Here we go again, ambulance build

As things are at the moment, get rid of the "NO" at the start of that message.

(y) Whoops! I had a string of names on 'Ignore'. I suppose I must've inadvertently selected to ignore the posters when intending to ignore the forums or topics that are of no interest/relevance to me.
Me too it seemed .

But I get that a lot 🤣

The question is, is it dog tired after 200k miles?

The delivery vans at a pharmaceutical business I worked for - so not hauling heavy loads, but it was multi-drop all day every day - were replaced at 200k miles, and you wouldn't have wanted one of those when it was de-mobbed, they were rough by then. Transits, mostly.

If the price is right and go in with your eyes wide open to the potential issues.

The alternative is you pay £00000 for a factory conversion.

I will let you know later today, they have gone for it.
But as a rule ambulances , although got a high mileage have had everything put right every three months and might have had such things as new engines and things as soon as they want replacing, might be tempting fate here but my lad has a fiat one and we have a Renault both with mileage well over 200000 and both run like new.
And never had to spend a penny on them except for normal service in 5 years.

Mine actually came with brand new Michelin tyres all round, just been put on before they sold it.

One of my sons used to work for Yorkshire ambulance service as a mechanic.
There kept in top condition right up till they are decommissioned Apart from right offs.
Slightest fault is fixed with new parts no after market parts.
Always new parts including the best tiers on the market.
Oil change almost every time they go in to the shop If they need it or not
Usually a full fluids change engine and gear box oil coolant brake fluid everything.
Bearings brake pads
I am concurring an ambulance to convert as thay have upgraded suspension and when you remove the lift on the back.
You get more payload.
The only real problem is insulation isn’t that good

Sorry to change direction. Wildbill how's the ship coming on?

Problem with buying one here is that companies tender for the right to supply X amount of ambulances for X amount of years. When contract is coming to an end,& they are going to be sold off shortly, nothing gets done. Usually had a new factory crate motor though within the last 200k kilometres. & then you are paying 5 times what your boy has just paid for a vehicle that will usually have a minimum of 400k on it.

Your son can get full service history from the ambulance service. Last one I did/got cost me under a tenner and showed ambulance had a new engine and gearbox fitted at 163,000 miles and I bought it at 166,000 miles

Yeah I think mine must have had a new engine at some point it's just like new no rattle or loose , uses no oil.

Well they are back but you wouldn't believe when they got there they couldn't get it up the ramps of the lorry so John's mate drove it back , no tax or insurance
So at least it's drove 100 miles without incident or breakdown, nothing really I can photograph that isn't on the eBay photos, it's just immaculate, not a dent or ding on it.
I will keep you informed when it's started, just too miserable outside today.

Just another thing for those who are afraid of unseen eBay purchase , this is another winner we have had , even better than expected and compared to others , at a bargain price.
Not paid for till seen, perfect transaction. (y) (y)

He really has got a cheap van, well you can't really call it a van, it's half way to being a motorhome, it's already got split charging diesel heater , electric in the back , two roof lights , fan in the roof , blows in or out , windows with blinds, wheel chair ramp if you want one and best of it they all work.
Full length lockers in the back and above the cab , stereo speakers all through.
He says he's only got to chuck a mattress in the back and he's done, think his Mrs might think different though.

How is it for internal height..

How will his wife react when he says "I've bought you an ambulance "

About 7 foot. Well I'm 6 foot and in ours I fitted wooden floor and carpet tiles and I don't get anywhere near touching the roof.
