Highlands End Campsite & Jurassic Fields Festival Dorset Meet 7-11 July 2022

Well, the turn of events was such that we couldn't really turn up to a motorhome rally without a motorhome, so our family BBQ had to be in our own garden. And it was brilliant! But I'd have loved to have been there with you all in Dorset. Maybe for my 81st? Geoff and Carol x

Happy Birthday Geoff - we are so glad to hear it went well (y) It has been lovely here, super hot but thankfully a sea breeze most of the time. Let's hope we can all do it again next year with yourselves & the other Funsters who couldn't make it this time.

Watched it from coast path by campsite, where whole race visible but no idea who was in lead and won! the blue one looked very fast and had to do a longer loop than the others. 🤣
I am promised fireworks at 10:45 from Sandy Bay. Will be interesting to see if we can see that far !
We did see the fireworks and surprisingly nearer along the length of coast, that you can see at night, than we thought it would be. Makes the lighthouse that can be seen right at the end, Berry Head the other side of Torbay.

8 pm tonight for what promises to be another spectacular sunset and a Mrs Nutrocker Pat easy fun quiz. Pencil and a bit of paper will be handy.

Just out of interest , the speedboats use 3litres of fuel per minute when they’re going really fast. My cousin Bev’s husband Dave was chatting to one of the support chaps yesterday when we were down there. Expensive hobby!

Daisy and Freddy met Rosie( plus John).

We were wondering how much fuel they had on board because they are quite long races.
Were they on the beach this morning ? John said that Rosie was most intrigued to see a look alike going in the sea as she doesn’t like it.

The cheap seats at Highlands end seem to be full of families tents and little people a different feel to previous years. Got lovely neighbours and weather wonderful Wombles have a garden party later and it's last festival day .its a blooming long walk back up that hill

We saw them yesterday morning. Freddie(spelt it incorrectly before) and Daisy are whippets, Freddie is black so doesn’t like the heat at all. Dave had to carry him halfway back up the hill yesterday! Daisy is the same sort of colouring as Rosie. We saw them on the campsite at 10.30 as we were leaving for our walk.

Just watching a little of the big match, then I will be along to Wombles. It will be the first time that I have ventured from the nice shade and quite surprisingly cool breeze of our pitch today though. Neighbours at home say very hot.

Got the air conditioner running here. 28° in the shade and little wind to speak of. Inside watching the tennis and being a lazy duck as a little sore after the drive.

As some of us are off every night for the Festival thought we should meet up tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon so another opportunity to chat with fellow Funsters :hi5: We have some grass & shade next to our pitch & a great view so please feel free to drop by anytime between 3pm-6pm or bring a chair & your drinks to stay for the afternoon.
Oops. Sorry, missed it. Old man syndrome (hope I'm not there yet even with early retirement) and I appear to have had an afternoon nap inreadiness for the evening's headliners scouting for girls who were very good.

In case we don't see you before you leave - thank you to all who came along to this Meet - hope you enjoyed it, safe travels & maybe see you again next year. We are keeping our fingers crossed that we can have discount & early entry again for similar dates (to coincide with the Festival) in 2023 & those that couldn't come along this year can also join us then. Will post if/when we have more info.

HELP PLEASE ,typical my battery warning is making noises and this is what it's showing and suggestions please and the grey charger unit in the cupboard is rather hot and making funny noises

Home now, gosh what a weight of traffic going south on M5! Didn’t seem to be any incidents, just too much of it.
Mug of tea in hand and one wash already on.
Boiling hot in our driveway, cannot imaging being out in it without that sea breeze, we sat out last night wrapped in blankets over our jumpers🤔
To those that are staying, lucky you, to those travelling, hope you all get home safe, to Nanniemate fingers crossed for van fix, to Wombles see you next year, thanks again.

Hi Karen, many thanks for everything, and apologies we did not get across to your invite yesterday, due to a complete misunderstanding on my part. I thought the invite was for the evening, but having reread your posting I do not know why I should have thought that. Must have been a senior moment, or perhaps the sun had got to me!!

We will be booking next year as soon as we have the dates, so if we do not see you beforehand, see you then!

Cannot decide whether to give that a like or a hug. Is the charger ok?

They said it was battery , didn't look at charger seat off battery out took it away. Different lad turned up today , not in the best of moods . Battery not the same size so would not fit. After loads of fiddling it is now in, the van had a clean whilst waiting having fresh caught fish on the beach tonight bbq.will not know if its the charger until on ehu. Battery £90.00 Halfords and now waiting for bill via email

Twas a good meet even if I managed to avoid most people a combination of hiding from the sun (I have too many red bits), and disappearing to the festival . Only a couple of hangers on now left, enjoying the novelty that it's actually trying to rain.
