Ian and helga go south !!

Hi Ian,

I'm in Benidorm at the moment for a week but I cheated I flew over and staying in a hotel but what I have noticed how many motor homes are parked up on the side roads for a night or two but I'm sure you will find a site with funsters on. Yes I'm sure you will enjoy it here for a few days shame is I will have gone home before you arrive which is a shame I would have liked to meet you and say hello in person I'm sure there will be other times.

Have a great time whatever you.

Richard

I know people are saying javia a nice but one night there will be fine for me! Unless of course I meet the woman of my dreams!! ( cos I'm sure she won't be in Benidorm) lol.

Tourist guide for you Ian.

Javea comprises three distinct areas: the old town on the hill, fortified church, you can still see the bullet marks from the Civil war. Lovely little streets with quaint houses, bars pavement cafes etc.

The port, active fishing port with trawlers landing their catches around 4.30 onwards , you can watch the fish auctions in the cooperative building there. Again nice restaurants and bars.

The Arenal which is the beach resort. Nice promenade, restaurants and cafes.

If you drive up to the lighthouse on Cabo San Antonio you get a lovely view right over the whole lot.

Hope your mail arrives as you optimistically think so soon - we frustratingly sat on a site for 10 days waiting for mail in France - talk about getting itchy feet! Got to know Le postie well, greeting him at reception every day to see if arrived. Ironically ended up collecting it from sorting office on a Saturday as no deliveries on a Saturday and so fed up of not being able to move on couldn't bear to wait Til Monday to see if it arrived! Not trying to spread any doom & gloom for you just wishing you better luck than us! Sue

No mail today, I'm beginning to think sue can read the future!! Anyway it was a bit overcast today here, not cold but overcast, I took the opportunity to clean the inside of helga, she come up lovely, all cupboards are like brand new!! I can't believe how good she looks and works for a 1999 Motorhome ! Anyway this afternoon I went to the supermarket to get emergency supply of t bags sugar milk etc in case I am marooned here for a while,, well half an hour each way on crazy paving with no joints, dirt roads and dodgy slabs now my arse feels like a Cambridge university bike rack !!!!!! If I never had piles I bet I get em now!!! Now seriously I have just heard of a big earthquake near Malaga or Mercia. Isn't Gus there?? Does anyone know what's happening?

Panic over Gus is ok I think it was Malaga that got hit, I was told by text. Ten dead but I don't know the facts.

It usually takes around 10 working days for mail to Spain.I know cos I was frustrated waiting for a letter.

As ever, the British press over reacts. Earthquake 100km south of Malaga - in the actual sea. Some rubble around, people woken up in their beds, Daily Express properly pissed off that it wasn't a real disaster. Northern Morocco had more rubble in the streets than Spain.

Nice to meet up with you guys, when you get your mail and make it down here @ianthebuilder I'm sure there will be a good Funster welcome here in Benidorm, I think a visit to the Tapas bar is being planned next week followed by a visit to my favourite bar The Heartbreak. :Eeek:
Cheers
Ed and Shirley

Oh oh. Not the heartbreak! ! Search the forums in that one, not a good place by still accounts.

I've heard that's dodgy in that bar sheddy? Didn't someone on here get spiked and robbed in there?

Well I'm on this pitch in Denia, no post still! Don't think I can bother waiting too much longer, I can always come back for it!! I have just been told there is a Hymer rally coming here this afternoon for a few days maybe 20 vans! That should be interesting I can pick a brain or two about helga!! I'm actually going over her outside with a fine tooth comb today and I have managed to get all the tree marks out from jo's place so I'm pleased. She's looking nice ! image.jpg

We've been loving this thread from the beginning and now it's even better as we're travelling slowly down the coast from Peniscola so all the suggestions are great for us too. We stayed on Camping Eden €19 extra for WiFi and the restaurant was closed so you got a good deal @ianthebuilder

We're now at Benicassim, spotted a free parking area which we'll probably move to tomorrow for another couple of days before heading for Valencia.

Looking forward to more of your adventures, your positive spin on life is an absolute treat.
