and the water pump sorted plus any other little jobs and tinkering that is necessary...... have the gas service and hab check done. Chill out for a while, maybe explore the hinterland, the three weeks will be over before you know it and you can go to your bullfight.

Seville will be ram jam packed for Semana Santa 18th March to 27th March and Feria de Abril, 12th April to 17th April.

It will certainly be an experience if you are there then but it may be difficult and/or expensive to find somewhere to stay.

Good idea puddle. I'm interested in the hinterland? Is that where the hinternet was thought up? lol X

Ian, you can't go from Cadiz to Seville and not call in to Jerez, it's lovely and it's on the way to Seville. As a walk around city I found it nicer than Seville. The 11th century Alcazar, the sherry factories and the Royal Andalusian Equestrian School all well worth a visit. The flamenco's pretty good too

The Gonzalez Byass sherry company has loads of barrels dedicated to celebs - see attached pic, and the story of the company is fascinating, especially Tio Pepe (Uncle Pepe) and the mouse! Pic below shows food and sherry always left out on the factory floor for the mouse!!

The free samples are quite good too and the tour is not too expensive! Jerez is also well known for motorbike racing, and its circuit attracts Formula One testing... How can you pass all this up??

Well Jerez is def going to see me! I like the look of that !! Where did you stay v?

I was in a hotel on that trip Ian, we also went to Cadiz by bus and liked it. Seville was also great and we enjoyed the great Ibero-American exhibition building - absolutely huge, and of course also Columbus' tomb in the cathedral which I told you about several days (weeks??) ago! Have fun.

When I stayed at the Dos Hermanas site near Seville the campsite owner offered me 'the best seats' at the bull fight. I didn't realise that it was directly over the area where they drag the dead bulls in after the 'fight'. I found it a very distressing experience, it isn't a fight as such, the bull doesn't stand a chance. Only stopped for the first two events, left after that and certainly won't go to another one.

There are bull fights all over, it doesn't necessarily need to be that one(y)

Hi Ian,

I'm certainly not offended, I went to see one so that I could form a view of the event and can understand you wanting to go as well. I was just posting my experience as a matter of interest to anyone thinking of going. You can't offend me, you are too nice a bloke!

Mike

Go in most bars in Andalucia and at some point the bull fights will be on the tele.

Bull fights were part of Spanish life for many years . Not everyone's choice but an experience you can't get anywhere else . Something to see while in Spain but not necessary enjoy. An experience in the saga that is 'Ian and Helgas Spanish trip'!!:hugs:

I think you'd be better off hanging on & doing San Fermin at start of July.

ANIMAL CRUELTY IS NOT OFFENSIVE< IT IS ABHORRENT

All the time tourists "just want to see it once for themselves" the bastards in spain will keep doing it. whats next on the list?? dog fights or cock fighting. maybe children in a knife fight??

its sickening that people want to pay and see animals tortured to death. in fact its inhuman

sorry, but you cant tell me very much about animal abuse. I actually dedicated years of my life to dog rescue. have worked on prosecutions for dog fighting and have put myself between an abusive arsehole and the dog he was torturing.
in rescue we all talk and it is common for the same scum that use dogs for fighting abuse other animals and their own children. they see anything or anyone weaker than them as fair game for their sick perversions.

in our culture we used to burn people alive at the stake and it was a great spectator sport. do you propose that we should bring it back so sick bastards can pay to watch it?

You (we) are generalising. Not all Spaniards treat their dogs badly and we don't know any that like bullfighting. The same as not all Brits like foxhunting! Dog fights are arranged in Britain also!

thought you might want to get excited in anticipation of enjoying and being party to torturing and killing animals

Blimey !! I was enjoying this thread, no doubt about your feelings, I presume you don't eat meat!
Cheers
