Ian and helga go south !!

Good morning,,

Well I slept ok last night, I was a bit warm though, woke up once about 1.30 had a brew and then went back to sleep!!

Yesterday evening my new found friend and I went out for a roast!! We went to a bar called the Yorkshire pride!! It was a lovely evening , still warm and sunny and the bar was quite busy,, they watch a lot of football in there and it was on!!

Now I used to be a big football fan and used to go to Highbury when I was younger to see the Arsenal, and I must say it was a good time in my life,, but for the last 2/3 years I have had absolutely no interest in the game at all!! Can't even sit in front of the tv at home and watch it,, I would rather sit and watch the golf!! Lol. Anyway,,

Got to bar, got seated, ordered and had a beer, ordered a couple of roast dinners, I had beef, and she had lamb!

Dinner came after a bit of a wait( which they told us about, so no prob) and was duly presented to me,,,,,

Beef was ok, veg( plenty of it) was nice, mash potatoe, was ok, but I only got 1 roast potatoe!!!! I was gutted!! To me a roast is lots of potatoes? Lol. Anyway it was all covered in a thick dark brown gravy, wich I'm sure is to many peoples taste but I found it a bit too thick!!

On the whole the dinner filled a gap, tasted good, and I would give it a seven out of ten!!! ( I think my friends lamb was good) .....

So now I am getting into the frame of mind to go home, and I'm already thinking of packing, re distributing some weight in lockers etc, thinking about the French leg of the journey( where I won't be seeing too much of the country this time) and finally the ferry back!!

However I will have 9 days to get to Dunkirk and I would like to take a small detour to see the Normandy beaches,,,

I think 9 days is plenty of time to get to where I'm going, and I'm sure it will be enough to give me an insight into France!!

I will be a bit sad when I finally cross the border into France, Spain has been amazing for me ( and I will try to explain it in my final post of this trip when I'm on the ferry home ) but I will return soon I'm sure!!!!

So I'm off with my new found friend today, on the bikes to the beach, and hopefully a good cycle along the front!! Pick up some cigs on the way back and
Maybe even have an English breakfast this morning !! ( you wouldn't think I was in Spain really would you? Roast dinners, and sausage and bacon) !!

So I hope you all have a lovely morning, and spare a thought for The Frankie gang, who have posted of the loss of their beautiful cottage, due to fire!! I'm sure we can all sympathise,,, I'm sure we have all suffered a certain amount of loss in our lives and a bit of support, even in a post or thought helps, I hope !!

At the end of the day, it's horrible to loose all your possetions, but in some cases replaceable,, people aren't !! Look what has happened to puddle duck lately!!!! Makes things not at all important!!! Xx

I wonder what the insurance will do, build another "as was" or a new style house? .

What happens if your house/home is total distroyed and your insurance documents were inside and you have no other record of and a memory like a sive?

You can replace some stuff and It dosnt get worse than it is, my heart goes out the them and thier familys.y
 
Good afternoon!!

Went for a nice long bike ride today, with my new found friend! And it was lovely !!

Had a rather large full English breakfast, and another stop for a brew!!

Had a walk around the old town, and it was busy,, all sun edd out on beach now, lifeguards in their perches, lots of holidaymakers and weather good!!

Saw quite a few of those robbing pea men today and I am amazed the police don't stop that immediately, there's loads of em!!! I think that's really bad for a resort!!!

So I was wanting to relieve myself this morning, no2s lol and off I went to the loos,,,,, got there well in time, chose stall number 1 and all was good ,, sat down and proceeded to enjoy,,,,

Upon finishing I went to get paper and I was screwed!!! It was before the cleaners had been in and my ex paper dispenser had one but sticking out of hole and no more!! Now I was left with a decission??? Do I try and get done with one wipe or try and tear it in half and have 2 smaller wipes???

No matter what I did, it wasn't enough,,,
The loos were pretty busy so as soon as I heard someone come past the door I shouted,, excuse me!!!

I got a selection of grunts from our foreign friends and after a couple of mins I was getting fraustrated,, then I heard a bloke from a couple of stalls down start laughing!!!! What's wrong mate he said? No bloody paper I said, he found my cries for help hilarious!!!

I will sort you out when I'm done he said,, result!! 5 mins later and after him shouting what one you in, he passed a load of paper under the door and all was well ,, so even though I didn't get his name I will forever be in debt to him, so cheers mate !! Whoever you are!!!! Xxxxx

So now a quiet afternoon, evening and hopefully night,,,, chat later, hope your all good,, xxxx
 
Sorry Ian but you need to write all these mishaps down and call it a "catalogue of disasters" or some such, I am sure that there would be many people wishing to buy it and then you wouldn't need to work anymore and just travel to write your next instalment.

Hi bb, I'm amazed at what goes on with me,, here is another example of my misfortune!! This was about 7 mins ago,, Came past toilet block and popped in for a wee,, came out and got hit by a terrible smell, it started to turn my stomache over!!! Had to put my hand over mouth and nose,,, got to side of toilet block next to where cassettes are emptied ( in the open as explained in earlier post) and a bloke , from wherever I don't know, is feverishly shaking his cassette out, there's shit everywhere around, and on top of the pan. Good job I had my hand over my mouth cause I managed to catch most of the sick in it, I was urging all the way back to the loos, and I've just had to sit down and clean my teeth to get rid of the taste!! It was disgusting !!!
 
must admit i got carried away after reading that and went looking at property over there but family matters put a stop to it,found a nice bit of land too
 
whats the betting mr shit shaker takes his poo covered receptacle to the fresh water tap next to clean it

Good morning,,

I slept like a baby last night,, didn't wake up once!!

Yesterday, late afternoon, a bloke who has a really nice rapido ( opposite me) called Ken, came across and had a chat,, we were talking for ages( much tea was drunk),,, anyway, what a very nice and interesting bloke he is!!

Irish, big family( 8 brothers) worked very hard, had a couple of lucky breaks, spent much time in Japan ( car business) and retired at 50 !!!!!

Now has various properties etc, a lovely wife, a healthy family and alls good in kens world!!

Anyway, he has a plan in the pipeline for some new build property etc and has offered me the oppertunity of being involved building his new project!!
Now it's not happening this year, but nevertheless it's a good offer, and a good project so I can hopefully look foreward to that!!

He told me all about his youth in Ireland, starting a nightclub/ disco in the back of the local church which got him started, yes he is very funny and interesting !!! A top bloke!!!

Anyway, I had a right result yesterday afternoon, when I got back from my bike ride !!! The Motorhome right opposite me, that is owned by a lovely old couole from the Black Country has an electrical problem, and there is a bloke called Paul, who is a local that works on caravans here in Benidorm,,he was in their Motorhome sorting it out,,, now on his van was a sign saying ' caravan service' and other things,, but on his passenger door there is a sign saying agent for fiamma and omnistor!! So I waited till he was finished across the road, and asked him if he did awnings,, ' no mate, don't touch em' he said, just my luck I said, pointing to my fixed exsisting bracket!!

Oh he said, you mean a canopy!! Yes I said. A canopy, sorry!!!!

Well he said, what size is it? 4. Mtre I said,, well he said, I have a good omnistor 4.5 mtre available, used but in good condition? Ok I said, how much and what's wrong with it?? Well he said it's a 1,000 euro awning, I fixed a leg in it and his Mrs made him buy a new one ( Dutchman) ,,, You can have it for 350 euros plus 40 euro fitting!!

So I threw a 50 euro deposit at him and Wednesday morning about 9,30 helga hopefully gets a used, good condition omnistor 4.5 mtre awning!!! Bonus!!!

Now when I come home to uk that's hopefully will be one less thing I need to get done, but it's the biggest and most expensive job out the way!!!!

So I'm happy, and looking forward to seeing it fitted,, Have a lovely morning,, chat later,,, xxx
 
Good news about the awning! Just when you are coming back to the uk! We hardly use it here! But great abroad! We do wind it in at night as have seen one destroyed in the rain and wind!!
 
Great news Ian, you will make the most of it, as I have said previously we have the privacy room which fits on ours and we use it all the time. Great bargain!
 
Oh, and I need to get some of those storm strap things,, so a trip to the caravan shop across the road is on the cards tomorrow!! Any reccommendations? Or are they all much of a muchness? Xxx.

personally i use a couple of orange coloured narrow ratchet straps, easier to spot than the black webbing ones sold in caravan shops and the same thing
 
I have the "Peggy Peg" system and had the awning straps added. These are bright orange and very easily spotted when you have to charge out at night to challange some geezer on your roof or Peeing up your MH:D Just remember to put clothes on.:ROFLMAO:

i have bright yellow straps that clip into the rail then at other end on to a spriing thing and pull tight,i also use the horse shoe thing that goes over the feet on the legs and pegs down just as a bit of extra holding power
 
It is supposed to be a sun shade, not storm protection.
When up, have one side lower than the other so if it rains it will run off, not dip in the middle ha ha
 
Yeah, you only want it strapped down in case an unsuspected gust comes along, not so you can leave it out in all weathers!

I'm missing something here I couldn't eat a Sunday roast when it's 25c+ outside ! A roast dinner is for cold winter days!! Now for me tapas, moule frites etc is something I could manage!!;)
