Here we go again, ambulance build

I don't suppose you could ask your mate if he could help re this thread ... would be great if he could.

Thread 'Help needed with electrics' https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/help-needed-with-electrics.297021/
I have replied to the thread but if he has had it from base van, I don't know why he just doesn't ask them , they are absolutely genuine and would go out of their way to help, we had our first two off them and Rupert the owner is as straight as they come.
That van he has their has got completely different electrics to ours , we don't have inverters and stuff in ours.
We put our own in.

I just hope he doesn't get fed up of it before it gets finished. :whistle2:
He thinks he's going away in it before the end of February  he only comes on Saturdays and he is going on holiday next Saturday,so that's two he's missing
We will see, I would put it more like may.

Update.
He has had a day off and ripping into it , here's a few photos but I can't keep up with him, but we have discovered a victron battery for the leisure side.
And a few shots of stuff inside

Couldn't you make it one of the van rather than just blank!
You mentioned a company run by "Rupert" that deal in ex ambulances who are they?

Just another thing for those who are afraid of unseen eBay purchase , this is another winner we have had , even better than expected and compared to others , at a bargain price.
Not paid for till seen, perfect transaction. (y) (y)
I've bought 3 Smart cars and three motorcycles unseen off eBay and all paid for before I left home. All as, or better than, described. Enquiries must allow you to make a judgement about the seller. If you're happy with the seller the item will be as described.

No tractors....😁😁BUSBY.
He keeps them in there own garages:LOL:
As Chaser says, a patient transport ambulance is basically a big taxi, nothing more - just one that is wheelchair accessible and kitted out with things for patient comfort, like extra heating. It spends all day pottering about
It must vary area to area as in North/Mid Devon patient transport for able bodied people was all VWT6 normal height roof minibuses?

Son bought and converted one, an iveco, many years ago when a student, he got almost the same for the wheelchair lift as it cost to buy.

How do these work out weight wise. All looks very interesting always thought it would be beyond my skills but the donor caravan route is making me think twice.

Good luck to him and I will watch this space

Ours weighs about 2.800 empty. With water and clothes and us and stuff we reckon it's about 3.300

Im very tempted after looking at Basevans site. Not that far from where live either.

You can go and wander around the vans with no pressure whatsoever as long as you phone him first, but when you have seen what you like , have a look on eBay you will probably find the same one for cheaper.

There is an auction place in Wales MMM? that sold all sorts of Ambulances and ex ministry vans etc
Edit Merthyr motor auction

If he’s already converted one he may already know this, but please advise him that if he is intending to utilise the 12v Hella Din sockets, the centre pole is - negative and the outer is + positive. The opposite of what you would think.

It hasn't got any sockets that I am aware of
Ours definitely hasn't.

chaser there are some bits and bobs posted by funsters in the classified which might be of interest in case he needs them.

Hi chaser , don't know if anyone has asked - what's the weight and vehicle description on the V5? - looks a right bargain by the way (y)

If you mean the new one it's 3.500 and on the v5 it's just ambulance which is free tax .
When we did ours we got it re registered as a motorhome, which is standard car tax but now it is very difficult or even impossible to get them to register them as anything but, van with windows, but still normal car tax.
No different than any 3.5 motorhome.

Don't lower speed limit apply to the van with windows?

Not that I'm aware of.
Vans over 2 tons unladen are 10 mph slower limits on dual carriageway and single track roads I wondered if vans with windows had that limit or the motorhome limit for less than 3.05 tons unladen. Is is a bonkers way to set the limit why they don't just set it at 3500 all up like the vehicle class I don't know.

No idea, worth investigating (y)

Not if it is a 'motorhome' & used as such

if the vehicle is classed as a van with windows or even still 'van' if it is constructed as ,& used as a campervan or motorhome then it is subject to the same limits as a car. In the event that you get a speeding ticket you return it & state the above. The ticket has to be rescinded.

Looking forward to more photos.
