Ian and helga go south !!

  1. Ian had posted these three posts to a private message i Think he thought he was posting them on his thread here so i have cut and pasted his posts so you can enjoy them Whilst he is driving to Limoges

  2. Good morning ,,,,,

  3. Right I had my first night in France,, it was wet and windy but as usual,I ( thanks to helga was fine) ,,,,

Right now an observation !!! I tried to do this on a video but I couldn't upload it, so I will try to tell you what I was thinking!!!

I just arrived here from Spain,,,
Lovely country Spain, very much a macho place , it's a mans country,, dusty floors, harsh landscapes, Signor, caballero, lets stab a bull,, don't worry about my car, put another dent in it !!

Now I go into reception here, and there's a little bloke, greasy hair, wringing his hands together over a pot plant. ,, bonjour I said,,,,, nothing,,,,,
Bonjour mesuur I said, Well he went all French and started rabbiting on,,, hold on mate I said no parle francais. !
With this he shrugged his shoulders and carried on with that plant,,, a woman come out who spoke English and got me sorted!!!

I have just come from a really hard, macho country where men are men and this bloke is tiptoeing thru the tulips and tickeling his f......G begonias!!!!

Well I should have hurt my balls in France , cause I'm not gonna need em here ,,, it was Spain where I needed a set!!!!

Still onwards and upwards,, Limoges is where I'm going to get to today,, so I will post later when I arrive!!! Xxxxxx. Have a good morning!!!

    ianthebuilder,

Ive allways wanted to see carrcasone? after I read the books Labyrinth about the area, bit late for Ian but maybe next time

Great, now I'm having trouble with my phone! So posting from tablet!

I'm sitting here in carcassonne and it's hammering down,,bloody typical!
First day in France and it's raining, BEGINNING TO THINK I SHOULDN'T GO HOME, lol
Grab a brolly and walk round the town..it's what brits do in France.

Dont expect too many clean toilets in France, the French are not the most hygienic nation in the world as you will see by them all pissing by the side of the road....

Although it has one of the highest rain falls in FRANCE it tends to rain in short but very heavy storms. When its sunny which is a lot more than UK its lovely and often gets into the high 20 s low 30s. Beautiful part of France...BUSBY.

Fabulous place - out of season that is. It was where Robin Hood Prince of Thieves was filmed.
It was close to falling down when the decision was made to save it. The pointed rooves on the towers were not how the original was but done that way to make it prettier.

A lot of people don't like the rebuild aspect and find it a bit Disneyfied , but without the work done last century it would have been lost! I enjoyed it !

Afternoon,,

Just arrived at campsite in limogue..
Looks good, nice pitch, no trees at all,
Got escorted here by a Frenchman in a golf buggy, muttering and shrugging his shoulders, cause he wanted to go to lunch and asked me to wait an hour outside gate!! Ok I said I will bugger off somewhere else, easy,,,,, but no, that did it he opened the gate, got on buggy and got me sorted!! Told me to come to reception at about 2,30 when he's back from lunch!!!! No prob!!!

It was a nice drive here today, except for the rain!! But it's stopped now, but bloody cold though compared to Benidorm!!!!

So now I can chill for the rest of the day and work out my route from here to Dunkirk,, which is the best way to go from limousine do you think !!!

Oh and when I tried to load a video yesterday it screwed my phone up a bit and it seemed I was posting directly to ambilkate by mistake, instead of the thread!! So thank you Kate for telling me, and re posting for me,,, I hope you enjoyed your morning coffee!! And the toilet drama didn't put you off too much !! Xxxxxxx.

Orleon Chartres,Dreux,Evereux, Rouen Abbeville Calais and Dunkirk,,Steady 9 to 10 hours driving,,,,Have a day along The D DAY Beaches en route...BUSBY.

Your all too late!!!! I have chosen and plotted destination for tomorrow,, and I will be heading for a 4 he drive to Angers!!!! Site no 1459 in the acsi book !!!! It takes me north and a bit west!!! Missing Paris which is where I'm going to head for when I come back!!!!!

Helga has performed admirably on this maiden voyage and I discovered today that the harder she works the easier she handles hills etc. If that makes sence!!! I think the 3 ltr diesel loves a bit of graft!!! We have been up and down long slow hills all morning and she's eaten them alive!!! I just love her to bits!!! I think we have covered nearly 5.000 kilometres since the start of the journey,, she has been a dream ( so far) !!!

So I was going to put a video on here for you yesterday and I must admit I thought it was funny!! But it wouldn't load , and I have been told to put it on YouTube or Facebook and load it from there,,, but I don't have an Acct with either, so what I am going to do today, if I have time and Internet facilities, is to open Acct with Facebook and see if I can do it,,,

The main reason I want to do it is because I would like to have a natter with you face to face,, so you can see who you have been talking to for the past 4 months or so !! ( Christ, has it been that long already) ???

I will do my best to sort it, but if I can't, I just have to keep bloody typing !!! Lol. Chat later,, have a good afternoon!! Xxxx

Same thing happened to us at Limoges site......he wasn't impressed that we arrived a couple of minutes before lunchtime...he did let us in but was muttering under his breath.
As we drove in we realised the site was full of travellers with some amazing vehicles but they were parked well away from where he parked us ...we were only there for a night and expected it to be very noisy as they had a huge barbecue going but by 10pm they all disappeared inside and it was very peaceful

Ian So glad Helga has been a great travelling companion! she has been through some scrapes with you and if she could talk she would have some more humorous things to tell us!!:sneaky:
Carry on having a safe journey north and thanks again for letting us be part of your momentous life changing journey!! The laughter saw me through some dark winter days!!

Surprised you didn't use parc verger in limosin, loaded with funsters.

Think he might be winging it...? It's not something he usually does is it...? :sneaky:

Edit....hearing sing song of..."...I was lost in France...." now.

Well Ian you have now discovered one very, very important thing about France. The period of 12.00 to 2.00 in the middle of the day is sacrosanct. It's lunchtime and nothing but nothing should interupt it.
Your idea of putting the video on Facebook is a bad one.:(
I, and a whole lot of other people, are not on Facebook and would never join up in a million years so we won't be seeing it.
Youtube would be a far better place to put it.;)
But if you want to chat on Facebook rather than here that's your choice but I fear you will lose a lot of followers.

The reason I was going to start a Facebook Acct fenman was to post video on there and then post to Motorhome fun!!! I can't upload videos from my phone apparently!! I have no intention of posting my bloody life story on Facebook ! Ever!!! In fact I think I started a Facebook Acct today or yesterday while I was messing about, now I'm trying to delete the Acct,, I can't work out how to upload on there and post it to here!!! And as for loosing lots of people on here, I don't get what you mean fenman???xx
